The couple that own and manage the Inn gave us perfect rooms that fit our group . - I was impressed how well maintained the property was and the level of cleanliness. This is a 100 plus year old property and is beyond charming . Further , Mrs. innkeeper was as nice as they come . She made sure that we had what we needed and was very conscientious! We had a really wonderful stay at the Broad Street Inn and in Nevada City and Grass Valley, thanks to Julie and Ron. Julie gave us great suggestions on places to eat in both towns. They also gave us great recommendations of hikes in both towns and along the south fork of the Yuba River. Our room was nice and it's a very short walk to the restaurants in town. They also have a lovely patio area in the back of the house. We could not have been happier with our stay. We hope to go back. The stairs are steep so if you have trouble with stairs, you might want to stay in Room #1 on the ground floor. read more

My husband and I spent three nights in January at this wonderful place. Others have mentioned the warmth and helpfulness of the hosts, which goes far beyond what one usually encounters. Our room on the second floor was beautiful, with a nice view, and just a few steps from a Sun Room common area which had coffee, home-made biscotti, fruit, and complete kitchen appliances and furnishings. We usually have our main meal mid-day and bring leftovers home; here the microwave enabled a light, hot meal in the evening. For breakfast we had toast, cheese, fruit etc. So the Sun Room in effect saved us money on food. All in all, a terrific experience. read more

Wonderful, charming, quiet, historic and affordable inn on the edge of downtown. The inn's owners, Julie and Ron, are friendly and were so helpful to us with local recommendations on hikes, restaurants, historical places. We were three couples on a weekend visit to see a musical performance at the Miners Foundry. We were able to ditch the car and walk to the concert and restaurants. We enjoyed hiking the Deer Creek Tribute Trail without needing to drive to a trailhead. Rooms are small but wonderfully appointed with comfy beds. And we were encouraged to use the downstairs parlor for gathering. We also appreciated the quiet hours posted for 9 to 9. We all agreed we want to return. Ron and Julie are the perfect people to be running such a place. The home has charm. The rooms are small, but everything is very clean. From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with friendly smiles and warm conversation. Ron will even have home made biscottis waiting for you in the sun room, open 24/7 if you want a sip or snack. The location is a couple of short blocks from the shops and restaurants in Nevada City, but far enough away to avoid the noise of downtown. Also, the price was very reasonable. It was disappointing. Upon speaking with Julie, I asked if the stores and restaurants were open on Monday and Tuesdays. She replied she didnt know...she said she didnt get out much. so we went ahead an d booked our 2 night stay for Monday and Tuesay and sad;y half if not more of restaurants were closed as well as the stores. She lives there...of course she knew. On Monday morning we were awakened by the 7am trash trucks. Our hot water for the bathroom faucet was not working. I have been meaning to write a review for this inn for almost 2 weeks! I was so impressed by how immaculately clean this inn was. My room was spotless and let me tell you I really checked everything! My bedroom has a view of the street and the deck- the cheerful orange color was exactly what I needed for my 3 day getaway. I loved the fact that the owner makes fresh biscotti for guests in the sunroom, they provided so many small details ranging from wine glasses to wide coffee options. The patio and backyard were so beautiful watching the fall leaves. I had an amazing bath in their tub- and had a nice space heater as well! I practically had the whole place to myself for one of the nights which made this feel so cozy. I would love to stay here again, the attention to detail, customer service, pricing and location made this mini getaway feel so lovely. I cannot wait time come back! Had a terrific stay at this very cute and perfectly located (walking distance to downtown- heck, you're really practically in the downtown). Very clean, decorated very nicely and the part I loved most was that everything in the guests' dining area was clearly marked so that you wouldn't mix up your cinnamon and chocolate. I've stayed at Broad Street Inn many times over the past several years and it is always a huge treat. Julie and Ron could not be more welcoming, and the rooms and property are impeccable. It is totally charming with every amenity you would want. Whenever I arrive, I exhale and know it will be a time of relaxation and ease. This last visit, I was relaxing outside with my morning coffee and Ron actually swung by with the coffee pot to give me a refill. (Who does that?!! A person who notices and cares, that's who...) As a mom who always takes care of everyone else, I cannot tell you what a kind and unexpected gesture that was. There is an adorable kitchenette (actually, there are two... one upstairs by the rooms and one downstairs by the outdoor space...) that has a full coffee bar, ice maker, filtered water, oatmeal, popcorn, microwave, fridge, even homemade biscotti. Speaking of which, there are three pretty distinct outdoor spaces: one in front of the house, and two in the back on separate levels.. So... plenty of room to spread out and find your own place to relax alone or with your travel companions. The location is perfect: a couple blocks to the main part of town with shops and restaurants, but situated in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood where you can chill out. One thing to keep in mind is that it is like a bed and breakfast, in that it is an old Victorian home--so the rooms are close together and the walls are on the thin side (as any cozy home would be...). If you plan on swinging from the chandeliers partying in your room til all hours of the night, this is not the hotel for you. Obviously, I am a huge fan of Broad Street Inn and especially Julie and Ron. They provide something that is rare and valuable, and they deserve to be recognized for it. read more

