It was a buffet common as of all the other Golden Corals (CG). Only thing is they are a cleaner CG than others i have been to. But same food. Salad bar here was much more simpler than ours back home. Service was typical. Pick up your dirty plate. So, I can't say anything bad, nor anything great. They just pick up your plate. Anyways 3.5 to be honest, but I selected 4stars above. We were on a bus and he took a lot of time to explain the flow and how to navigate the food stations. Everything was clean and all the hot food was hot. This is easily the best Golden Corral in the area, even compared to Springfield and the ones I've been to in Oklahoma. The buffet is usually well-stocked and clean, and most of the staff are friendly and attentive. The restrooms could be cleaner, but that seems to be more of a patron issue than a staff issue. Out of dozens of visits, I've only had one experience that really surprised me. I noticed an eyelash in the ranch dressing and told the buffet attendant about it. He notified someone who I believe was the night manager. The manager used the same ladle that was already in the ranch to scoop out the eyelash, threw that portion away, and simply replaced the spoon. I was shocked. I told him that just replacing the spoon isn't sanitary. He can't just remove the foreign object and leave the rest out for the patrons. He reacted as if he suddenly realized he had a 'duh' moment and asked the buffet attendant to replace the ranch bowl. Maybe he just had an off day or it was a long shift? Idk. I stood nearby to make sure it was handled properly and it was. They dumped the old ranch in the trash and put the bowl elsewhere. Then they put out a fresh, new ranch in the buffet. I haven't seen anything else like that before or since. That said, I do hope that after all holiday food is gone, they will change the Mexican dishes back to their larger sizes. With the dishes being smaller, they're always empty, so that's a bit annoying. Even with those two issues, we would still return. This is seriously the best Golden Corral around and everyone has an off day. ETA: I also love the amount of vegetable options here! It's the only place you can go and have a bunch of vegetables with your meat options. I primarily eat the veggies on each visit, in addition to a good helping of taco meat (topped with rice and cheese sauce). Sometimes I get a little bit of pot roast, and occasionally, a little piece of meatloaf. Vegetable-wise, I get the same ones every time. We went here on Veterans Day this year. They offered a free meal to all veterans-- not just a discount. Nor was it a buy one get one free deal. Unlike some restaurants, there was no limited menu and they had a great selection of food from steak and turkey to apple pie and everything in between. I can't believe I'm actually reviewing Golden Corral. But to be honest as a vegetarian, it sometimes feels important to leave reviews for other vegetarians to find later. A couple days ago my family came here and I was worried about vegetarian options. I usually end up eating very little at buffets because the options are lacking. Not this time. I had four full plates of food, the most I've ever done. And a bowl of soup. The salad bar had a lot of choices, the hot food section had pizza and wedge potatoes and some other nice options. I had to ask a lot about different things to find out if they were vegetarian because the section on each food name that includes allergy information was blocked by a metal bar in many cases and I didn't notice until the end of the meal. So keep that in mind. And topping off the meal with some churros to dip in hot fudge (based on Spanish tapas), I was surprised just how full I got. The wait staff was also quite attentive as well. If you're a vegetarian in Branson, I highly recommend Golden Corral. It was an amazing meal. read more

REMODEL REMODEL REMODEL! As of February 15th, 2020 Golden Corral has reopened after a great remodel! Their atmosphere has completely changed and the dining experience is 100% better. My wife and i are local and have been many times in the past. Our past visits would have been rated a 3 out of 5 across the board. We visited for breakfast this morning after the remodel and everything has turned around from the feel of the place to the quality of the food. The food was fresh. The bacon was perfectly cooked, the tray of eggs were nice and fluffy, and the bar was full of selections that looked inviting. What i appreciated was that there was more than one station with a certain food selection. If you wanted scrambled eggs, you could get them in three different places, as with the sausages, hash browns, etc. The biscuits and gravy (I had the sausage gravy) had fresh biscuits (covered in butter) and the gravy wasn't like coagulated throw up with the skin on top that you often find at buffets. The fruit was fresh, the salad bar was fresh, the desserts were fresh All in all a great experience, thank you GC for all the effort you put into revamping your restaurant. read more

