Came by on a Sunday at around 10AM since I was craving breakfast. It was the perfect time, as we were sat immediately, and had about two rounds of breakfast food before they started serving lunch. Staff were friendly and quick, and our server checked with us often for drinks and to pick up empty plates. Food was seasoned and refilled quickly. My personal favorites were the tamales, mushrooms, and hashbrowns. I was pleasantly surprised since I wasn't expected much due to it being a buffet, but things weren't half bad! Plenty of options, and honestly better than some of the pricier "seafood buffets" nearby. Fried chicken was hot and ready, there was an icee and ice cream machine, a bunch of cakes and pies, made to order eggs and omelets, and even salted and honey butter. My only complaint was cleanliness. Although the place was fully staffed, it was very busy and there were some "clean" plates that had leftover food on them, the food area needed a bit more wiping down, etc. I would personally skip the ham - it was pretty dry. We don't do buffets much these days, but we needed a quick, decent lunch before a 90+ minute drive to Sacramento from the Bay Area for July 4 weekend. Our babysitter took our son to Golden Corral a few times and said he loved the food here. Buffets are doubled edged - definitely lots of tempting dishes but you do have the power of choice and portion control. With free AI tools, you can track macros too! Golden Corral is a meat-centric buffet with lots of Southern-themes dishes. If you have a group of people that can eat alot and you're not trying to go broke, then this is a great place! ESPECIALLY FOR BREAKFAST! First off, the prices are very reasonable. On a Sunday, adults are $15.99, seniors are $14.99, and kids 4-8 years old are $11.99. Although this is without drinks, there is a big selection to choose from! My favorite part of the breakfast buffet is the OMELETTE STATION where it's made to order! The ingredients you can add in are spinach, mushrooms, cheese, etc. The one I received was perfect! Fluffy and packed. I didn't add any meat like ham because I wanted to get Bacon on the side. The second item I LOVED was the menudo! The tripe was tender and not overcooked and it had hominy which was a good surprise to me since many restaurants do not add it in. Although it's missing the oregano, cilantro, and lime on the side it was FLAVORFUL! For something sweet, they have hot off the griddle pancakes and french toast! You have to check it out. TRUST. I recently visited Golden Corral in Concord and had a mixed experience. One thing I did appreciate was that they provide plastic gloves for guests to use while serving themselves at the buffet. All I can say is that this place was absolutely horrible. It has downhill from pre covid. When we parked in the handicap area as soon as we got out of the car all we could smell the sewage as if it was backed up. That should have been an indicator that this was now gonna be good. It was really warm outside and when we walked in the doors it felt like a sauna in there. Turned out that half of the restaurant A/C was out. They had a portable one by the desert area but that wasn't working very well either. But I don't know whose bright idea to have the soda area right next to the front door. I get that they want you pay for your stuff at the front but now the people who want a refill have to fight and cause a traffic congestion with the people coming in the front door. When we sat down we noticed that the cups were still dirty as hell. I mean there was still lipstick on the plastic cups we got from the front. The tables were not wiped down and there were still crumbs and wet streaks from the dirty rags they were using to clean the tables. There was food all over the place on the floor near the buffet lines. The pizza area looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. I really wish I had my phone with me so I can show pics but it's like the whole buffet area had more food on the counters than they actually had food in the pans. There were kids running and screaming right behind us. Tbh this place has been overtaken by the ghettos. Never going back. I had one slice of steak and two bread buns and one of my kids was so disgusted that he didn't even eat so I paid for him to get a drink. 160.00 down the drain. This place is mismanaged. There were food peppers without hair nets.. using the same tong for every food item. The staff was nice but that won't cut it when you're paying a premium price and getting less than minimum experience. If I could give this a negative fee I would. My partner loves this place. We love any place that's AYCE, since we like to sample a little of everything. The Golden Corral is located across the street from The Verandas Plaza in Concord. Parking is easy to find since they have a huge parking lot. We've only been here during lunch, which is similar to dinner. The food here is okay. It's not top quality, but they have a huge selection. I've tried almost everything here, and my go-to is the fried shrimp, fried fish, fried chicken, and bourbon chicken. I prefer Sizzlers if I'm craving a buffet. I find the salad bar at Sizzler's fresher, and I prefer their fried chicken wings over Golden Corral. One thing I don't like about Golden Corral is the crowd. I admit I was hesitant to review this place. As a yelp elite, I'm supposed to be somewhat of a foodie. Golden Corral is not