A beautifully kept, lovely inn with truly hospitable people. The place is close enough from the downtown but away enough (only a short walking distance) from the noises/traffic. We were able to park right in front. Everything in the inn was very clean and pretty, and the hosts Ron and Julie were very welcoming, genuinely nice people. It was such a pleasant stay and the relaxed, feel good vibe permeates throughout, so other guests are also naturally in a good mood, which made the whole experience even better. Booked a weekend for my mom's birthday. The Inn had really good communication with me - very responsive and helpful. We stayed in Room 5 - which is the smallest room - but it was just right. The room was clean and super cute. There was a coffee/tea bar available - there was a microwave and a fridge to keep your leftovers. The first thing I want to say is that the pictures on the website are accurate to what you get. I booked room five and feel that the size of the room was small, but very comfortable. The bathroom felt more spacious and had good quality bath products (soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash) stocked. The water temperature and pressure from the shower was also good. Julie was very friendly and shared some local recommendations to us during check-in. The location of the inn is less than a five minute walk to the downtown strip that has a market, bars, and stores. Thank you Julie (and Ron, although we never met) for having us! The lack of diversity in this town made my fiancé feel uncomfortable at some points in this trip, but we felt very welcome here. read more

My husband and I had never been to Nevada City, CA. The owners of Broad Street Inn, Julie and Ron, welcomed us in (no pun intended) and treated us like family. Our room was absolutely lovely. I'm a little OCD about cleanliness, and our room could not have been cleaner! A contributor to this is there is no carpet...yeh! Each room has a color scheme and is tastefully decorated. There is a breakfast nook for all guests to enjoy that overlooks the backyard. This is where coffee, tea, hot chocolate, fresh fruit and Ron's delicious homemade Biscottis is quaintly spread out. There is also a small refrigerator for all to share, a microwave oven, ice and unlimited water. We enjoyed the evenings in the backyard. It is the perfect setting. I love the exterior color of the Inn that Ron and one of his four sons painted not so very long ago. Don't miss out on all the wonderful things there are to do in and around Nevada City. My Husband and I stayed with a few friends here over the past weekend. He and I stayed in the Carriage House in the back. It was nothing short of amazing with AC, a full kitchen and bathroom, beautiful living room and a lovely bedroom. I love to stay places where you can cook and it had everything you needed to do so. The Inn has a cute little break room with dishes and utensils with a nice little fridge for leftovers. There's a coffee pot and tea kettle set up along with snacks and popcorn for late nights. My daughter from New York city and I from San Francisco checked into the Broad Street Inn for a weekend in the Gold country. from the minute we checked in to the minute we left we were welcomed. What a wonderful experience with Ron and Julie at the helm of this beautiful and warm and inviting place. The rooms were clean and decorated so nicely and I just felt at home and so safe. Ron and Julie were so great about places to eat and local information. In the morning there was fresh biscotti that Ron made himself ( so delicious) fresh fruit and the best coffee I have ever had. I never drink more then one cup in the morning, I had three!! I can't say enough great things about this stay at the Broad Street Inn, but I cannot imagine myself staying anywhere else on my next trip to the Gold Country. The Broad Street Inn is a great place to stay in Nevada City. We were attending the annual Victorian Christmas event and this Inn is definitely the right choice! It is walking distance to the event and the central downtown district. The Inn itself is comfortable and a modernized quaint, with remotes for the TV and lights. Ron and Julie, the proprietors, were always available to answer questions and make suggestions. They even placed cones out front on the street so that we were able to park there. This is my number one choice for a place to stay in Nevada City. read more
