Very good chicken. The personnel at the store on 13th St. in Milwaukee are always so friendly. The store in Oak Creek first opens at 3:00 on Sunday and that is too late for picking up chicken and watching football. Wish it would open sooner like the one on 13th St. read more

This review is only for the pizza because we've been ordering their chicken for years and that is fine. they sell you a frozen pizza as if they handmade it themselves. when I opened the box I busted out laughing, could not believe I'd been had. how dare you charge that price and not let the customer know you don't make your own pizzas ?!?! you're just throwing a frozen one in the oven ? when I called them to let them know I'm not an idiot and knew, the guy just stuttered. he had no answer. not cool GC !!!! Shop locally, avoid the corporate chain fast food fried chicken, and this place has better fried chicken anyway. Very tasty, service is fast and friendly (grab a menu and call ahead for fastest service). There are a few places called Golden Chicken in the Milwaukee area, but whether they are owned by the same person or not, they are not very similar. This is the only one I've been to that has both delicious fried chicken (and fried fish, and fried other stuff) AND great competent friendly service. If there is fried chicken better than this, I'll rally for the addition of another star. This chicken is GOOOOD!!!! Why anyone would spend any money at a chicken chain when this place exists is beyond me!! Oh yeah, and they deliver!!! The chicken comes hot and fresh. The skin is crispy as hell while the inside is juicy and moist. The sides are good, but whose focusing on sides? Potatoes are real, with real chunky gravy. Coleslaw is good. I like the rolls...a sweet airy bread. Yep, this is my only chicken spot. It makes every other place suck. read more

One of the best fried chicken I've ever had! I am a huge fan of Golden chicken, their chicken is always fantastic! I love their fries, I have had their mini tacos and jalapeño poppers and has been great! I get chicken strips and fries for my daughter and there is always enough for her. There are an abundance of fried chicken places in Milwaukee, but I'm a fan of this place. It's great for an easy delivery or take-out meal. Their chicken is pretty good. It's got a lot of crunch to it and it's not very greasy at all, which is pretty surprising for fried chicken. The breading and chicken have good flavor, and they usually give you big pieces. Their potatoes are nothing special, but the gravy is very good. There are little chunks of breading and chicken in it, and it adds a lot of flavor. Their coleslaw is about average. The BBQ ribs are about what you'd expect. One unexpected place where they do shine, though, is their churros. They add just the right amount of cinnamon sugar to them and they make a great treat right after a heavy chicken dinner. Overall, they're a very good and apparently family run local restaurant. It ain't health food, but if you feel like indulging I can recommend them. read more

Started eating their chicken when I was a kid in 1974, you will never get a better chicken dinner in the world. I hope when I die Heaven has a Golden Chicken. I moved to Texas in 2008 and Golden Chicken is what I miss 2nd; the first is my Son. Whenever I go to Wisconsin to visit my son I land at Milwaukee Mitchel Int. and then I stop at 13th st Golden Chicken without fail. The whole Family "sows down" in the car. I finally got over to this place. First impression is that this is a neighborhood dive place. Cary out or delivery only. Food took about five minutes and was hot. The chicken was good overall. It was hot, moist and very crispy like it was just made. It was better than the last chicken place I reviewed and the pieces were bigger. When you pick up the bag it had some weight to it. You get a half chicken, roll, slaw and plenty of Fry's. It wasn't greasy like KFC and very crispy probably the crispest of any chicken I have had. I don't know what 4 or 5 star fried chicken is so I will give 3 stars. Would I go back yes because it's close and will fill that crave. I wish they had a spicy version and the stars would go up. Like the one person said shop local. It seems like a family run place and they were nice and thank full for stopping by and not like chain places where here's your order. I've been spoiled with great fried chicken in my life. That's why I'm excited we found this place in Milwaukee. Family run, quick and kind service, large menu. While I prefer a little more crunch to the fried chicken batter, all the pieces (including the breast) were juicy and really tasty. Mashed potatoes and coleslaw were good as well. The one and only thing I didn't like was the lack of a true biscuit. The bread was more of a sweet roll...oh well. They open at 4pm every day and are busy starting right at 4pm. Calling in your pick-up order is key if you don't want to wait 10-15min. I'll definitely go back! read more