where foodies flock. So reluctance probably means I'm an elitist in a double sense of the word. But since it's confession time, I will also admit I am a Golden Corral semi-regular. What inspired me to this new season of candor was the sirloin steak. For the first time, out of all the times (5) that I've been here, it was finally edible! I couldn't believe it. I usually use it as a proxy for beef jerky chewing gum, just to get some masticatory exercise and savor some of the charred beef flavor, before depositing the results on a plate covered with a napkin. I was astonished that I could not only chew and taste this time, but also swallow. The grill master had the steaks butterfly sliced. I don't know if this made a difference, but it did add to the visual appeal. As always, it was also marinated very well. So definitely, a welcome surprise. The chicken wings station is a noteworthy addition. They usually have three favors: Barbecue, Teriyaki and Lemon Pepper (I think). The first time they were kinda dry. But the next time they were tender, but maybe a little undercooked and lukewarm. Hopefully, they will get it Goldilocks right. At least the flavors were decent. The salad bar is a plus. The offerings were plentiful and fresh with quite a few dressing choices. The soups were also pretty solid, usually a feature of 4, one being clam chowder. The fried food here is the one thing that's almost always done well. They must have a state of the art fryer in the back. The fried chicken was nearly on par with some of the better chains' chicken that I've tried. I think it's comparable to Krispy Krunchy Chicken, of which I am a fan (yeah more confessions). I must admit that, as they say, the only thing consistent about Golden Corral is its inconsistency. By that I don't just mean that some of their dishes are good and some bad overall; what I mean is that the same dish that you had last time which was great could be inedible the next. And the item that you couldn't stand last time (like the sirloin) could actually become the night's highlight. One consistent thing I do appreciate is the server/bus ladies. They're pretty dependable for picking up your used plates and bringing you water or other items when you ask. And generally courteous and mindful. Ultimately, my take is that at today's prices (low $20s), Golden Corral is still a deal. And part of the fun is actually is the inconsistency. You're not sure what you going to get. But you can be pretty sure that one or two of the items alone are going to be worth your visit. read more

Let me start with I have been a fan of Golden Corral for years. In my travels I have enjoyed a meal or three at many locations and regret that this location does not stand up even close to the others. So I took family the day after Thanksgiving. It was fairly quiet that night with lots of open tables and you were not standing in line outside waiting to get in. The food was terrible. The roast beef, which I had to come back 4 times over the hour we were there, (kept being told its coming) before i could get a slice and it was so dry and way over cooked. It was like chewing stale jerky. The pork steaks, so tuff, it was hard to cut. The shrimp was so small, they looked like breaded peanuts. The vegetables were extremely over cooked, mushy The desert area was less than favorable with most of the plates empty and the floor sticky. It looked like whoever was responsible for that area had been out on lunch as it had not been attended to in a while. I don't like to give a business a bad review as I know it is hard to run a business, especially in the food industry, but this experience was so bad that the business needs to know they are failing the customers in a major way. There was some good in the night though, the Fried Chicken was excellent and the Mash potatoes were moist. Our server, Mr Chan, was awesome and helped make the night enjoyable. There are a lot of food being served but it is so oily that it is hard to eat a lot in here. The service was amazing tho as the people attending to us are mindful of our big group that came. First timer and I was very impressed! Never been to a GC before and have always wanted to try it. Upon entering it was very clean. I've heard horror stories about GC and the worst that you can find but this was very much not that. All the food was pretty decent as well with my favorite dish being a Cajun chicken and rice jambalaya! The taco meat was also really flavorful and Taco Bell tasting in the best way. Some of the other things like pizza and amc and cheese were very much what you would get at an elementary school (bland) but for the amount of food I ate and the price I paid I was very happy! There are lots of options: salads, soups, vegetables, and plenty of meat -- good old-fashioned American home-style comfort food. The fried chicken was my favorite -- warm, fresh, and tasty. I couldn't eat a ton of it, but it was definitely the highlight for me. There's also a nice selection of desserts, which makes it easy to end on a sweet note. I used to come here back when it was Hometown Buffet, so walking in brought back a wave of nostalgia from my youth. I was very impressed with their selection of food and cleanliness. They had a huge selection of prepared salads (including a crab salad & Russian carrot salad), southern food, desserts, and meat. They even had a ICEE station and an ice cream station. It was impossible to