I haven't been to Golden Corral since before 2020! The food , well it's OK. For 5 Adults total (2 senior) the cost was $85. I found the chicken to be good, the stuffing and the veggies! If you like a variety and like to not be waited on this is a great place! The staff was not friendly, the waiter we had was but the people putting the food out they didn't even want to answer any questions or serve you the meat they were cutting... it wasn't dirty but it wasn't that clean either. overall I don't need to return. read more

What a disappointment. I went to GC in Hagerstown, MD many years ago when it was new. The WOW factor was incredible...so when I walked in this one and didn't get the same WOW factor ..talk about a disappointment. The food was decent, but the building, as a whole, needs a refurbishment, it seemed incredibly run down. In spite of that, you could tell the staff was doing the best with what they had. I'm diverse! And adaptable! And I love me a good salad bar. (I really don't talk like that.) There are Golden Corrals that are severely lacking. Then there are branches like this that are well-stocked with components for a pretty good meal. They don't have field greens (my lettuce of preference) but I was able to build a salad that I thoroughly enjoyed. And I kept going: thick and creamy New England clam chowder with a minimal amount of potatoes, half a cheeseburger and crisp, seasoned chips made in house. My husband, a skinny guy, tried almost everything. Pot roast, turkey, chicken and dumplings, pulled pork. "There was nothing I didn't like," he said. "I see," I responded. If you're a senior citizen like me you can get the early bird special which starts late morning and extends till 3:00. $10.99 -- what a deal! -- and includes a beverage. I gave five stars because if you like golden corral, you get everything you expect at this location of course it's not prime cuts of meat not the quality you would expect at fine dining, but the food is always very decent. We've eaten here many times and we've enjoyed every time the only complaint I would have is one of the many times we've been here and not the most recent few the ice cream machine was down one time out of many zero complaint other than that. This will continue to be a go to restaurant for us to eat as a family. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and we've had a different server almost every time we've been there. read more

I have dined in other Golden Corrals in other states with great experiences. I dined at this location the other night. I wasn't impressed at all. Right from the drink machine up front where you pay. The sodas were flay, the machine didn't dispense ice. The server took forever to come by the table, and to replenish drinks. They restaurant food layout creates long lines and bottlenecks. It's poorly designed. The quality of the food was just ok, and selection rather disappointing. For a national chain, I've eaten the same foods at many Golden Corrals in many states. But this location didn't have some of the same dishes. For example many other locations have cornbread stuffing. This location does not have it. When I asked the manager why, I got a shoulder shrug and "I don't know"...really ?!? When we tipped the server, she snatched the five dollar bill from my hand and walked away. I heard her say "I appreciate you" and "thank you" when the lady in the table next to us gave her the same five dollar tip. All of these things make me think I will not be dining at the Golden Corral on College Rd in Ocala anytime soon. As well, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a buffet in Ocala. Very limited selection of food. The carving stations were not attended so chicken and fish were the options. The dessert bar was a mess with the chocolate pudding looking to be the safest choice. The floors were filthy with food scraps. This is without a doubt the worse Golden Corral we have been to and certainly not worth the cost by any means. We definitely will not be back. read more

Never ever again at this location, it was my daughter's birthday and we were really disappointed I mean the food had no taste, cold not replenished timely. Salad bar was a disaster onions were extre large this was my intentions to only have the salad bar nothing was worth eating. The pineapples were frozen to the pan , I'm standing there waiting on cookies workers having a conversation and not pushing the cookies forward. Terrible cooks. While our SUV was in repair at Pearson-Nissan I was shuttled across busy SR 200 to The Golden Corral to have lunch. This restaurant offers an inexpensive lunch, that is reasonably priced with a huge variety of choices. There are fresh crisp salads with a variety of dressing to choose from, coleslaw, pasta salads and much more. The entrees have every meat one can think of available plus a variety of tasty vegetables. Finishing with dessert: pie, cakes, cookies, ice-cream...what can I say! I should of known when I first entered.that it was going to be a big disappointment!! The drink counter was litterly covered in water and soda while behind the counter were 4 employees in conversation...when I mentioned was anyone going to clean this up?? I was told to be patient!!! Inside it only got worse. The food absolutely looked less than appetizing. Cold, under cooked on some and very over cooked on others. We arrived at 6:15 with no one in line but us. The dinning room was full but the buffet was clear. I haven't eaten here in years but wanted to check out their new remodel. Finally the smell was gone which is why I stopped going their. But the food was absolutely the worst! The only really good items we're the buttered rolls and the meat loaf! Love Ocala, but dining here is atrocious. The absolutely worst when it comes to good places to eat. Very few good restaurants here. We always have to drive over an hour or more to find a place to dine that you don't waste your money on or get a delicious meal!! Ocala seriously needs some good chief's and establishments! You keep adding all these fast food places and a person can only eat so much of that JUNK before it kills you! So save your money and avoid Golden Coral. We went to the Golden Corral on College Rd in Ocala Fl for lunch on Wed. I have no comment on ambiance or service as they are pretty much all the same. We tried a wide assortment of dishes. Unfortunately 98% of all the supposed to be hot food was cold. There was no designated carver at the meat station so you had to ask for help. The girl that jumped in was very nice but butchered the meat so the slice of Turkey was actually several small pieces that were cut with the grain, and the gravy was on the other side of the room. The cranberry (2 bins) were empty. There were 4 bins of soup all empty for the entire hour we were there, and the deserts were dried out and the Banana pudding was empty. The salad station was a mess and the macaroni salad was made with artificial tasting mayo. There was one hot dish that was good, hot, and juicy, the fried Chicken. I thought the chicken breast on the floor that a handicapped man dropped because nobody would help him was interesting. There was no steak. Over all it was not worth the time or price and eqeeked 1 star. Will NOT go back. Not even for free! read more

