Beautifully restored 150 year old hotel right on Main Street. We stayed Friday (Cornish Xmas) & Saturday (Nevada County Toy Run) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Peak pricing at this time of year & you need to make reservations well in advance. We were in room #8 that faces the parking lot and was accessible by the staircase leading to the back of the hotel. Room had a super comfortable bed, quality linens, claw foot tub and was reasonably quiet. Good coffee, scones & a mushroom Frittata that was ok at best included with your stay. Parking is a nightmare as mentioned in other reviews,so we used Uber on one outing to save the space. Street parking can be a challenge especially during the holiday season. We received a call from the hotel prior to our stay to confirm our reservation and to let us know the street would be closing at 3pm due to the Cornish Xmas going on our front. I asked for earlier check in, which they allowed and I thought the good communication was a nice touch and professional. We visited the Tinsel Tavern, located in the basement of the Holbrook, which I would describe as a Seasonal,Adult Ice Castle with over the top decorations in an antique Speakeasy. Good times, good drinks and good service. All the employees were great. Overall a fun holiday weekend.

Drinks were amazing. Food was amazing. Only thing that would make it better would be getting a room and having more drinks!!

The Holbrooke Hotel has a pop up seasonal bar in their downstairs area and it's adorable! Tinsel Tavern is like stepping into an ice castle-it's magical! Serving cocktails and snacks. We had a peppermint ice cream, Chex mix and gingerbread cookies served with a hot buttered rum. It was so fun!

We went to the Holbrooke Hotel for a girls night and we had an amazing stay. Four of us lifelong friends in our early 50's. The room was clean and beautiful and we enjoyed the outdoor balcony. We had dinner there and the appetizers and entrees were all so delicious. We had a drink at the bar and also went down to the Speak Easy in the basement and enjoyed a drink there as well. The firepit on the back patio was a nice touch. We enjoyed the free coffee, scones and Frittata in the morning, as well. The lobby and interior of the hotel is stunningly beautiful, and the hotel is walking distance to Mill Street and the all of the wonderful shops and restaurants there. We had a great time!

The Historic Holbrooke Hotel is NOT a 3.6 rating!! This place is a 4.5 without a question. Staff is professional, young and helpful. We celebrated my sisters bday here! And this beautiful Place gets loud, which is a good thing!! Food is great! Tinsel Tavern was sooo cool!! Service could have been just a tad more attentive. But, ya know... some nights are like that. The spinach/Artichoke Dip and bread was a 10!! Best I'd ever had! And I've had ALOT! Place was clean, FUN and super cool!! Like a Winter Wonderland!! Take your girlfriends for sure!!!! I did notice A lot of women in big girl groups. Make sure to make a reservation, and then.... Enjoy!!!!

Had a really nice meal at the Holbrook Hotel Restaurant. The Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly -- crispy on the outside, tender inside, and full of flavor. I also tried a quesadilla, and it was so tasty and satisfying. The atmosphere is charming with that cozy historic feel, and the staff was kind and attentive without hovering. It's a great spot to relax, have a good meal, and enjoy the small-town charm. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu.

The Holbrooke Hotel has a pop-up holiday bar located downstairs. The Holbrooke hotel decorates the bar downstairs in a different theme each year. This year's decorations were out of this world. Tinsel's Tavern is decorated to the nines. The bar offers signature craft cocktails serviced in holiday glasses and snacks. The speakeasy is a must if you are in Grass Valley. You will need to make a reservation to ensure your seat. The bar is open right before Thanksgiving to a little after New Years.

This beautiful, historical hotel was a delight to stay in. The clawfoot tub to soak in, balcony overlooking Main St, the attentive pleasant staff, historic bar, restaurant, and the most comfortable bed ever. I would stay here again. Loved it. No TV was a great option as it lent to the historical charm.

