While I still stand by what I wrote about coming here for weekend lunch and how hectic it can get, I think the food they offer on weekends is much better than what they serve during weekday lunch. I'm still generally not a big fan of visiting on weekends though. Because the place gets so crowded, you sometimes have to wait a while for certain items to be replenished. But my favorite food that they serve only on the weekend (or dinner) are the Steamed Oysters served in their gigantic shells, which look absolutely impressive, and the Grilled Sweet Shrimp. The Sweet Shrimp reminds me of Tiger Prawns, just much much bigger, and they taste amazing. They're incredibly juicy, and the meat is so tender too. They also offer sashimi on the weekends, although it's limited to Salmon and Tuna. Other than those though, the rest of the food is pretty much the same as the weekday lunch menu. I'm really glad to see they're doing so well. The place was packed when we came here for lunch yesterday. The service was fast and spot on as always. The servers were constantly making their rounds and clearing dirty plates from the tables as soon as they saw them. Great service. I came here for lunch with a friend. Find out the "All you can eat rules" before entering. Got two shrimp the size of a small apricot. This lady with natty hair wearing all black followed me back to my table, said, "I have to take your plate. That's a dinner item." She would not stop talking and repeating her same words over and over. When we got there, we wanted one lunch and one dinner purchase. The guy said you can't have one lunch and one dinner at the same table. But that's their way of upgrading your lunch ticket to a dinner ticket in their favor, meaning more money for them. My Friend said she wanted oysters and crab and the guy said that is a dinner item. The guy then said, "It's all right." He sold us our tickets and took us to our table. They did not explain that at 3:30, they start switching out the trays of food and those are now ALL considered dinner items. Here is the photo, the lady that stands behind the serving table, will chase you to your table over two little tiny pieces of shrimp, takes the TWO tiny pieces of shrimp and scolds you and continues to argue. I understand that a lot of people probably try to take advantage in an all you can eat place, but I've never seen anything so ridiculous over TWO tiny pieces of shrimp that she had to end up just throwing in the garbage and she would not stop talking. I had to ask her to leave my table and even after I asked her to leave my table, she continued to keep talking about the situation and repeating herself over two pieces of shrimp. This buffet was a disappointment overall. Most of the dishes were either too sweet or lacked flavor. The variety of food was decent, but the selection wasn't particularly extensive, and while the quality was acceptable, there wasn't a single dish that stood out or felt worth coming back for. The desserts appeared to be pre-made and brought in from outside rather than freshly prepared, and unfortunately, they didn't taste very good. Cleanliness was also an issue. Some of the plates, bowls, and especially the cups were not properly cleaned--I noticed coffee stains and even lipstick marks on a few cups. On the positive side, the service was fine. Everything from a sushi station, seafood area, meats of all kinds, a Mongolian bbq stir fry section, soups, desserts and much more. A good variety of Asian selections including seafood with variety of shrimp and crab options. There was a limited selection of dessert but we didn't mind considering tge variety of other food. Best decent buffet. The tuna was great and not fishy at all. The grill had quite a bit of options. There was more food than it seemed at first. I was full before I got to try everything. We had to wait unfortunately 2 hours on Father's Day (shocker right ... I'm kidding). They had a lot of sides here and there. The kimchi sucked though. And there wasn't enough ice, it was out in one machine. The seafood boil was amazing though, the corn inside was PACKED with flavor and I think I ate two full corn cobs combined. I asked my buddy if he was down with some Asian buffet and he was all in. We arrived and let the hostesses know we were there to eat. Interesting note, you pay at the beginning. Great idea, this way when you are done you can leave without having to wait for the check. FB has a great selection of Chinese, Japanese, Korean and American (mostly dessert) dishes. Once we got sat it was time for Round 1. I like to walk the aisles to get a sense of the offerings. With FB there was alot. I immediately went with some dumplings, skewers and egg rolls. For Round 2, beef ribs (nice), stir-fried veggies and fried rice. For Round 3, more ribs, kung pao chicken, pork buns and fried shrimp. For Round 4, a few more dumplings, bbq pork and a little more fried rice. It was as that point I was almost ready to hang up the gloves. But, they had red Jello. Of course, I had to balance it out with some fresh cut oranges. Oh, yeah. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. These folks do a fantastic job with buffet. I ate like it was my last meal on Earth and it was heaven. This place is definitely on my Return List. I am more than happy to make the drive out to the East Bay. It was pretty busy when we walked in at around 11:30am. We were greeted by the front counter staff, and payment was made on the spot. After the transaction was completed, one of the staff seated us at a booth. The interior was spacious and clean, but the booth we were in was kind of tight. If I was 20 lbs heavier, I would have trouble getting in and out. Their buffet featured the usual fare - sushi, cooked seafood, Chinese dishes, dim sum, Mongolian BBQ, American food, soups and salad, desserts, etc. I tried many items and thought the overall quality range from average to decent. The Chinese dishes were probably the best part. Options were plentiful and tasted like they were freshly made. The cooked seafood section had clams, crayfish, shrimp, fried and steamed fish, squid, etc. I tried some of them and they were so-so. The sushi selection was limited to low-end rolls and nigiris. Service was very good. The front counter staff were friendly and welcoming, and the floor staff worked hard to clear our table of plates. All in all, I thought the experience was decent. It's very clean inside and the waiter staff are very attentive and nice when they clear off your empty plates. We went for my bf's birthday & he had a great time. He love's Chinese American food and everything on the menu was up his ally. I focused more on seafood to get the most out of my $ and also so that I could eat more. Be careful with the 10% service charge for parties over 8. We didn't realize it was already added, so we ended up paying more than 20% in tips. Also, they ask you to pay before being seated, which makes it harder to double-check the charges. We actually had to go back and ask for a receipt to understand the breakdown. I would like to point out what they failed in. It was one of the best Asian buffet when they first opened, but they have fallen quite far away from when they first started... $31 per person. They used to have huge prawns, fresh oysters, and decent quality sushi. Rest of their food was decent, drinks included. Today: - prawns- tasted muddy, mushy and dry, had something's that tasted and textured like sand in most of them. - oysters were either undercooked or overcooked with poor taste and quality. - sushi's were worse than Safeway quality... actually Safeway sushi is far better than these guys - fried prawns were mushy - ribs has too much of tenderizer, and Chinese herb taste - rest of the food were sub- par at best... Safeway Chinese food is better - no chocolate fondu - ice cream was very cheap - coffee was horrible - soups were watered down like crazy The sodas were the only thing that tasted ok. I would compare the quality of their food on par with China wall buffet... except China wall is much cheaper. No large prawns. I understand cutting cost, but the taste and how they cooked them is the issue. If they want to cut corners like this, they should just get rid of the dishes like the large prawns, and lower their price to compete with places like China wall, not $31 per person. I found the people at the entry-pay-station impossible to understand. They talked so fast I couldn't understand anything they were saying, and they also talked as if everything they were saying the customer already knew. That may be true for repeat customers but as a first-time customer, I had no idea what they were talking about. The place is attractive and there is plenty of parking, which are pluses.
