With a change of management we needed to see if there were any changes to out local Chinese joint. We were glad to see that our regular take out was none the worse, but also none the better. Let me expound. I have a tendency to gauge Chinese restaurants by their hot & sour soup; unfortunately this was mediocre, as it was neither hot (lacking white pepper) nor sour (a pronounced absence of vinegar). Would it be difficult to add some sesame oil and perhaps a taste of pork for flavor? We did appreciate the abundance of firm tofu strips. Next up was a spicy beef and onions in a rich curry sauce. This was somewhat redeeming from our lackluster soup. Our last dish was a fresh and savory moo shoo pork; the pancakes were fresh and rollable, the cabbage nice and crunchy, the sauce a tad sweet, but overall satisfying. The dishes were abundant, the prices maintained and the promise of furture dishes will hopefully satisfy our Chinese food carvings. Perhaps new management will read this, heed advice and modify as more feedback is offered. read more

Service and quickness were perfect. Under 10 minutes and they were busy.. However the food was way off. Generals Tso's chicken was giant golf ball pieces of chicken with a gummy batter that tasted like carnival funnel cake with only 2 small pieces of Broccoli . We asked for it extra crispy and it was gummy and definitely not crispy. The scallion pancakes had hardly and scallion and were literally paper thin and zero flavor. The prices are in line with most other Chinese restaurants however even if it were free we wouldn't go back. We were in Northport for a show at the Engeman theater. This was my second visit here in town and again it was unexpected. We came in during an extremely cold spell and knew that we could not eat outside. There were no tables set up inside but plenty of chairs so my wife and I sat and ate inside using the ledge around the window for a table. The woman behind the counter was very congenial and took my order with a smile. Two times visited, same meal... Hot and Sour soup with a Fried Dumpling appetizer. I must admit that I really enjoyed everything. The soup is extremely tasty with a good amount of heat. Plenty of large pieces of tofu. Crispy noodles were just that... cripsy. The dumplings were cooked perfectly. They are a real nice size stuffed with plenty of meat and they're not overly doughy. Prices are very reasonable. Food is very good. Location on Main Street, Northport means temporary parking for take-out is a bit of a challenge. Food was ready on time. I ordered steamed vegetable dumplings and Roast Port Egg Foo Young. The dumplings were, unfortunately, almost tasteless, with no vegetable flavor appreciated, and poor texture while eating. We've been going here forever and never disappointed . Tonight we had roast pork egg foo young dinner and it was delicious! The Egg roll was crispy and yummy , beef and broccoli so tender and flavorful and the shrimp with lobster sauce always a pleaser. Golden China is a great place for a quick affordable meal. The food is tasty and the service is fast. I recommend the Kung POA chicken and the shrimp rolls. If your a fan of crab rangoon it's a toss up here. Overall I would totally eat here again. read more

Our regular Chinese restaurants are closed due to COVID-19, so we decided to try Golden China. Not a very good decision. The order was prepared quickly, and the third party app service that delivered was also prompt. The portions are huge, and the food arrived very hot. The order was stapled shut and clearly labeled with my name, which I appreciated. They provided a lot of condiments, fortune cookies, plastic utensils and napkins. These factors are why I cannot give them one star. Unfortunately, the food is not tasty at all. The chicken lo mein looked pale and anemic. It had a very salty garlic based flavor, which I am not accustomed to. I have never had a worse serving of Chinese food. You know how people often say that they are still hungry after eating Chinese? Try not eating your dinner. It's even worse. The chicken egg foo young also had a strong garlic smell, although I did not eat any. Well, I gave them the old college try, so to speak, but I will not be returning to Golden China. Back to the drawing board. read more

I love this restaurant! In the past few weeks, I have ordered a few times and must say the food has been exceptional. I do not know what they did with the Lemon Chicken but it is out of this world, I found the chicken Very succulent and delicious! Their Egg Foo Young has also been great. Just finished eating my take out from here. It was just meh. I am left feeling unsatisfied. I ordered the fried chicken wings and they were pretty good. The wonton soup was nothing special. The barbecue spare ribs were much too fatty and even after washing my hands twice, my fingers are stained from whatever dye they use to make their barbecue sauce. I also ordered pork with Chinese vegetables but haven't tried it yet. Delivery was fast and the delivery guy was very polite so that is very much appreciated. Since this was my first time ordering from Golden China, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. And that's only bc of all the positive reviews I've read here on Yelp. read more

Nice generous portions, very affordable. Been coming to Golden China for years with my friends and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is pretty standard Chinese food fare as far as Long Island goes, though I am a fan of their Sesame and General Tso's chicken. Their crab rangoons are also very tasty. They're also open relatively late, my friends and I have popped in there around 10:30pm and the place was still hopping. They deliver and deliver FAST, so if you wanna eat something nice without breaking the bank and right this minute, Golden China is the way to go! read more