I would like to start with the parking. Almost impossible. The lot was full upon arrival (I'm assuming due to the holiday). Parking is shared with the hotel, bar and restaurant. We had to wait quite a bit to park. From the parking we "Guessed" we should walk through the back door through the dining area to the tiny front desk. We were given our key and then went back through the dining room and parking lot to the carriage house. The room was sparsely decorated and cold upon arrival. The bed was super comfy. The sink in the room was a bit strange but the clawfoot tub was cute. Unfortunately when I went to take a shower the next day the tub felt like I was going to fall through (I weigh 100 lbs) Now back to the arrival. We called the front desk to find out how to turn up the heat and had to leave a message. Sometime during the late evening the room heated up (Not sure how this happened we didn't have a thermostat and never heard back from the front desk). It was a bit challenging changing clothes in the cold. The walls are extremely thin. The hotel does offer to give you earplugs and if your light sleeper, I suggest you take them up on this offer or bring your own. The walls are very, very, very thin. You can hear guests conversations throughout the hallway and all the way out the door. Noise from the street is also pretty prevalent. I had read the reviews and anticipated this so I brought headphones that were noise canceling to help me fall asleep and drown out the noise in the hallway. Now to The dinner: We arrived 15 minutes early and were told we could have a seat in the bar to wait for our reservation. We ordered a drink from the bartender (and that's a whole Nother story) and received a very tasty drink. However, the bar top was sticky and dirty. I couldn't touch the bar top without getting syrupy hands. I watched the bartender several times use a cleaning rag to wipe off glasses she was serving drinks in (she had overfilled almost every drink). Luckily about this time we were seated for dinner (I did not finish my drink). To my dismay, we seated in the bar area at a table that was empty when we arrived, (It was directly behind were we were sitting at the bar) and I'm not sure why we had to wait to be seated due to the fact that there was a reserved sign on the table. The bar was loud, noisy and the overcrowded (SRO by this time). I did not enjoy having to sit in the bar for my holiday dinner. Had I known we would be seated in the bar I wouldn't have made the reservation. Perhaps in the future this can be noted ahead of time so request can be made for the dining room or canceled. Our dinner consisted of a four course meal. We started with the super green salad, which was delicious. It was dressed with a creamy green goddess dressing salad consisted of sliced beets, greens and croutons. Perfect. Next onto the risotto also delicious however, I was full from the bread and the salad before dinner so I couldn't finish the whole meal. Lastly, we had the chocolate torte. It was topped with a black berry sauce. It was perfect size and delicious. I only had a few bites because I was full. I have absolutely no complaints about the food or service. It was simply amazing. The hotel is located right in the middle of town. You can walk everywhere (which I suggest you do because parking is horrible). If you can find parking at the hotel, keep your car there and walk. Take advantage of the local coffee shops and eateries. We did and were not disappointed.

Came in this afternoon to enjoy a cocktail and wind down after a busy day. Visited May 7th..see receipt. This is a beautiful remodeled hotel with nice indoor and outdoor dining (dogs ok in outdoor dining area). It is located in the heart of downtown Grass Valley with plenty of shops and restaurants to walk to. It has a long history in Grass Valley and they used to do ghost tours around the holidays (not sure if they still do it). The bar is beautiful and the lobby and indoor dining is very inviting. It's classy but still casual. I had a glass of wine and my friend had an old fashioned. See the video..they make it special! The drinks are a bit pricey but the ambience makes up for it. They also serve lunch and dinner with an eclectic menu. They used to have a smoker which made the best chicken wings..and would smell so good on the outside dining patio (bring it back!). Its a great place to hang out with friends! Check out the elevator..its a classic! Parking available behind the restaurant. Great place to bring friends or family!

Dear Tongming and Faith,…read more I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional experiences we have had at Harmony Ridge Lodge over the past five years. Nestled in the Tahoe National Forest, your lodge remains our favorite getaway and truly feels like a home away from home. Every visit is spectacular, and the service we receive is always outstanding. We especially enjoy the serene atmosphere of the whimsical gardens and the comfort of the nine spacious suites. Having access to the entire lodge--including the front lounge and the kitchen for cooking meals and hosting karaoke--makes our annual two-night stay incredibly special and seamless. We are consistently impressed by your dedication, professionalism, and hospitality. You both go above and beyond to make us feel like family, and the intimate experience you provide is unmatched. Thank you for maintaining such a safe and pleasant retreat. We look forward to many more visits and will continue to highly recommend the lodge to anyone looking for a perfect venue for weddings, retreats, or family getaways.

