It's clean and central to many locations in town. The chief complaints I have are these: 1. The walls of the hotel are paper-thin. You can hear *everything* going on outside your door and the rooms next to yours. 2. There are no TVs in any of the rooms. For #1, nothing to be done about it but go in forewarned. For #2, not knowing that was totally our fault. The TV situation is listed on their website. But TVs are such a standard item, who thinks to look for that note..? :P Now. The best part of our hotel stay was Ulina. She was the front desk rep when we got there. She was extremely friendly and very helpful in getting us settled in. She went above and beyond her duties to make sure our 2 night stay (that turned into a 1 night stay due to job issue) was stress free and comfortable. If you stay here in the future, ask for Unlina, you will not be disappointed. :)

The main dining room only has three or four tables, so I recommend calling ahead for a reservation. The shareable plates and desserts were delightful, but there were some issues with the mains: Brussel sprouts had an incredible glaze, a perfectly balanced dish. Salmon bowl was okay... kimchi and seaweed salad were excellent but the salmon tasted like the pre-marinated cuts from any chain grocery store. Large plate, I could only eat about half. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare! The portion, however, was very small. Chicken pot pie was frightful, I wish I would've taken a photo of it. Presentation was... deconstructed to say the least. It looked like a slop of filling plopped on a plate with ~half of a biscuit in the middle of the mess. A dissatisfying disappointment, especially for a $40 dish. The desserts were wonderful! Rating four stars instead of five due to the menu being an overpriced for the overall quality of the main courses. You're definitely paying to eat at a beautiful historic hotel, not for the quality of the food.

I really wanted a quaint place to stay for my birthday and I'm really glad we chose The Pines Inn…read moreand Cottages. Upon first arrival we saw the place had festive Halloween decorations, which I love. Tony immediately came out and greeted us, then directed us to where to park. He then gave us a quick tour of our room, then gave us a tour of the rest of the outside areas. I love how personal Tony was and his genuine enthusiasm in showing his establishment. After we had settled in, we were able to inspect the cottage and it was ideal for two people. Everything was exceptionally clean. The kitchen had utensils, dinnerware, and cookware. The bathroom was also in good condition. The only inconvenience encountered was from my husband (as he is a tall individual) that the toilet area was slightly cramped. We were told that our rooms bed was just upgraded to a king size. Let me tell you, that bed was big and ridiculously comfortable. We both slept so good, we couldn't stop talking about how comfortable it was. As we left for dinner the ambiance of the place was truly enchanting. The beautiful lights created a magical environment, and the canopy with the projector added to the inviting atmosphere. He had kindly opened some wine for us, and we helped ourselves to it upon our return. Tony asked us before he left, what we would like for breakfast. I opted for toasted bagel w/ cream cheese & honey yogurt. My husband asked for avocado toast with fresh fruit. The next morning, he delivered our breakfast to our room. To say we were shocked at how good and fresh everything was, would be an understatement. We certainly plan to visit again in the future. Thank you, Tony, for your wonderful hospitality.

Happy vibes here with an outdoor garden area and lots of seating even lounge chairs. In front of each room is also a table and two chairs for dining al fresco. Pretty spot though you hear the traffic going by when outside. Inside the room it is faint. I liked that my room was one level (nobody upstairs). However, I had a neighbor in the next room who got up at 5am and was heavy footed and had a dog. The noise they made traveled into my room. They woke me up and kept me awake way before I planned to get up. Noise level depends on who ends up next to you. Luckily they were not there for my entire stay. The room was just right and I like the way it looked and the covenience of a kitchen with a full size fridge and stove top and microwave. I bring my own pans. I am glad because I didn't like the pans in the room. I appreciated that the fridge didn't make hardly any noise. Less than mini fridges in most hotels!! Bed was comfortable and management was reachable via text message and provided information via texts that was helpful. Beautiful trees on property and I liked that behind my room was left unmowed-good for nature and made it private. I also loved that the windows opened (four windows in the room (on both sides). I'd definitely stay at The Pines Inn again.

We arrived before check in time and Andrea greeted us with a smile and offered to check us in early. I told her I have sleeping issues and could we be placed in a quiet area with a room. She said she knew the building with rooms 163-170. When we got to the room it was nice and warm, (a problem that we had at The Pines, a small space heater only because the wall unit wasn't working and no maintenance on the property.) We're old and there's good lighting for night time on the exterior. I left the party at 9 PM and stopped by the office for an extra blanket. The two women working were friendly and helpful. The bathroom had a new shower, glass doors and a rain shower head. I always bring my grey slippers for travel. The carpet was very clean and I was so pleased because I'm not used to that. I told my hubby, this is where we are staying in the future when we drive down to see the family.

At one point in the night our toilet stopped working and the front desk said "You can come get the plunger I am busy". Not to mention the non smoking room wreaked of cigarettes and when the AC was turned on it smelled like fish. This ruined Best Western for me for life. On top of it all they would not let us move rooms and management wouldn't respond to help make the issue right. An over $400 stay that wasn't worth $100. Stay away.

Barbara answered the phone and she was so pleasant and helpful, I knew it wasn't a mistake. Peter greeted us upon our arrival. He was just too sweet! Walked us around, gave us our key, etc. He told us about the various areas of interest and we had a great conversation about where they moved from. I was sorry to not meet Barbara, she was visiting family. The house is darling, lots of antiques and nick-nacks, cabinets full of crystal and old teacups & China, lots of family pictures. It was like walking through my great-grandmother's house. We stayed in the Brunswick room, overlooking the backyard. Quiet & peaceful, like we stepped back in time when things were simple. I was pleased that there was no TV (they do have WiFi, don't panic). Overall, it was a great stay and I hope to visit again.