This is the best Buffet restaurant I have ever eaten in. The fried chicken was to die for. The salad bar was wonderful. We get a great senior discount here. $10.50 and includes a drink. Be there by 3:30 pm to get your discount, Monday through Friday only. All the food was good quality. The servers are polite and always there to clear your plate or bring you a refill. Also drinks were not included here, as they were in Orlando. At 8pm on a December Saturday night this place was packed and there was still a lengthy line of incoming diners. This GC is typical of others as far as the food quality and variety, service, and dining room. The biggest difference, and a complaint, is the odd layout of some food stations. The layout forces diners into a small alcove that creates a line at busy periods backing into half the length of the restaurant. That inconveniences other diners trying to navigate the crowded space. Normally I am not a salad fan, but in a town with little other healthy options, this bar had lettuce, blend of greens and baby spinach. Chopped fresh broccoli, cauliflower and similar vegetable toppings. I did not use salad dressing. They have baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and cauliflower. It was a Saturday night that we went and it wasn't busy so it was easy to pay and find somewhere to sit. Service was okay but it was nothing beyond that. All their food seemed old and had been sitting out. Their mashed potatoes tasted like the instant mash potato powder from the box and I mean it was not good. There was no french fries in sight -- even Chinese buffets have french fries! The steak took longer for me to chew than usual and everything was just sub-par. Nothing stood out. Even the desserts were left out too long. I had a piece of their chocolate cake and it tasted stale. The only thing that deserves one star is the ice-cream and you can have it in a cone but you still need an employee to get it for you. This has to be the best Golden Corral anywhere!! Sooo many choices, and everything much tastier and higher quality than I was expecting. The pot roast and mashed potatoes! The fried butterfly shrimp! The different flavors of chicken tenders! And oh Lordy those rolls with honey butter...all spectacularly delicious, just to name a few. The service was amazing too. This restaurant has a high capacity (I mean, it's Branson) and is most surely always busy. Plates we were finished with were cleared away immediately and I never even had to ask for a refill on my water. In these times with rising costs, feeding a family of 2 adults and 2 kids all you can eat for $60, and as yummy as everything was...you just can't beat it. So imagine my actual surprise when this one turned out to be the best buffet on a budget I've ever been to! It really took me back to Hometown Buffet circa 1995 (iykyk). They had an omelet bar, all the fixings for a classic American breakfast, a SLURPEE machine, and a custom grilled steak station (if you get there at lunch). I cannot believe how well priced it was! I had a not so good experience here. First of all, the food wasn't the best. The steak, mac and cheese, and ice cream was very good. I got some other things and they weren't good at all. After eating, i felt fine. But then, I literally produced brown liquids all over my toilet. (i'm talking about diarrhea by the way) The next few days, I farted a lot, and I mean A LOT. Me and my friends were near the claw machine and a couple people were watching. The staff was incredibly rude and yelled at us to move because we were "blocking the exit". Why would they even put the claw machine near the exit if they knew people would be by it and literally block the exit. Dumb choice Golden Coral. Overall, the food had its pros and cons. However we have done all the local buffets so we decided to go to the Branson Golden Corral. What a pleasant surprise, it was clean, so many more food options and the stations were well maintained, nothing remained empty for long. We also had a great waitress Beth who was awesome. I enjoyed this location but none of the dishes on the buffet were labeled and unfortunately, I had no idea what some of them were. The guy cooking the steaks was awesome and the servers did a good job of keeping the tables cleared. The bathrooms were in good shape and clean. The chocolate fountain was broken- kind of a bummer for the kids, but the still had a chocolate pool you could dip in, although it looked like it was in bad need of being cleaned out as there were lots of desserts that had been dropped in the basin. The kids said the Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were really good- a huge win when they enjoy food as opposed to just the dessert bar.