taste everything- there were so many items! I honestly don't know how they can afford to maintain the buffet at such a low price. I went on a weekday lunch buffet and it was $16.99. I would recommend management to at least raise the price to $20 on weekdays and $25 on weekends for fiscal sustainability and maybe have QR codes on the wall that encourages customers to leave tips. Since I paid at the beginning & didn't have cash, I couldn't leave a tip, & feel bad for the friendly staff who checked in with me to make sure I was finding everything okay! Decided to come here , just spontaneous Friday around 10 and didnt know it was a breakfast buffet , we thought breakfast starts only on a weekend but nevertheless we loved it.. The food selection was great except only the bacon was a bit salty but as it reached lunch time, we started getting some pork and chicken and love the taste as always, contrary to what others say the restaurant is dirty, not true.. Staff very friendly except the cashiet who needs to smile a bit.. The cook/chef were awesome, the servers were very nice and friendly.. Ambience and crowd, they're cool, nice to always be in a restaurant that's full, it shows how excellent the business and so is the food.. Will be back soon.. First off, I am rating this against other buffets. Many buffets on Yelp have ~3 stars. Compared to other buffets, I give 4 stars, especially for the cost/value. Some buffets have a few "premium" items like crab legs and overcharge. Value is definitely there, we had fun trying different foods, and the service and cleanliness were good. I feel like buffets have to be appreciated for what they do well - offering a variety of foods you can try as you like and generally having something for everyone. I'm most familiar with Asian/American buffets, so the Southern theme was something new. I enjoyed the greens, fried chicken, and corn bread. The Mexican food section had salsa that was actually spicy including grilled whole Jalapeños. Mashed potatoes and baked fish were very good as well. Balanced the heavy foods with some zucchini, salad, and pineapple - pineapple was perfectly ripe. Kids were happy with the Mac n cheese and fruit, and of course desserts, I had a bit of the bread pudding to finish the meal off and that was pretty good. Ruined Birthday & Hostile Management "I spent $143.70 in cash at this Concord location on March 8th for my son's birthday (Check #1329), and it was the worst experience of our lives. Not only did the staff ignore our table while singing to others, but when we politely mentioned it, a staff member at the door mocked us and questioned if it was even my son's birthday--despite the fact that we were given a birthday discount on our bill! To make matters worse, I called today (3/18) to speak with the General Manager to resolve this. He admitted the service was poor by offering 'free meals,' but when I told him my family no longer feels welcome there and I requested a refund, he HUNG UP ON ME. I called back to get his name, and the staff hung up a second time. This is a hostile and unprofessional environment. If you want to be disrespected and then ignored after spending your hard-earned money, go here. Otherwise, stay far away. I am reporting this to Corporate and the BBB." read more

All Golden Corral s feed Veterans for free on Veteran's Day so today was really busy. The restaurant is clean for as busy as the place is today. I have been to several locations from Hayward to Sacramento and in my opinion this restaurant is the best. Their selection ranges from Latin food to soul food & American. We came a little after 7pm on Saturday and there was no line and plenty of seats. The pot roast and bbq chicken were tender. The mac and cheese was creamy. The fried shrimp was crunchy. The fried chicken was hot and juicy. The salad bar included fresh spinach. The desset selection was decadent. There is one star off is more because there were a few misses. The boiled brussel sprouts were bland and the steak was a bit tough and dry. But considering the variety, there is something for everyone. We ate until we burst! WORSE experience ever at GOLDEN CORRAL. Let me say this 1st the staff is amazing except the person behind the grill and a couple of the kitchen workers but it could be because they are working under horrible conditions. I would be very moody too and not a happy person either. My family of 5 decided to give Golden Corral another shot after the almost similar situation this location seems to have. It was so hot, they had a few industrial fans running to help cool the restaurant. I saw families leave in the middle of there dinner, leave with containers of what was left on their plate because beads of sweat were literally rolling off off peoples heads and faces including our families. Ice cream treats were melted by the time you reached your table and icing was falling off cupcakes because it extremely hot. We could not take ours home like a few did because home was not out net stop and it would have spoiled in the heat of the car. We left there hungry, hot and sweaty and it set the tone of the rest of the night. This is the 2nd time this has happened to us and I am pretty sure it was also on Sunday. Is this a ploy to keep the customers from staying to eat and eating to much? Keep the conditions so UN-enjoyable that people are forced to leave and if not is this a on going issue that has not been resolved.
