My husband and I were very impressed on how fresh and clean this restaurant was. I had orange chicken with rice and it was amazing fresh fresh fresh. We will definitely be back.

Let's start out with some backstory that nobody asked for. I'm a Marylander and I have lived all over the states. This means I have had various takes on Chinese food and I know what I like. This place reminds me of the Chinese food from up north. In Nebraska, we had an amazing place called Dragon Cafe that was rated in the top 100 Chinese restaurants in the US. Their egg rolls were to die for. China Palace's steamed dumplings taste identical to the ones I was addicted to at Dragon Cafe. China Palace's crab Rangoon are on the more savory side, but they taste more like what I am accustomed to, as I find crab Rangoon down here to be too sweet and lacking depth of flavor. My boyfriend tried the Happy Family and I was delighted to see that everything was cut into bite sized pieces, as it should be in any cuisine in which you are supposed to use chopsticks. The flavor was delicious. I ordered the seafood udon noodles and was impressed with the depth of flavor. It had just a hint of underlying sweetness and was savory. The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly. Did I mention that when we first ordered, we were given fried wonton strips and duck sauce? That's something I haven't experienced since moving down here. The staff were friendly and the tables were shiny. I'm going to check DoorDash the moment I post this review to see if China Palace is in my delivery area, because I am so tired of lackluster Chinese and I fully intend to only order from here from now on. (Of course, follow my reviews to see if this changes. Who knows, there may still be another hidden gem nearby.)

A friend and I had dinner here tonight. The service was very friendly and the food was great, The dining room isn't much, and we had to switch tables because the booth benches we first sat down on were so old and worn, we sank down half a foot. The second booth we tried was marginally better, but since we didn't want to play musical chairs any more, we let good enough alone. The menu is your basic American Chinese -lots of lo meins and kung paos and that sort of choices. We shared a Pu Pu Plate For 2 (Spring rolls, shrimp tempura, chicken wings, teriyaki chicken, and crab rangoons). The price ($9.95) was very reasonable and the taste (not greasy at all) made this a solid value. For dinner I went with the Jalapeno Chicken (served with white or fried rice) for $9.95. It was a pretty generous portion, but curiously wasn't very hot and spicy at all. I should have asked for some chili oil to zip it up. One more curious thing was the dish was served with a lot of onions, so many onions that the server warned me that it came with a lot of onions! I guess onions are cheaper than pea pods or water chestnuts which would have given the dish some more crunch and interest. It was fine, but could have been better. My impressions were that this would be a solid take-out place, but not much of an option for dining in, unless you're a no frills guy or gal.

Food is amazing, servers are friendly and the portions you receive are great. $30 takeout order and I can eat 3-4 meals out of it.

It was pushing 97 degrees outside, and after a long afternoon of computer work and errands, I finally stopped in for the crispy scallion chicken and pan-fried dumplings. Huge portions. Fair prices. Friendly people. Consistently solid food every single time. The best part today honestly might have been the air conditioning. They've got a cool, comfortable space to wait while your order is prepared, which felt amazing after baking outside all day. I forgot to take food photos because I was hungry and ready to get home, but trust me, they pack these takeout containers like a game of Jenga. Nothing spills. Nothing shifts. Everything is packed tight and thoughtfully. Only tiny downside: the dumpling sauce goes into the same container as the hot dumplings, so by the time I got home, it had softened the bottom a bit. Still, the dumpling wrappers are thick and crispy enough to survive the trip. Into the air fryer later they go. One warning: the parking lot can be chaotic since it sits right off busy Providence Road. Just be patient. Cars are constantly pulling in, backing out, blocking entrances, and today people were absolutely treating red lights like suggestions. Saw it multiple times, including a bus cutting across traffic when I had the right-of-way. Charlotte drivers... please relax a little. That said, the food made the trip worth it. It unfortunately was quite bland, big chunks, & not crispy. Fried rice/ super bland, no additions except peas. I was unable to finish the rice due to blandness even with soy sauce. It is busy enough that plenty of other people had also called in for takeout. The price was higher than I thought it would be by a significant margin; I thought something was off but then rechecking their menu I saw it was indeed $20 for a vegetable entree. On the upside, they did offer brown rice at no extra charge. Still, I'll get three meals out of it and as someone who eats a lot of takeout, this was not a great value. In terms of quality, I was thrilled to find that they offered a stir-fried okra dish. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation. They had a bean curd roll dish that I enjoyed, and some quality dumplings. Overall, not huge portions and a mix of okay to great quality.

The fried rice and stir-fried okra together are amazing. Food is always good!…read more The ambiance is outdated but the service is exceptional.

It was our first visit and we wanted to try the curry. We ordered the Thai Red Curry and the Thai Green Curry. Both were perfection! The red curry had just the right amount of spice to give it flavor, but not be too spicy hot. The green was mild, but flavorful. The dumplings were so good. These were both very good and we added shrimp and chicken. I believe they would be just a satisfying with only the vegetables. This is my go to place for Asian noodle dishes from now on...can't wait to sample more of the menu on my next visit.

They genuinely did not taste like chicken at all, and I couldn't even finish them. I strongly recommend staying away from that item. I also tried to order a bubble tea without ice and was told I'd be charged an extra $2 because they would need to "add more juice." I didn't ask for extra juice, just no ice!!! And charging extra for that feels unreasonable and borderline price gouging. Ridiculous!!!! Between the poor food quality and the frustrating service, the overall experience wasn't great, and I won't be returning.