HORRIBLE customer service and disgusting food at the 13th Street location!!! The woman who took my order over the phone sounded beyond annoyed, I couldn't wait to complete my order and hang up. About an hour later my food arrived. I opened the bag and placed the two containers onto my kitchen counter while I grabbed a plate from the cupboard, and I was suddenly overcome with the smell of something burning. I looked around and saw nothing around me so I opened the box that contained my meal and almost gagged. The odor was coming from my food! I picked up a piece of chicken and all I could smell was charcoal. Not like charcoal from a grill but like there was a fire, a very bad fire. I foolishly tasted the chicken and immediately spit it out. Still, I tried the fries and breaded mushrooms and quickly spit those out as well. This was not bad oil, it was worse than that. I called and asked for a manager and got the same rude woman who took my order. I explained what I was tasting and she argued with me, pretty much telling me I was a liar because the oil was fresh and no one else had complained. I was shocked, not once did she apologize, she actually sounded mad that I was bothering her (again). After trying to get her to understand that there truly was a problem and that I couldn't eat anything I had just paid for, I told her I wasn't paying for it. Annoyed, she asked for my credit card number, told me it would be refunded and immediately hung up. I'd love to write to or call another manager, or even better - the owner! They need to know what kind of people they have ruining their reputation and the problems with their food. Unfortunately I have no idea where to get contacts for this restaurant and am sure if I randomly called or wrote I'd just end up with the same woman. As soon as I was so rudely hung up on I called the Golden Chicken in West Allis and went to pick up my order. The employees were so friendly and the food was great which is not surprising since they are owned by different people. I'll definitely continue to order from that location in the future and will never return to 13th street. I can only hope that more people boycott that location!!! read more

I'm a fan of fried chicken of any kind and I have to loved the crunchy skin at Golden Chicken! I ordered a meal which included a leg, wing, and a breast piece and fries. I thought the chicken was juicy and flavorful. I also additionally ordered a corn dog and it was just like the ones a state fair. The only problem I have is the chicken was on top of the fries which made them soggy. I would reorder and recommend. read more

Cashier took payment and charged my credit card then refused to give me my order unless I paid another $5.00 as the Restaurant.com gift certificate is not valid on the "Specials." However, without my knowledge, I didn't know I ordered a "special" as it was not listed on their menu and the cashier didn't advise me at the time of ordering. They wouldn't honor the original take out order and placed the blame on me for the Restaurant.com gift certificate. They also still shorted me my items ordered. Definitely no customer service to please the customer or make it right. Will NEVER be back and will advise friends and family on South Side to avoid this restaurant and use the Golden Chicken on Howell & Puetz instead. read more

BOO. After my faithful patronage, clear instructions on how the door is on the side street not the address street and a 2 hr 30 min wait, the best I get is 'he knocked'. I have a brand new white doorbell on a dark brown building and a cell phone that I used to place the order.... but he 'knocked'. You've delivered here a thousand times. I ordered at 6:45. Was told it would be a little over an hr. Called back at 8:40. Was told my order just left. Called a third time at 9:15, understandably UPSET considering I live 4 blocks away from you and you've lied to me twice at this point. I get screamed at and told to get some food somewhere else, you don't need my business, by the OWNER? 6 hungry people waiting for food for two and a half hrs sitting in the room right by the door.... nobody 'knocked'. He went to the wrong door/house. Why couldn't he see the doorbell directly in front of his face? Why wouldn't he press the bright white doorbell right in front of his face? Why couldn't he call my cell phone, which he ALWAYS CALLS when you deliver to my house? After being hung up on at 9:15, I would have let it go but I check my bank account and of course I paid for this great New Years Eve experience. I call back and ask about my refund.. BOSS MAN says I wasn't charged, it's news to him if I was. Okay.... I tell him that I WAS charged and I obviously need my money back since his 'delivery' person made no logical attempt to get me the food I had already called looking for. And his stellar management let another 30 min go by without making any attempt to contact me about the food I was charged for. He SCREAMS "I'll get to it at my earliest convience" and hangs up on me again. Before I can even tell my hungry family what this piece of shi* just said, HE CALLS ME and just says 'what'. I say, 'you called me, what's up with my refund?' He repeats the earliest convenience line and rudely says something about how it'll take till Tuesday or Wednesday, as if I can't wait till then. And he angrily hangs up again. Really? SHAME ON YOU. Not only does it literally take 3 seconds to issue a refund to a same day customer but after your complete ineptitude in judging cooking and delivery times, you couldn't even muster up an apology? Ever heard of owning up to your actions? Or more accurately, admitting defeat? Never once did any one of you utter an apology. Not even when I politely called the second time at 8:40 to ask what the holdup was. You should have been honest and told me it was a 2 hr wait from jump street. You should learn how to properly track orders so someone's food isn't just forgotten about, till they have to call you a THIRD time. I will gladly take my business back to GC in Oak Creek, did you actually think I would call you again? Their delivery people have basic brain power, their chicken is never overcooked and they were never once rude to me while taking my money. Shame on me for trying to support my local spot. read more

Horrible place, I had previously ordered chicken several times and thought chicken was good, a little pricey but good. I ordered chicken today 3/2/18 at about 5:00 and I waited An hour and 1/2 after calling several times the food came and everything was ice cold, chicken and fries. As anyone knows once it's reheated in the microwave it sucks and fries were limp and chicken was not good, I called and spoke to manager who was rude, rather than apologizing he told me that chicken stays hot forever and it couldn't possibly be cold and offered nothing in spite of a negative report. Also they made me give a tip prior to food being delivered and told me they went paperless so it was to late to lower tip or not at all so it's there way to make sure they still are tipped in spite of horrible service. Very disappointing and worst experience I have had in a long time with ordering food. Avoid this place like the plague read more
