Oh my, I had no idea the breakfast buffet would have a selection of morning food--" that's what I call breakfast--" and lunch options. Of course, I tried both with the intention of just eating breakfast. But how could I pass up the lunch options? One sausage had a nice spicey flavor; the other was a regular sausage. You know, for the plain folks, smile! There was a choice between cheese grits and regular grits. I went for the regular grits because I was adding jelly this time. I don't know if that's an Ohio or a Mississippi thing. Well, It was the exact same way with the French toast; one was made with cinnamon and nuts, and the other was made regularly. I believe the theme here is we have it all; whatever fits your palette, we have it. I tried the egg and sausage pizza, and that was a winner. I haven't had one since I was in the Seattle airport. So that was a delight. The combination of the sausage links with onion and green peppers was perfect. I ate that twice by itself. I moved over to the lunch options, tasting the fish, chicken, and more. Somewhere along the line I stopped taking pictures and started to sample. Why not enjoy what's before me? The real truth is the place got crowded really quickly. At first, it was just me and a few people. By 8 o'clock, it started to get really crowded. I was on the road traveling home from Florida. Restaurant choices can be somewhat limited when pulling a camper trailer due to the difficulties in parking. I was able to park in the Sam's Club parking lot directly behind this restaurant and walk over. The price wasn't too bad I guess when you consider it is an all you can eat deal but still it was $22 with no break for seniors. They pretty much try to offer every kind of food style option. Most of their offerings did not appeal to me but I was able to find some things to eat for my main meal and filled up halfway. I wanted to save room for dessert. The dessert bar was expansive for a buffet. I will admit, I made three trips because I kept getting very small portions of the cakes. They make the portions small on purpose so you can try several selections. I did try several things but once I tried the chocolate and vanilla cakes, I was hooked on that choice. My server did check in with me several times and I tipped her for that even though I didn't really need anything. The staff was attentive and helpful. To start this off a very important factor in butter is the spreadability... nobody wants to be struggling to spread butter, that's why I am pleased to inform you that the spreadability on this particular butter is a 5/5. Excellent spread. Next, the taste. Not too bad in my opinion, could be better tho, slightly plainer than usual. The creaminess on this butter was over the top. The chefs knew exactly what they were doing And I applaud them for that. The packaging was a simple design, with a simple white tub with a clear cover on the top so that you can clearly see what you're dealing with. Not to mention the simple "GC" representing Golden Corral, incase you forgot where you were. Not sure why they had to say it contains milk, I thought everyone knew that. Not a problem tho. The general appearance of the contents of the container is interesting. In the picture it does seem like you are looking at vanilla pudding but I guarantee you that I, Butter Bandit would never do that to you. Sun June 11, 2023, Golden Corral, McDonough, GA. We stopped in for brunch about 9:40 am. I hadn't been to a GC in quite a few years. I just knew I wanted the ability to have a variety of things this morning. I went with a friend. We decided to split a variety of food to try. This location has an omelet station, steak made to your doneness level, dessert bar. -2 on quite a few items due to complete lack of seasoning on them while being cooked. The steak (medium) was a basic cut. No seasoning added. It was fairly tender. I tried the cornmeal covered catfish. Not my style, but the catfish was cooked perfectly. The fried chicken breast was cooked spot on, but lacked any seasoning also. The scrambled eggs were good. I added some mushroom, onion and bell pepper. I did like the hash brown casserole The breaded pork chop was absolutely perfect and delicious. Sweet tea was average Cranberry cocktail juice was completely a blend of other juices to make it. The Borden chocolate milk, is always good. I must confess, I had 4 of the school size boxes of it! They were chilled on a bed of ice and we're cold cold cold. The only way to truly enjoy them in my opinion. I tried some bread pudding with whipped cream on top. I liked that combo quite a bit. The GC in my opinion blows Shon**y away for pretty much the same price. Sadly where I live, unless we drive 30 miles that's all we have for a breakfast buffet. Our server was very good. She was helpful to everyone in our section. Asking to refill drinks, get more silverware for customers, bring a dish of food, asking how everything was. I wish there were more like her at other establishments, because she really knew her job and great customer care. I tipped her extremely well for a job above and beyond. The restaurant was clean and tidy. Been over 20 years since I have patronized a GC. My father and I had just arrived in town for my aunt's funeral. We were seeking two (2) to-go-orders. Food was actually quite good. The service however, nearly rendered a rage filled tirade against this less than favorable service. It nearly took an act of Congress to obtain plastic ware and the manager was more concerned with being petty and vicious because she didn't like my facial expression and angered silence. Then she decided to "pick" with me with petty indirect comment to her staff. This of course, was after one of the cooks eerily warned me to not lean on any walls for fear of bacteria contamination. This was the strangest malignant dining take out experience I have ever encountered and I live in TEXAS! Lol No, but seriously: Do better. Your staff of four(4) persons at the cash register was overwhelmed with 3 people in line and two(2) to-go orders. Better management training and attitude adjustment is strongly recommended. I love coming here for brunch on Saturday mornings. The highlight has to be the omelette station. You can request shell eggs, or go for the liquid ones, and customize with your favorite veggies and meat options. They have everything you can think of and more for breakfast options. They have free juice (minute maid selections) and more. If you come in right before breakfast ends you get the perks of lunch for the brunch price. You really can't beat it for $10 a person. You spend abut the same for one plate at IHOP or Waffle House. The bathroom is not the dirtiest or the cleanest, but the things that I have seen are really at the fault of the ladies using the restroom and not flushing, not Golden Corral. This location is always packed when we come in on Saturday mornings. I have come during lunch after church or on a Saturday, and honestly, the food is okay. There are a few items that I love, like the fried fish, cornbread, corn pudding, and sweet potato sou-flee. Sometimes the dinner items are hit and miss, but this is the case at most buffets. The food is a MILLION times better than the one in Huntsville (quantity over quality there, I get it but - ) the difference is astounding. Today we realized that this buffet was open. But after entering the building quickly realized we made a huge mistake. Coral is exactly how the line was, just like before. Some not even wearing masks. My anxiety was on overload after we got half way through the line to pay and realized we were in a too close for health environment. We proceeded anyway. Stupid stupid decision. Once we got to a table the waiter was talking so close to our faces he could have kissed us. The food had a strange after taste that was not to be ugly or rude but it truly was horrible.