Last year when I went to the Ocala location I thought it was one of the best corrals I've eaten at. This year when I went back it was just the opposite. All the hot foods were cold. They had good flavor but they were just cold no heat at all. Then when I went to the salad bar there wasn't a many options that you find at a corral. The biggest kicker was when I went to eat the broccoli from the salad bar it was wet and mushy. I could tell that it was frozen broccoli that they thawed. My wife and I have tried this place 2 times now because we always give a place a second chance after a bad visit. I've owned restaurants and I'll tell you that our second visit wasn't as bad as the first, it was worse. Cashier had a bad attitude to start it off and seemed disconnected from it all. Our server couldn't speak English, rolls were rock hard on the bottom with overall bad service. We were spoiled by the Golden Corral in Springfield Missouri. If you get close to that one do visit. This restaurant sure has gone downhill. For starters, as of this date, it is still impossible to call the restaurant. Their phone system has been down for months. Secondly, during our family's recent visit, we were unable to use our gift cards because of "network issues". The management should have had a way to work around this. We tried contacting the corporate office about those two problems with multiple emails. We have still never received a reply. Cleanliness has also taken a back seat at this location. The table where we sat had barely been wiped and had sticky residue on its surface. We also had problems with some dirty plates and the buffet was messier than it should have been given the low volume of customers. Lastly, the selections at the buffet have noticeably decreased, specifically in regards to vegetables. Oh, and good look getting any fried chicken breasts. We witnessed a customer waiting for over 15 minutes for chicken that never came. Honestly, it feels like the Ocala Golden Corral location is on its last legs. Today I took my service dog Taki, my wife, and a friend who's a military veteran with his service dog to the Golden corral. Almost from the time we arrived, the managerial staff was either harassing us about the dogs or standing behind the glass service counter watching us at our table. It seemed every time I got up from the table and left my service dog in the care of my wife and my friend the management staff would come to the table with some new issues. Apparently I'm not allowed to give my service dog water from my cup. Apparently I'm not allowed to give them something that I'm eating. Now mind you they are fully trained, remained under the table and made no noise. They are both service dogs for PTSD, and as such are very laid back. The third management trip to the table, we decided to leave. I did ask for a refund and the site refused, the general manager was unwilling to do anything to resolve the confrontation that happened at the restaurant. Needless to say, I won't be spending any of my money at Golden corral again and I learned a valuable $50 lesson. I've been with my dog in hundreds of restaurants and out of them have only had three bad experiences this being one of them. I do however want to put it out there that if you have a medium to large size service dog I would recognize you not visiting Golden corral in Ocala. As far as the food, the shrimp and fish was great what I got to eat of it before the staff made it unbearable. The site uses abused plastic plates and cup, which were unpleasant, but like I said the food is edible. read more

There's actually a way to do this where you don't spend $7,000. If you got M-F before 4pm- it's only $10.00 per person. We usually go around 3:45 so we pay the lunch price but get the dinner (dinner has pot roast and made-to-cook steaks). Also, if you sign up for their lil email club, you get a free drink but you have to PRINT the coupon. My husband and I got buffets plus two drinks for under $20! WHAT I LOVE - service has always been decent - plenty of options: pizza, hamburgers, spaghetti, rolls, pulled pork, salad bar, macaroni salad, potato salad, hush puppies, sea food, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, frys, brownies, cookies, pies, ice creams soooo muchhh moreeee - the place has always been clean when we've gone though I've heard this is not the case for every one WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW - sometimes it takes awhile for them to restock food. We had to wait over 5 minutes for a few items - the average person, realistically will get 2 full plates, you just have to decide if that's worth $10 for you.. - it's not delicious. None of this food is the best you'll ever have. None of this food will keep you wanting more or have you go bragging to your friends. This buffet is quantity not quality. - regardless, I still love it.
