I've been here twice for lunch now and both times have been good experiences. The biggest pros for me - super fast, order is ready within 10 minutes - food is hot as heck. From the kitchen sounds, you know it's made to order Personally, I like their salt and pepper fish. I thought it was a generous portion, fried perfectly, and not overly salty. My go-to at most Chinese restaurants, including here now, is the pan-fried chow mein. Love that they don't blast it with so much sauce that you can actually enjoy the crispy noodles. I truly hate to write this review but the restaurant and its customers need to know. I ordered beef with asparagus (al carte) and a tropical tea drink with jelly boba. I ate and drank it all at the restaurant table. The sauce made it taste delicious. The Restraunt storefront seating area was maintained very clean. The unfortunate part is the food gave me a wretched food poisoning. Within 2 -3 hours I had abdominal cramping and everything came out in liquid form with a vengeance. My intestines have been inflamed and extremely sore for the past 3 days. I'm highly concerned enough so that I cannot chance going back to order food or drink from them for fear this will happen again. I'm a younger senior person and hoping it did not damage my intestinal lining acutely. All I can ask at this point is for this restaurant to Do better with your food quality and kitchen staff's hygiene. This is unexpected but more so inexcusable! I'm very disappointed because I had eaten there once before ordering the honey walnut shrimp and it was very good. I did not get food poisoning that day. We chose this place to eat our Christmas dinner. We ate there once before Christmas just to be certain we wanted to eat there. We order fried rice, chow mein, orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and sesame chicken. We had the noodles and rice with bbq pork in it and we all enjoyed it very much. Enough that we will be returning for these two things alone. The sweet and sour chicken was a big hit. Everyone loved it. My 18-year-old ate most of it on his own. Unfortunately the other two dishes tasted alike and were really heavy on the soy sauce in their sauces. We think next time we will be trying something else. The service was excellent. Despite being busy she remembered to check on us frequently and brought my son new sodas. This is a little storefront with just about 8 tables. We ordered Doordash and chose Golden Garden as it recently replaced a previous Chinese restaurant that was there for some time. When I arrived to pick it up it took maybe 5 minutes by then. We had a guest over, my wife's coworker. She chose the sesame chicken (Americanized dish) and we chose beef with asparagus, salt and pepper fish and veggie egg rolls (bogo deal on these). The beef was of good quality and tasted better than others we tried elsewhere. The egg rolls were just ok. The salt and pepper fish was cooked to perfection and was soft and tender. The menu prices are decent to high. Recently it seems pricing for similar restaurants are just getting too greedy and not considering the economic state of today. Anyways, we need to try it again to make it our go-to for Chinese nearby. Recently many of Natomas Chinese spots have closed or gone downhill in food and or price ratings. Came here on a Wednesday night to try out the new Chinese place in town! :) -Service was prompt, polite, and attentive. -Tables and restaurant was clean and inviting -Food was overall good! What I recommend: -Hot and sour soup - vegetarian (rare find) and some of the best we've ever had! -Egg rolls (fried deliciousness, also vegetarian) -Milk tea with jelly - yum! I was super excited to try Golden garden. They are new Chinese food spot in the north Natomas area. I will say that the mother and daughter duo running the restaurant are super friendly and nice, that makes doing business with them certainly a huge plus. Since it was just the two of us, we decided to grab food to go and have dinner and a movie night. When I called the order and I was told that they are still offering their soft opening special at 20% off the total order. When I picked the food up, I was told it's only 10% off the total order. They were definitely gracious and allowed us to order the combo at the by 5 PM special cost. We ordered the sesame balls as a pseudo appetizer. They are pricey for what they are, but I do appreciate the fact that they are very light and survived the drive. We definitely have gotten them to go from other places and by the time we get to our destination, they usually get to be a bit hard and chewy. I would consider getting them again, except the price point is extremely high. We greatly appreciate the fact that they allow us to order the combos because it also gave us an opportunity to upgrade the rice to the fried rice which we did. The