Since my review of a disappointing first experience at Birdie Bar, I have returned quite a few times (largely because there aren't many options in area and the ease of parking), and have found some dishes to be excellent. This includes the olive oil cake, bbq pulled pork nachos, crispy Brussel sprouts, smash burger (although not consistent in size), and chicken picante. The restaurant is relatively new (just reached third year anniversary), so perhaps the kitchen needed more time to prepare dishes more consistently. For the most part the food now matches the social media hype. TIP: Others have recently noted slow service, incorrect orders. I have been visiting at the start of dinner service, and have not encountered this, so some of these issues may potentially be avoided by arriving before inexperienced service staff are overwhelmed. Most people will be seated on second floor which requires walking up a staircase. If special accommodation is needed I suggest informing restaurant in advance. There is some seating downstairs, but depending of time and day this area (bar) can get uncomfortably loud. read more

Friday night dinner for me and my girlfriend turned pretty bad really quick. We had an 8:15 reservation but wound sitting at our table at 8:50. Asked to start with appetizers and was told they don't serve starters and everything comes at once. Then the wrong drinks come to our table, then the wrong food. I had to say "I did not order that" about four times. Our food comes and for the prices i wasn't impressed. We were offered a Tuna Tartar on the house due to our troubles which i did not touch as we both don't eat tuna. My girlfriend feeling tired asked if they have an espresso* specifically, pointing to the coffee on the menu and saying not this, can you make an espresso. Waiter tells us yes and brings out regular coffee....... Overall not worth the hype, will not be coming back. read more

Love, love, love Birdie Bar....I have been dining here with my husband for about 2.5 years now, and owner Mia always makes us feel so special! It has a very family-like atmosphere, with a very experienced waitstaff. Everything about this establishment is amazing... The family also owns Robkes down the street which I've enjoyed in the past as well. There really aren't enough words to describe all of the scrumptious food items on the menu (see online for more details)....Let's just say you must try the sticky cinnamon buns....OMGGG! The bar is always hopping with creative craft cocktails flowing! Definitely a younger, but fun crowd that loves a good time....Reservations are definitely required at BB, but so well worth it. As a huge fan of Robke's (and knowing Birdie Bar is owned by the same team), I've been wanting to check this place out since they opened. While visiting NY, I finally made the trip on a Thursday evening with a friend of mine. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, the service and atmosphere lived up to the hype. The building itself is super cute. When you walk in, the bar is to the right and there's a staircase straight ahead. We sat upstairs by the window. I loved the cozy vibe of the place. To start, I ordered the espresso martini (so good, definitely made right!) and my friend got the ditch plains cooler (St. Germain, Hampton water rosé, watermelon, lime, mint, and sparkling), and both were so tasty. For an app, we split the BBQ pulled pork nachos, which were packed with flavor. BBQ pork, creamy queso, jalapeño, corn, black beans, cotija cheese (I think), and plenty of chips. We cleared the plate ... quick. For our entrees, I'm a sucker for anything buffalo chicken, so I went with the buffalo wrap with fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, ranch, and a side of fries. Their fries were circle shaped and super thin. My friend chose the chicken sandwich that was served on a bun with shaved lettuce, avocado, garlic aioli, and fries on the side. I had been wanting to come here for awhile so I decided to go for Sunday lunch. Apparently, so did everyone that day. I had to park across the street at Starbucks which was a little annoying. I get there and it's packed and half the restaurant is closed for a private party so all the bar seats were taken and it was loud. It took awhile for me to be seated and by that time it was still loud. Sunday and Monday they have chicken wings on special so I decided to order the OG wings (kind of like a sweet heat teriyaki) and a side of fries. The wings were delicious, garnished with sesame seeds and scallions, loved the flavor and they were cooked perfectly. The fries were hot and crispy, and I dipped them in the extra sauce on the plate. Had a nice meal last week at Birdie bar in Northport. Had 6:30 reservations and was seated upstairs with a speakeasy atmosphere. