We have not had good luck with Chinese food in Amador County but I am pleased to report we finally have a great Chinese restaurant! The food is fresh, not dowsed in sauce, the flavors were delicious in everything we have tried. The new decor is clean and fresh and the bathrooms too. We were greeted by the cutest little, I mean little 3rd grade girl, who seated us. This is a family run restaurant and you can tell. They have warm customer service and take pride in their menu. We LOVE the Shanghai Noodle dish and the Wor wonton soup is so good! read more

Ordered take out the other night, and everything was delicious. Ordered the twice fried chicken with basil, sweet and sour pork, egg rolls and sesame balls. Both meat dishes were fried, and neither were dried out! Often times when eating fried dishes at Chinese restaurants we end up with chewy dried up meat chunks, not here. Everything was super fresh and delicious. I'm not usually one to eat the onions and peppers with the meat, but I am currently devouring what was left of the chicken and all the veggies are so fresh I can't help but eat them all! Can't believe I found a restaurant that serves sesame balls, I haven't had them in almost 10 years, they're one of my favorites. Only "issue" was we were told 10 minutes to pick up (which we assumed was going to be too fast) and it was more like 25. However all my food was fresh and delicious and I am not complaining at all about waiting since that makes me believe they're not in the back just re-heating old food! Forgot why I stopped coming here years ago until I ordered takeout last night. Basically everything we ordered we tasted and threw out. A waste of $28.00 and food. Hot and sour soup was nasty, grease floating on top, took one taste and threw it away, pot stickers also nasty, chewy with a weird coating, egg rolls ( how do you screw up egg rolls ) greasy and nasty and finally chicken chow Main , tasted like they cooked it in the same pan they use for fish... if you like disgusting food this is your place. Never again. If No stars was an option I would of used it. read more

This is a new, old restaurant. A few years back, it was always packed. It was a popular Chinese buffet. For years. Then it was sold and the restaurant cook couldn't cook and people stopped going. It is in its 3rd ownership now, not as a buffet but as a restaurant with new owners. And....the cook still can't cook and the clientele is very small in numbers. I took home a lunch menu to see if I was just ordering the wrong thing. The very first time I was there, I had General Tso's pork. Excellent for a just- opening restaurant to produce! Soup was good then, downhill since. Next tried the Gen. Taos (the way they print it.) chicken: stringy, dry, tough white meat. My dog ate it. Went back a third time,ordered the pork; it was crispy dry: it had been re-cooked. Just like the texture of the chicken. Today I ordered "Phoenix Prawns" . $7.95 After consulting diff. internet sites I decided I would prob. be ok with these, which are a batter fried PRAWN. Got: a handful of shrimp. No prawn sized, no batter fried. Just stir fry w/ mostly that tasteless chicken again and vegs. . Usually I can be satisfied with chow mein but those noodles were tasteless too. Hence, this review. Just two stars for the cook. The service rescues this 3 star rating. read more

Food was OK. Miss the previous owners who had a buffet everyday. Got my bill and it wasn't itemized. So I did it myself and discovered the owner was charging 8% sales tax in a 7.75% county. I confronted her and she told me it was only so little more. Hello!!! Mmmm, do you think she sent the difference to the state, or a charity or maybe offered it up to all the statues of her gods placed all around the restaurant. read more

This is the best Chinese food in the central foothills. Most noticeable is the meat: Their meet tastes like it was freshly grilled onsite--not the rubbery stuff often associated with Chinese food in rural areas. They also are generous with their spices without drowning the food in sauce--another refreshing departure from typical Chinese food in this area. They don't need to drown the food in sauce here because the underlying food is of much better quality. The mu shu chicken was excellent, with just the right amount of plum sauce. The Singapore street noodles are fantastic, especially when ordered extra spicy. The taste and texture of the dry curry seasoning on the noodles is wonderful. Shrimp is perfectly cooked--pink, soft, and just done. No fishy taste at all. Portions are comically enormous so you're getting two meals for the price of one. The restaurant and bathrooms are spotlessly clean, though sparsely decorated. The only thing that could use a little improvement is the hot and sour soup, which needed a bit more umpf, maybe more sourness and slightly spicier. Definitely recommended! read more

My husband and I discovered this place a couple weeks ago and had an excellent experience with the food. The service was sub par, however, their hot and sour soup is hard to rival, so we let it slide. Last night we soon discovered this is a take out only type of place if you don't want your appetite ruined.... We seated ourselves and two other couples sat down minutes after us. We had been ready to order, but the other couples were helped before we were. Just a pet peeve of mine, but it was ok since we knew how good the food would be. Second strike was bringing me a dirty bowl for my soup and giving attitude when I asked for a clean one. Getting a refill of water was like pulling teeth, as well.Third strike was when our beef entree was served 20 minutes before anything else. Our soup and noodles came out together. So after being irritated at the weird sequence of food distribution, I gave my credit card to pay. It was declined! Funny since I even triple checked and I had well over the amount due to cover it. So I paid with my other card, whatever. What was really fun about that situation is, when the server explained it was declined, she smiled in a snarky way and then took my cookie away...I guess I didn't need it since I know my fortune is to never return here unless I'm ordering out! read more

After foregoing Chinese food in Amador County for years because it basically all sucked so badly, on a recommendation of a friend we tried Golden Dragon on Sept 1st. I have to admit, it was the best Chinese I have eaten anywhere outside of Hong Kong. Fresh, flavorful and perfectly spiced. We had the Szechuan dinner for two which included hot and sour soup (delicious but temp could have been hotter) creme cheese won tons(hot and crispy), Kung Pao chicken (wonderful), Mongolian beef (best ever) and pork fried rice (very tasty). Not greasy at all, very tender and fresh meats and veggies, Liked it so much, and there was so much food, I had the leftovers for both breakfast and lunch the next day. Am thrilled there is someplace to enjoy besides the Thai restaurant which is also very good. read more

I was leaning towards one star but the service was prompt and pleasant so they get the benefit of the doubt. But that does not mske up for the poor quality of our meal. The starter hot and sour soup was overloaded with soy sauce and bitter tasting - yech, not a way to get things going. Main course was a dreadful sweet and sour chicken - the meat tasted old, borderline rancid. Minimal sauce, super-hard veggies. I know, they're mainly for decoration but would it hurt to cook them with the chicken? The chow mein - must be from a can. So bland and gloppy. But hey, the steamed rice and hot tea worked! read more
