shrimp broccoli with white rice + egg roll

first i want to say i grew up here and this review is based upon my overall experience. the food is good but it's never really been more than average. there's a lot of spots within 15 minutes of each other and i'd look around first. if all else fails i would still get food here. but i'd say it's pretty in the middle of the pack

Tomato Egg Drop

The best Chinese food in the Great Neck area . Food is flavorful and not sitting in tons of oil . Fast delivery .owners are very helpful and work with you if you want a healthy dish.

Golden Garden a typical American Chinese food restaurant located at the center of Middle Neck Road in Great Neck. It's everything you expect from this type of restaurant. The prices are excellent, about $7.35 for a lunch special and add about 3 bucks more for a dinner sized portion. They have delivery available through their own website. The website also offers an option to pay by credit card and a tipping option. There's also a $1 delivery charge. I tried the pork egg foo young, beef and broccoli, and chicken wings and fries lunch specials. The egg foo young came with a teriyaki-like sauce. I ate the egg foo young without it and it just as good. The egg was well cooked with plenty of roast pork inside. The beef and broccoli had giant pieces of broccoli flowers and the sauce was very standard. The chicken wings were fried with a curry tasting powder, which I really liked. The fried arrived hot, not sweaty, which a compliment to their fast delivery driver. Golden Garden is a nice place to order from if you live nearby, ensuring fast delivery and good quality food. I would order again from here in a pinch, when I need some fast food.

great food excellent service great people very friendly very clean place golden garden the best

I can't believe that after almost 15 years in Great Neck and after over 120 Yelp reviews, I forgot to write one for my favorite Chinese take out spot! I've been ordering from Golden Garden for the past [probably] 12 or 13 years. I've been by their side as they've gone through new ownership and can still say that this is the best Chinese take out in town. It's hard to find a spot like this that's consistent and just as good each time you order, but I'd say Golden Garden is consistent 87% of the time. If you order during "off" times (like just before the dinner rush), I guarantee your food will be amazing. During dinner, it'll still be good but I can't guarantee it. My go-to's: Steamed Pork Dumplings- SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. I live in Manhattan now and can't find ones that compare. The dough is so thick and soft, the meat has just the right amount of salt, and the garlic sauce it's served with is bangin'! Hot and Sour Soup- Always filling, always good. ANY dish in garlic sauce- Whether its broccoli, chicken, shrimp, whatever. If you happen to order and it's not up to par, dump some soy sauce in it (I've learned through trial and error that's the best way to make it like Goldilocks likes her porridge..."just right"). Chinese Donuts- Basically zeppoles, and you can never go wrong with fried goodies. They're usually really fast whether you order for pickup or delivery, the prices are your standard Chinese take out prices, and the portions are massive.

This spot is a great place for good food at an amazing value. I got their lunch specials - general two's chicken with pork fried rice and a beef chow fun with two hot and sour soups. All these dishes have that classic Chinese takeout flavor. The chicken was very saucy and tasty. The beef chow fun was also really flavorful with a nice aroma. The pork fried rice wasn't too exciting but still decent. The hot and sour soup had a good balance between hot and sour with nice chunks of muchrooms in it. Overall this order was only $15 and the portions were super BIG. They also are taking COVID-19 very seriously and is very safe with transactions with customers. Would definitely come back again!

Food was okays the wings tasted fine but the fried rice could've used a bit more flavor and a little softer. Sometimes it's hard to have a quick meal and this place did the job. Next time would like to try their chicken and broccoli with white rice..

My favorite Great Neck Americanized-Chinese restaurant is back open for business after the covid-19 shutdown! On 5/27/2020, I got their general Tso's chicken combo with pork fried rice and Diet Coke, excellent as usual! Top notch for Americanized-Chinese food. I called in my order and then when I got there, they did a safe through-the-window pay and pickup process. Highly recommend! (Again, for Americanized-Chinese. In its category this place is 5 stars.)

Chicken wings were not bad. Chicken broccoli was average, big cuts of meat that tasted over cooked.

Was disappointed by the General Tsao's Chicken ... the breading to chicken ratio felt like 70% breading 30% chicken.

They are attentive and courteous, even when they are super busy. They expanded their menu since they renovated the interior. I still stick for the classic Greek fare like chicken souvlaki and gyros. Their French fries are soo good! Their breakfast omelet with home fries are also so good. My friend said Louie's eggs Benedict is the best and therefore she never orders it anywhere else. Highly highly recommend! Owned by a lovely family!

Omelet & Home Fries desperately needed seasoning on all levels. Chicken and Lemon Rice Soup was adequately flavored with a nice pucker but the Olive Oil used was flowery and overpowered the delicacy of this soup. The Grilled Chicken Salad (lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes) on it's own was DELISH. The Caesar dressing that was different but edible, a little on the sweet and thin side. Thankfully, had some Homemade Caesar at home to compensate. Also, had a TEC (Turkey, freshly sliced off the bone, Egg (scrambled), and Cheese (Cheddar) on a large, pillowy roll. Enjoyable. Service...1 person put a SOUR taste in our mouths. Was immediately greeted by everyone, except the older lady who was supposed to take our order. We LITERALLY stood in front of the register for almost 10 minutes, while she greeted and helped EVERYONE around, on the side & behind us. An older jovial man finally greeted us and was apologetic and swift. If it wasn't for the long morning and afternoon we had, we would've taken our money elsewhere! It stayed busy and packed so get there early. They do try to be efficient when seating. Overall, we could give them another opportunity to see if the "selective service" by that 1 team member was a one-off! Street parking.

It definitely lived up to our memories, we ended up coming back twice in one week! Between our visits, we ordered the Dweji-Gomtang with extra pork, the Layoo Dweji-Gomtang with extra pork (spicy version), Kimchi Mandoo, Gabrisal Soyuk (pork collar meat), and the So-Bbol Gomtang (beef cheek, brisket, and tripe). Everything was delicious, but the standout for us was the pork collar meat. It was incredibly tender, flavorful, and an absolute must-order. The portions are just the right size, and the restaurant has a fast-casual feel, making it perfect for a quick meal without sacrificing quality. Our kids especially loved the original Dweji-Gomtang. After trying both versions, I personally prefer the original pork soup over the spicy Layoo version, although both were excellent. The complimentary kimchi deserves a special mention - it was fresh, flavorful, and the perfect accompaniment to the soups. The Kimchi Mandoo also had a nice spicy kick while still being packed with flavor. We noticed a lot of the guests were ordering the Lard Donkatsu, so that's definitely on our list for our next visit. Safe to say we'll be back again and again!

The location at Bayside opened about a year ago and we heard they expanded their menu a bit. Saw a beef soup option which sounded perfect for a rainy weekend. Like the pork, the beef was melt in your mouth tender. The beef consume was very light but full bodied. It may taste blander at the start, but it gets better with each sip. There were different cuts of beef (brisket, cheek, tripe) and can say I enjoy the beef soup over the pork option. We ordered a side of shrimp katsu which was so crispy and I was surprised to see whole shrimps! Their pork donkatsu was thick and also delightfully crispy with a side of pork soup and the right amount of banchan. I would come to this location again.
