Was in town a few weeks ago for work. Stayed at the hotel next to GC. Hadn't eaten at GC in years. I decided to give it a go against my better judgment. Ive been at bad GC in the past but dayum this one blows all my bad experiences outa the water. It was bad bad in here place looked like no one had taken care of it in years. Looked like where dreams come to die. My expectations were not high but man just walking in felt the moral of the place was off. Carpet was nasty floor was disgusting. The general loom looked bad. Any way got a few plates of food and all of it looked like it had been sitting there all day. Most of the food was dried out and tougher than boot leather the steaks were cold and I know they are cheap steaks but man these were rough. Only thing that helped this place was the rolls as always delicious. Dont even get me started on the deserts all the cakes were dry and the desert. Fried shrimp was another good thing on the buffet but I can only eat so much fried food. Restroom was surprisingly clean. Golden Corral 10-05-25 What can I say! It wasn't great but it wasn't bad! It's a buffet. The food was good. They have a good variety of things to choose from. From Soups to Baked Potatoes with all the fixings and fried catfish, Fried Chicken, ham carving station and more. The salad bar was nice. Good variety to choose from. And don't forget the desserts! Coffee was hot and strong just the way we like it. Appreciate the Senior Discount. Pork chops, ham, Mac and cheese and the fried chicken were to die for. All were great and cooked perfectly. I don't know what has happened to Golden Corral but mannnnn... the food was horrible. Pasta was bland and watery... steak, was ok- seems like the cut of meat was from the lowest bidder... We chose Golden Corral, to honor my daughter on what would have been her 54th. birthday, had she not passed away 6 years ago. My daughter's favorite food was steak, and at Golden Corral you can have as much as you like the way you like it! Summary: Not a bad place just has not so good food Honestly loved this place, definitely had a family and friends feel to it, our server was sweet and very attentive to everyone my table included; especially for him being the only one out on the floor. The only thing I didn't exactly like here was the food. it was more of a gamble if you were going to get food that was really good, subpar, or just bad. Some sauces were watery and flavorless, chicken was under cooked, mashed potatoes were clumpy or flaky, rice wasn't seasoned or buttered.. You could tell a lot of things given we're from boxes or just heated up from somewhere. Even with that said I wouldn't mind coming back here, definitely a "if there's nothing else why not" kind of situation but I'd say that's more than what most places can say read more

I enjoyed myself today. We went about one today. The food was really pretty good. My fave bar was the salad one. I enjoyed the bourbon chicken and the stuffing w turkey gravy. The bread was good as well as the carrot cake and pie. This one was run much better than the ones in Houston when I lived there. My wife has told me of her experiences w the ones in KY where she once lived. There was a great variety of food. I enjoyed a burger and biscuit w gravy as well. My husband and I eat at your restaurant every other day at lunch, and we have done so for a couple of years now. Monday, we had lunch and then went to Austin. On the way home we decided to have dinner there as well. We have never had dinner there before only lunch. As soon as I got there from Austin, I needed to use the ladies' room only to find that whole section blocked off for a party. I asked, and they told me it was reserved. I said I really need to pee. They said ok, and I dashed in quickly. In my hast, I did not notice the floor was wet, and I slipped and fell hard, hitting my head on the floor. The smell of bleach burned my eyes and ruined my new dress. I pulled myself up and used the restroom. I told the girl at the door that they needed to put up a sign that the floor in the restroom was wet, and she said why? I told her, "Because I fell." I went to my table and sat there before getting my food because my head really hurt. A young lady with lots of braids came up to me and asked me what my problem was. A bit taken back by what she said, I told her what happened. She walked away to check out the restroom, I guess. She came back and told me that she wasn't going to say that I didn't fall, but if I did and I go to the hospital to call you. And she tossed me your card. I was shocked. An apology would have been nice, but that was never offered to me. Our dinner was ruined, my new dress is all bleached and faded in back. And all I wanted was a bowl of soup, and there wasn't any. I have never been treated so poorly. My husband and I are elderly. Falling is never a good thing for people our age. Oh, and the party they had blocked off the dessert and restroom section for never came and was opened up when we left. I was very disappointed today and heartbroken about our favorite place to eat. It always amazes me to read complaints by overweight people with piled up plates of food, making multiple trips to the buffet, about the food or ambiance at other Golden Corrals. People, it is an $18 weeknight dinner buffet where you can eat good fried chicken, warm meatloaf, and sirloin until you are sick. How much chocolate cake can you stuff down? Here's the place to break your last eating record, accomplished at your sister's wedding, for which she still resents you. The ambiance is clean and well suited towards those families trying to feed growing boys and men who work hard all day. Is it momma's cooking? No. You could always stay home and eat HER food while she tells you all the things you are doing wrong. The staff here, ESPECIALLY ALEX, and the meat chef, were so service oriented and friendly. I tipped Alex well because he really cares if you are happy eating at "his place." I'm not talking $5. Higher. No, not $15. Scootch it up $5. For just little 'ol me??? Damn right. These people wipe up left behind slop your momma we just talked about would whip those sloppy kids for and cancel babysitting services for a month. Y'all are out, healthy, enjoying a decent meal in the world and being served by hard workers. I'd call that a successful dinner in this world of $15.99 per pound meat at HEB and $5 per dozen eggs. First, we had a rude cashier who decided to charge us for the two kids that were standing with their father behind us. So we got that credited back. My steak was not chewable, but surprised they let me have a to go box and take it home to my doggies. Dogs liked it place just looks dirty and the food is not all that tasty here. Wow. The floor staff is very friendly. The grill line though is not efficient. It is very difficult to ever get a cut of sirloin. I have tried this restaurant twice and each time the grill line was a failure. On the second visit, I could not get a slice of sirloin my entire visit. read more