Harmony Ridge Lodge was truly more than perfect for our wedding. One of the biggest reasons we…read morechose this venue was that it gave us a whole weekend with our family and bridal party, and that ended up making such a huge impact on our experience. Some of the most intimate and meaningful memories were made before and after the wedding, during breakfast, late into the night after the rest of the guests had left, and in all the quiet little moments in between. It made the entire weekend feel so special, connected, and full of love. And the beauty of the venue is honestly hard to put into words. Choosing a venue is such a big decision because it sets the entire tone and vibe of the wedding, and Harmony Ridge Lodge was truly the magical enchanted forest garden party venue of our dreams. Our wedding was on June 13, and the flowers, greenery, trees, and forest backdrop must have been at their absolute peak. Everything felt like it belonged in a fairy tale. The string lights, lanterns, gardens, and surrounding forest made the whole space feel warm, romantic, and magical. We had our rehearsal dinner here too, and brought in some Mexican catering, which ended up being a great way to maximize our time at the venue and it was so fun! For other engaged couples navigating the venue layout: there are many options for where to have your ceremony ( in the forest or gazebo), and dancing (renting a dance floor to have near the dinner area or the dance pad out front). We had our ceremony at the gazebo which was epic and beautiful and our dance party out front at the dance pad. Up until the wedding itself, I was worried that having dinner and dancing in separate spaces would split up the guests, but it ended up being perfect. Everyone was on the dance pad all night, there was so much space, and it looked so beautiful once the lights came on. It created such a fun and lively atmosphere. The breakfast was also incredible. Our chef was amazing, and we had several vegan guests who were so grateful to have thoughtful vegan options that actually had protein, flavor, and care put into them instead of just toast and fruit. That meant so much to us and to our guests. Thank you so much to everyone at Harmony Ridge Lodge for making our wedding so memorable, smooth, easy, lovely, and perfect in so many ways. We are so grateful we got to celebrate our wedding weekend in such a magical place.

She collaborated with our vendors promptly and effectively. She was candid about her expectations and humored our silliest asks! Although guest parking is a bit of a trek from ceremony/party space, it is wheelchair accessible and it's set up in such a way that a member of the party can "valet" for those who might be unable to walk up the hill. The space is a California dream. Lush wedding lawn, surrounded by evergreens, there is a small lake and even a cute swing set and trampoline! My only wish is that I'd met her (and her husband) BEFORE we were getting married so we'd have the privilege of having them as GUESTS instead of a VENDOR at our wedding.

We approached and they informed us that we could go take a look around the property, (unguided, uninformed, and in the rain). When we returned to the front about ten minutes later everyone was gone and there was a person outside that informed us that we could take our shoes off and go inside the guest house with the ~15 other people that were there. Upon first arrival we saw the place had festive Halloween decorations, which I love. Tony immediately came out and greeted us, then directed us to where to park. He then gave us a quick tour of our room, then gave us a tour of the rest of the outside areas. I love how personal Tony was and his genuine enthusiasm in showing his establishment. After we had settled in, we were able to inspect the cottage and it was ideal for two people. Everything was exceptionally clean. The kitchen had utensils, dinnerware, and cookware. The bathroom was also in good condition. The only inconvenience encountered was from my husband (as he is a tall individual) that the toilet area was slightly cramped. We were told that our rooms bed was just upgraded to a king size. Let me tell you, that bed was big and ridiculously comfortable. We both slept so good, we couldn't stop talking about how comfortable it was. As we left for dinner the ambiance of the place was truly enchanting. The beautiful lights created a magical environment, and the canopy with the projector added to the inviting atmosphere. He had kindly opened some wine for us, and we helped ourselves to it upon our return. Tony asked us before he left, what we would like for breakfast. I opted for toasted bagel w/ cream cheese & honey yogurt. My husband asked for avocado toast with fresh fruit. The next morning, he delivered our breakfast to our room. To say we were shocked at how good and fresh everything was, would be an understatement. We certainly plan to visit again in the future. Thank you, Tony, for your wonderful hospitality.

Pretty spot though you hear the traffic going by when outside. Inside the room it is faint. I liked that my room was one level (nobody upstairs). However, I had a neighbor in the next room who got up at 5am and was heavy footed and had a dog. The noise they made traveled into my room. They woke me up and kept me awake way before I planned to get up. Noise level depends on who ends up next to you. Luckily they were not there for my entire stay. The room was just right and I like the way it looked and the covenience of a kitchen with a full size fridge and stove top and microwave. I bring my own pans. I am glad because I didn't like the pans in the room. I appreciated that the fridge didn't make hardly any noise. Less than mini fridges in most hotels!! Bed was comfortable and management was reachable via text message and provided information via texts that was helpful. Beautiful trees on property and I liked that behind my room was left unmowed-good for nature and made it private. I also loved that the windows opened (four windows in the room (on both sides). I'd definitely stay at The Pines Inn again.