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. We started off with some drinks which were delicious and a few appetizers. We ordered the buffalo chicken egg rolls and Brussel sprouts. Both were great! I ordered the chicken franchase as my meal and my other friend ordered the burger. The burger was very good but she was hoping to get the smash burger which we realized is only sold on Wednesdays. We'll have to come back for it! All in all, it's a great place to get together and have some great food. Parking is a little tough but it was OK on a Monday night. Ordered takeout on a Sunday, early evening. Wanted to try the burger. Called my order in ahead of time. The wait at pick up was 20-30 once I arrived. I paid at the bar for my takeout, I asked if all takeout orders would come to the bar. She assured me yes, they would. My order did not come to the bar, instead to the host stand. No one notified me. It wasn't until I did some inquiry and looked at the bag next to host stand with the ticket on it did I realize it was mine. No idea how long it was sitting there. I've been here twice in the last month and all I can say is wow. There's a reason why people are talking about birdie bar and it's hard to get in. It's that good! The drinks here are great and the service is fast. I've now tried a decent portion of their menu and there's nothing I wouldn't recommend. The restaurant itself is really beautiful inside. We came here for an early dinner on a Saturday night, I made a reservation for 6pm and it was definitely needed. The establishment is located on a main strip with many stores but no street parking. The restaurant has a parking lot but when I arrived it was at capacity. I had to circle and ended up parking in a nearby establishments lot which was closed. The parking is challenging so be prepared. Once I was inside, the restaurant was very crowded, front the entrance I could not see the bar area or the rest of the floor for that matter. This is a very popular establishment. The decor is very warm and welcoming and is a converted house. There are photographs of past patrons on the walls, and tastefully decorated. We waited about 15 mins for our table. My friend ordered a cocktail which was a bit off. We started with coconut shrimp which were tasty. She had the pulled pork and I had the smash burger. Both dishes were well prepared and satisfying. The experience was very nice once we were settled, the staff does not try to rush you out which is appreciated. I am looking forward to trying different dishes next time. The sun shined discreetly through the windows, highlighting the hushed conversations and the clanging dishes made by the waiters. Before we left, I visited the bathroom. Unisex. Clean, large enough for wheelchairs. This was my second time visiting The Birdie Bar. The first time was pre Covid and we sat downstairs. Believe the hype!!! But that doesn't mean come here ready to do a photo shoot with cute views. That being said, if you're looking for a good meal and drinks along with friendly service, this is the spot. The only reason I'm not giving it a 4 is because our poor server Glenn was waiting on so many tables along with the other server and things were a little slow(and the clam strips. I'll get to that). It seemed they could've used an extra hand up there. He was great though, shout out to Glenn We indulged in this meal. For starters we got the clam strips. So crispy and the old bay was just the right amount where I wasn't choking on old bay dust, but the portion was small and the clams could've been a bit meatier. The tartar sauce, Glenn said it was the best tartar sauce and he really was right. You know that's homemade sauce, it seems many of their sauces are. For entree we got the flounder francese a different take on your classic chicken. You may skip it because who hasn't had a francese but the flounder is 10X better. It was light flaky and the sauce wasn't runny it was fresh and flavorful and held up to the breading on the fish without making it soggy. If it was listed it I missed it, but it comes with a side of I guess I would call it potato salad which I normally hate. These were made with butter and cream, so maybe a cross between a mashed potato and a potato salad. We also got the skirt steak. It had a zesty herby chimichuri again homemade and so fresh it was like they just picked the herbs from the garden. It also came with the potatoes. Not knowing this we got the lobster Mac and I'm so glad we did. By far the best lobster Mac and cheese I ever had. Gooey and warm and cheesy and it didn't seize up and get clumpy like I often find