portions are extremely generous. I think our joint commentary about both combos is that they both seem to be missing that extra depth of flavor. They both fell short, and I'm hoping it's just the soft opening jitters and that it will certainly straighten itself out. The Mongolian beef combo:, we were pleasantly surprised to see that it was essentially stir fried beef, and it wasn't fried, or deep-fried for that matter. We intentionally asked for a little to know, onions or green peppers. So again the portion was generous. It's just missing that depth the flavor to give it that tastiness that I really wanted. The fried rice was also a generous portion, but definitely was missing flavor, and the peas still tasted frozen to me. The sesame chicken combo: the chicken was definitely tender just like the meat was in the Mongolian beef, but again same chief commentary where the whole combo locked flavor, and yet the sesame chicken actually tasted like soy sauce, chicken. It was missing that sesame flavor and tasted like they thickened some soy sauce and poured it over the chicken. They're still operating with the 10% discount and they're just rolling into their third week of a soft opening so I don't know how much longer it will continue. They are located in the Bel-Air shopping center, which has horrible parking, but it's definitely doable. Just be patient. The inside seating is pretty sparse and you definitely condign and but when we were there, despite getting our order to go, no one was dining in. Stopped by Golden Garden in Natomas and had a good experience overall. The Kung Pao Chicken was flavorful and well balanced, with tender chicken and just the right amount of heat. It was definitely one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the Honey Walnut Shrimp. While the shrimp itself was cooked well, the glaze was a bit heavy and overly sweet for my taste, which took away from the crispiness I usually look for in this dish. The real standout, surprisingly, was the sesame balls. Crispy on the outside, soft and chewy inside, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Easily some of the best sesame balls I've had and an absolute must-try here. Portions were generous, the food came out hot and fresh, and the service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant is clean and comfortable, making it a solid choice for a casual meal. Golden Garden delivers dependable Chinese food with a few dishes that really shine. We were in the area and saw they had a soft opening so we gave it a try. The staff at the front counter was nice and seated us immediately when we got in. We looked at the menu and there was a wide selection. We got Thai tea, chicken chow fun, salt and pepper chicken, and honey Walnut shrimp. I would say all the food came out piping hot and fresh. Everything was quite delicious. The only thing I would say is that the chow fun was extremely bland. It did not have any flavor to it even though it was freshly made. The honey nut shrimps were delicious. The shrimps were big and tasty. The Thai tea was freshly made and quite good. If you are in the area, come try thus place out. I do not like leaving 1 star reviews but I ate generals chicken & chicken chow mein and my girlfriend ordered the honey walnut shrimp. We ate our own separate meals and now we are both now suffering our third day of food poisoning. I couldn't decide between the Sesame chicken and the orange chicken. I asked people who seemed to throw all the time with they preferred and everybody said that they really preferred the orange chicken. The orange chicken came on the combo before 5 PM with steam rice for 1299. There was a very large survey more than I could possibly eat. I did appreciate the fact that the chicken was tender and white meat and the orange chicken was served with real slices of oranges. However, I did not care for the overly vinegar salty taste of the sauce. There seemed to be several regulars coming in and getting to go as they already knew what they wanted to order. Take this review for what it is, just my opinion, and chinese food is a preference- "GOOD" is going to be subjective for most people depending on your palate. For me though? I thought this was excellent! The salt and pepper chicken was sooooo good! Crispy, tasty, little spicy but not tooooo spicy- perfect ration of chicken to onion/pepper. The fried rice had FLAVOR!! Each dish had it's own flavor profile which was a nice change. Will definitely be back to try other dishes and its a 45 minute drive for me! read more

This is located in the Bel Air shopping center. New ownership. We ordered to-go last week and then again last night. First trip I ordered the beef chow fun, no bean sprouts, and an order of salt n pepper chicken wings. Food was better than previous owners although they did not remove the bean sprouts. They offered to remake it but hubs didn't want to be wasteful and he chose to pick it out. Wings were better than expected and large, not the tiny party wings. They were cooked perfectly. Then last night we got a double order based on last experience and they were WAY overcooked and dark. The crust didn't have the texture it did last time and was smooth. Maybe the oil needed changing? Disappointed. Prices are comparable to other Chinese restaurants. Most of it is family style except you can get a rice bowl with one protein. Wish they had a combo option of more than one entree because if you are eating alone, you could spend a fortune just trying to get a few items at avg $18 per pop. We will try them again for some different items. Its convenient place near home and it is a family business that I always like to support. read more

I ordered lunch from here today, called it in for pick up, Mongolian beef (not spicy) over rice, upon arrival it was ready. Overall it was good. The restaurant has a few tables, probably just enough for a quick and quaint meal-nothing fancy. Pricing is a tad bit higher than what I use to know Chinese food would cost but with prices these days completely understandable. Not many good authentic restaurants remaining in business. I would definitely try a few more dishes to see if they are descent-I'm on a hunt for traditional Chinese food. Definitely a step above the typical Panda Express meal. I order spicy Chinese food at every Chinese restaurant I go to. None are spicy. This was not only steaming hot when it was brought to the table but it was spicy enough for me to consume tea and water and even apple juice to go along with it. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do eat vegetarian dishes. I don't eat much beef these days and honestly, tofu is great in a flavorful stir-fry. So I wanted to order the Sichuan beef lunch plate, but substitute tofu for the beef. I mean, they offer the same thing as an entree and around of beef is at record prices, while a pound of tofu is a couple of dollars retail. The answer to my request? A flat "no. You have to get the entree" which is naturally more expensive than the combo plate. So I said fine, and then the cashier wanted me to buy the other stuff from the combo separately! I guess she thought I looked like a spineless sucker who would let her rack up the charges. I gave her the same flat no that she gave me and she looked unhappy. Seriously, the Sichuan tofu was excellent and this should be a review raving about it and how I can't wait to go back, but no, they had to try to screw me around and try to squeeze me for more money which makes me not want to go back. I first tried this restaurant out during their "soft grand opening" period. I ordered curry beef over rice, it was pretty good, with a homemade taste which is refreshing. The beef texture was great. Usually, when you eat out at Chinese restaurants, the beef is usually poor quality, but soaked in baking soda to hide the poor quality, also giving it a soapy taste. I've been back since trying a variety of American Chinese dishes, and the quality is consistent. Not the greatest Chinese food by any means, but great for what it is. The price is good as well. The owners/operators are very friendly. The inside is pretty pedestrian, no frills, but on par with a fast service Chinese restaurant. Solid pick for Chinese food in N. Natomas area. read more

We stumbled onto Golden Garden. Our intention was to visit another restaurant and when we arrived at the other restaurant, the representative informed us that due to staffing shortage, they were only offering take out. I went onto Yelp, and found Golden Garden, which offered reservations 30 minutes later through the Yelp app. When we arrived, we were confused about the reservation requirement as they were not full. The representative that assisted us did see our Yelp entry and said she would be researching her Yelp account to make any necessary adjustments (they only recently opened). Golden Garden is small, clean and all windows on one wall that look out to the parking lot of a grocery store strip mall. There were only 3 of us so we had no concerns about seating (and we had a reservation just the same). The menu is easy to read and includes a broad selection of Asian cuisine. The suggestions made by our waiter were spot on. As usual, we over ordered (we find this cuisine tastes good when reheated in the microwave days later). The flavors were bright and fresh, the soup option was unique and delicious, the cooked vegetables still snapped when I bit into them (one of the things I like from Wok cooking), and we were totally in the mood for family style (abundance) and Golden Garden delivered. I suspect as people learn about this place, it will become more difficult to get seating, so I will keep a mental note for my next visit.