Went to the Temple, TX Golden Corral Sunday the 29th of Jan, 2023at 6:45 PM. There was no salad selection for fresh fruit, only orange wedges. The ice cream machine was not operating. That place was rough lots of dirty tables the walls furniture was even nasty and the men's restroom smelled so bad I ended up picking up three dirty plates from the stand and the food looked old lots of things where missing the whole time we where there no one ever came and gave us refills. I'm never expecting a 4-star experience with any Golden Corral, no matter the location. It's a hit-or-miss experience. This location, however, didn't even make it to the plate. I arrived at 8:07. The location closed at 9:00. I was charged full price. The grill was empty. No steaks available. No baby back ribs available. 2 slices of pizza available - looked like cardboard and had to be at least 2 hours old. 4 rolls available. Pot roast tray 3 pieces available. Grilled chicken 5 pieces available. Deserts? Apple cobbler & bread pudding nearly empty. Chocolate fountain off and being cleaned. Rest of deserts scattered - about 30% full and I'm being generous. If I arrive at 8:07 and the buffet is half-full and you make absolutely no attempt at replenishing it, then charge me half price or lock the front door rather than knowingly steal my money. Three adult buffets aren't cheap and I-HOP is around the corner where real money gets me real food. Oh, did I mention that the only time the employees took notice of the buffet is when I started taking pictures? Seriously though, this is typical of Golden Corrals nationwide, not just this location as I - for better or worse - visit at least 5-7 times a month. And, be forewarned, this is one of the "smaller" GC line buffets so you wont find the "expanded" Italian or other foodie sections for what its worth so fewer options to choose from. read more

I travel a lot for work. Eat out almost always. Now I understand that a buffet is not the best food. But this by far has to be the worst overpriced buffet. $18 for 1 dinner and 1 drink. The server did not come to my table until I was almost done. The vegetables all looked brown. The meat was dry. Like hard to chew. The fried chicken was ok. Had a fairly poor selection. Went to the Temple, Tx location, it was dirty, food was not very neat looking and the price was ridiculous. We eat at other locations and with the senior price it is a bargain at $10 , but on a Sunday this one was nearly $20. The food looked messy and the staff were not friendly. (2016) After church- my Husband and I decided to eat here- along with taking a few of the Special Need Individuals (and their worker) from Sunday School I assist with... I was excited because the individuals are senior citizens- and never ate at a buffet before- due to staying in group homes their entire lives- So I was really excited for them. And when we informed the mgr- and expressed that we want a refund- he told us, 'we should be there for the SERVICE'. I was totally disappointed in his way of professionalism! "NO!" I'm NOT there for the service!.. I'm there for the QUALITY of the food & the CLEANLINESS/SANITATION of the place. I've very disgusted with this place... 3 Stars = A-OK. That sums it up perfectly. Golden Corral is a buffet of Southern comfort food with a nice salad bar and an extensive dessert section. Some of my favorites were Baked chicken - I had a thigh. Great sweet taste and tenderness. Baked fish - Tender, decent taste Cabbage - Cooked like the side dish Sweet potato fries - Just like other restaurants. So good! Bourbon St. Chicken - Tasted like teriyaki chicken, which I love The extensive dessert section was my favorite. There is a chocolate fountain with strawberries and marshmallows and skewers. Making chocolate dipped strawberries and marshmallows was fun and they tasted great. The carrot cake was also very good, though I had to scrape off some frosting because it was too sweet. So it was very much "A-OK". I found the selection a bit limited, but that's probably partially my fault because I'm not into salads or southern comfort food. Awful. From the moment we entered the store. The young male cashier was telling the group ahead of us that their prices were high and he went on to provide the reason but I didn't hear that part. Then he asks my husband if "either of [us are] old." My husband is 60 and I'm 57. My husband asks "what did you say?" and the kid says "oh (rolls his eyes) senior citizen." Then in to the food. It was horrible. Cold when it should have been hot, tasteless in most cases, the soups were burnt meaning they sat there all day, the table next to us smuggled in a puppy and the server did nothing about it. we went for dinner here yesterday. The baked fish was rubbery, could not bite into it. Baked chicken was also rubbery, remove skin and chicken was alright. The cheese for broccoli was nasty! A lot of the food was salty. I made a small chef salad. It and dessert was good, but not worth $13 each. I have ate at other golden corrals before. I am very disappointed in the quality of food here. Poorly managed. This place is a joke. Their new hours have them opening at 11 AM now and they can't even do that on time. We waited 30 minutes for them to open and they came out and said they were having problems with some of the lights and couldn't tell us when they could get it fixed and open. The entire time employees kept showing up and running in, showing all of us that there were several that were late. God knows when they actually opened because a couple dozen of us finally left. This was one of the nastiest Golden Corrals I have EVER been to. All the vegetables had to placed out in the morning due to the fact it was dried out and petrified. I took my family for dinner at 4 pm and the majority of food was old. I would say I was there at least half an hour it wasn't crowded and the same food was still sitting there. The fried chicken, I had a breast it tasted like bleach. I should have been alerted and alarmed when we went to get the self serve drinks before you pay and the ice tray was rusted. read more