they do. They nailed the cheese sauce and the lobster, huge chunks. They're not messing around. Whenever I am in the area, I frequent another place in Northport, which just happens to be owned by the same family, but I digress... When it first came on my radar that Birdie Bar would be opening, I had no idea what to expect. Like most new restaurants, I gave them a little time to get into the rhythm and establish the basis for their venue. I went within their first months of opening and decided that brunch would be my foray into their concept. On a beautiful, sunny Sunday, I found ample parking in their lot and a quick walk to the front of the building, which must have been someone's home at some point. I love their attention to detail, and realized the sports theme once I walked in. Pictures adorn the walls, staff greet you with a smile, and the smell of the food makes you feel like you ARE a guest in someone's home--albeit a home that likes to host parties. My table of 4 were immediately offered water and menus, then our server came over to introduce himself. I expressed that I was torn between coffee and a cocktail--brunch makes me indecisive sometimes! He said "why not both with an espresso martini"? Brilliant! I ordered the breakfast skillet which was literally served in a skillet big enough to cook breakfast for a few people. Eggs, sun dried tomatoes, sweet potatoes, breakfast potatoes, sausage, bacon then drizzled with chipotle sauce. WOWSA! All of us enjoyed our meals, but the breakfast skillet and the French dip were the showstoppers. I am eager to return for their dinner, or even a weekday lunch. When we showed up, they seemed to be having a pre-brunch event and all the parking was blocked off. We ended up calling and they told us to park at the bank next door, which we did with no issue. My first time here. Saturday night. 7:45 reservations. I stopped in the unisex bathroom after our long car ride to find the floor flooded with what I optimistically told myself was winter; but then why was there "water" splattered all over the toilet seat? Undeterred, I pressed on to see the other couple we were meeting. We were happy to be shown to our table without much delay as the bar was positively packed. People were standing shoulder to shoulder and the loud clamor made conversation difficult. Seated at our table for four in a cozy back corner of the first floor a server dressed in indistinguishable street clothes appeared instantaneously to take orders for drinks. He mentioned his name, which due to the loud room or a slight perceivable accent I did not understand. Seemingly perturbed, he repeated it then with an obvious derision, spelled it out; neither of which did I understand. After too long (I wasn't timing it) drinks arrived. My wife ordered a Negroni that was delivered in a smallish "rocks" glass with an enormous single cube of ice in it. We toasted and when she sipped it, her face cringed. I tasted it and it was reminiscent of cold Robitussin. When the server reappeared sometime later, I sent that drink back and a Pinot Grigio was ordered. The server brought the wine and said the bartender mistakenly poured Aperol instead of Campari and asked if another Negroni should be delivered. We declined. Worth mentioning is the fact that while the Negroni debacle was unfolding another plainclothes staffer (busboy?) delivered two glasses of water to our table of four. Odd, but we ignored it. On to the meat an' potatoes. I ordered the Saturday "special" Buffalo Chicken Cobb. The other gentleman ordered the French Dip. The women both had Crab Cakes and different salads, with which they seemed to not have any complaints. My salad was topped with vastly overly fried, cold, dried out small pieces of chicken seasoned with entirely too much cayenne, complimented with a large helping of crushed, burnt, inedible "bacon". If any egg was present it was crowded out by the canned corn. The "French Dip" consisted of dried out, overcooked, sliced roast beef, drowned in some type of oozy cheese with a generous number of jalapenos sprinkled in (what the F?), accompanied by limp soggy "fries" and some brown (not translucent or appetizing) au jus(?). Desert was suggested and a brownie alamode was selected, which was quite good. Not NEARLY good enough to justify a $350.00 bill for some salads and a smallish, weird roast beef hero, better procured in any local deli at ¼ the cost. In summary, my humble opinion would be, if you're not part of the under 35 pseudo trendy North Shore crowd; stay away from what is essentially a Williamsburg wannabe watering hole with Manhattan prices. In fairness, maybe we missed something the other reviewers found so enchanting here. read more
