Our family of 4 got takeout from this local business, Mix Tempura, BBQ Short Ribs, Beef Teriyaki and Chicken Teriyaki. I thought the food was decent and nicely portioned. My hubby and daughters definitely enjoyed it! Since 2003 this family owned, Japanese restaurant has been serving Sacramento! We ate in the car, but they do offer indoor dining! I've been here before as you can see my previous review. I made the trip here again and since it was cold and rainy I wanted to try their hot udon. Sine that did not seem like it'd be enough, I also ordered potato croquettes. The udon broth and noodles were pretty good. They put various fish cakes as well but I think they don't use often for the fish taste was stronger than I usually know of fish cake so maybe old. The croquettes were fried to a nice crispy outside and soft on inside. My only complaint is they had the wrong sauce. One was like a teriyaki and the other was a mayo based one. I've always use tonkatsu sauce for my croquettes. I just ate them plain. read more

FIRE! Was gonna go to Bonchon for Korean food and that's what we had on our maps for directions. But I saw this place a few stores down and my husband and I went in to look at the menu. I noticed there were a bunch of Asian people seated and originally I was gonna walk out of here because I just wanted to look at the menu. But then I asked one of the family members of this place was bomb and they nodded like yeah you're not gonna regret it. And I didn't. I ordered the lunch special right before it ended. Teriyaki chicken. . And it came with a salad as well as fresh vegetables and I was surprised that it also came with fried spicy chicken. My husband got the beef, short rib, ribs, double meat and we ended up having so much food to take home. All for under the price point of what we would've paid at Bonchon. Their beverages are also really good. I got the lychee lemonade. And the customer service services on point. This is a favorite place. Have ordered different plates in the past and they were all satisfying. Favorite is the spicy chicken which is their version of the chicken karaage (fried chicken). Love the steamed vegetables. Service is good. There is enough seats inside but I see a lot of people pick up takeouts which I have done in the past as well. It's been about eight years since I last left a review for Teriyaki Time, and honestly the food is still just as good. It's healthy, not overly salty, easy to order, and they've got a good sized menu with plenty of options. