Went in hoping for a solid Thai meal and left wondering how this place has the word "Thai" in the name. Everything tasted flat and uninspired. The dishes were bland across the board, like someone was afraid to use salt, spice, or any kind of seasoning at all. On top of that, multiple items were overcooked to the point where the texture was just off. Portions didn't save it, service didn't save it, nothing really did. The only thing even remotely decent was the sticky rice--and honestly, that's doing a lot of heavy lifting for a very weak meal. I'm so sad because I'm a regular customer here. Probably come 2-4 times a month, so I recommended this place to my coworker. She ordered shrimp pad see-ew and I ordered pork thai fried rice. I came to pick up this order on my break. I am only given 30 minutes. It's a 10-12 min from my job so I go pick up my food and then come back and basically break is over. I understand it might have been my fault because I didn't check the order but they never get it wrong.. When I got to work we opened our orders and hers had pork and mine had shrimp. (She does not eat pork btw) So I called them to see what they could do to help us and they said to "leave it in the fridge and then bring it back for us to fix it." What happened to store credit? I'm in no way trying to scam. If anything I even left a small tip. Our break is over and now we don't have a meal to eat because "leave it in the fridge?" That's my only complain. Found myself here meeting up with my cousin for dinner. This place can easily get missed because there's not much signage from the street and it's in a shopping center that has a lot of other restaurant businesses. The reviews are legit, this spot serves up some tasty, authentic Thai dishes. Peep my foodie pic, the curry is thick not watered down like other establishments. The rice is cooked to perfection, coming from a Filipina that was raised on eating rice! *wink. There wasn't an item that we ordered that wasn't delicious. Come check this place out. read more

For this visit, we had satay chicken for appetizers which was really good. The chicken was tender and the peanut sauce complimented it well. For our main dish, we opted for their lunch menu. I had the combo Thai orange chicken and egg fried rice. I liked the egg fried rice but I can't say the same for the orange chicken. Apparently, it's just sliced chicken (which by the way was tiny) and just sweet sauce. My husband had the red curry medium spice with white rice. He enjoyed it. For drinks, we had the Thai iced tea. Thee best panang curry in Sac! My new brow bar is next to Thai Spoon which was already on my Yelp "to try" list. Boy did I score big! Panang curry (with chicken) is my absolute favorite Thai curry and I have to admit, we are fortunate in Sacramento to have some really good Panang curry options. But Thai Spoon is best in class. The first time I tried it, it was an instant love affair. Tiffany, the lovely, sweet hostess must never take a day off, as she's always working when I stop in (with a smile, I might add). Chef Mu, God bless you and thank you for always customizing my curry. I don't like carrots and order Panang with bell peppers, broccoli, green beans and eggplant. Taste, texture and temperature are my three gold seals...Thai Spoon nails all three each time. My last trip hubby was in town and he is not a curry person. I asked him just to taste it and Mr. rarely raves about anything couldn't stop saying how good the panang curry was. I ordered a spring roll and chicken drunken noodle with no bell pepper no bean sprout and no bamboo (still had plenty of veggies). I requested my food be spicy, LIKE SPICY! Man did they deliver, BUT.. their dish is what we call "ped lah lah" or just spicy with no flavor. I couldn't eat anymore because i couldn't taste anything but spice . It had no flavor to the food. Now i cant base my assumptions off of one visit, but us southeast asians like flavor and i know when there isn't flavor if the fat noodle is still white all around or stuck together. I asked for more stir fry sauce and took my food to go stating that i couldn't taste much flavor. they kindly gave me a container of their stir fry sauce. When i came home and stir fried with their sauce (and a dash of sugar to keep it from being salty) it was DELICIOUS. That changed my 3 stars rating to a 4 (with added steps). If you are picky about your Asian food id be cautious as natomas prices might leave you disappointed because the dishes cater to a more Americanized palette. An unassuming Thai restaurant that serves delicious food. I cannot stress how good their drunken noodles and fried tofu are. Would also highly recommend their coconut ice cream that is so rich in flavor. Their fried bananas though are on the more expensive side and we didn't like the way they were fried. Their Tom Kha soup is well worth it and a small one is enough to satisfy 3 people. Their Pad Thai is a little on the sweeter side and watch out for spice. While all "spicy" items are marked with a double asterisk, there are varying levels, so make sure to ask before ordering, especially their Som Tum salad. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, providing lots of information. The restaurant layout is perfect for larger groups (6+). I've never had Thai food and this place was recommended to me so today I paid them a visit for lunch. The ambiance was decent, clean and quaint but the customer service was superb and welcoming. For appetizers, I tried the Thai dumplings and they were delicious. I kept it simple for my meal, and ordered Thai shrimp fried rice. (I was too hungry and scared to try anything too foreign to taste buds.) The portions were large and I needed a to go bag. To drink I tried the Thai tea but I wasn't a fan of it. This review is overdue. I visited Thai Spoon on Wednesday, 8/30/23, during lunchtime. I decided to order both the Shrimp Fresh Roll with Peanut Sauce and the Chicken Drunken Noodle. Both food items were truly tasty and extremely generous in portions. I had some leftovers to take home. The service was attentive and wonderful. The ambiance of the restaurant was beautiful as well. Absolutely, hands down the worst Thai food restaurant in Sacramento. I really do not understand how this place has such high ratings. The pad Thai was waaaaaay too sweet in a corn syrup kind of sweet and it was DRENCHED in oil, swimming really. The Thai tea, I had to dump 1/4 of it out and replace it with water in order to make it drinkable. The mango sticky rice was insanely sweet but like sickly sweet and the mango was so green and so hard it was almost inedible and I'm sure it was cut with a knife that had recently cut an onion. I would not go back, I will not be recommending it and if I were a different kind of person I would be asking for my money back. read more

Customer service is horrible. I purchased a lunch special and they mixed the rice and dish together. By the time I got it home, my rice was completely saturated and not the way I like it. After driving all the way back to the restaurant to who you order remade, they made it wrong and then chastise me about making sure I ask over the phone which I did. Not to mention the dish that I ordered is very common and hard to mess up and there's taste terrible in comparison to some of the other Thai places nearby. The food was flavorless practically had no taste, the fish looked and tasted like it had been siting around for hours making it soggy and tough to chew. Visited this place as it was pretty close to where I was working and with good reviews I decided to try it. First and foremost I went during lunch and with only one other table in the restaurant being occupied, the service was not as good as I would expect. My guest and I sat down, handed menus and then I had to go look for the server/waitress after like 12 to 15 minutes because she never came back. When I went to go ask if I could order, she rolled her eyes while she was sipping on her drink and then finally came to get our order. Disappointed in this kind of service. Now for the food. Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday around 1pm since it was on our way to the Vacaville outlets. We were so blown away by how flavorful everything was! We got the small Tom Kha soup (which is a pretty big bowl for a small) with shrimp and the yellow curry with chicken + jasmine rice (rice is $2.25 extra but well worth it). The soup had plenty of shrimp in it and was piping hot. The yellow curry was the crowd favorite with a big depth of flavor. Will be back! read more

I can't really speak on the service or the atmosphere of the restaurant because I didn't dine it. I ordered to have lunch at work. I ordered dumplings were actually very good and gyoza. I also ordered a coconut curry, I wasn't a big fan of how watery it was but maybe that's how they make theirs.
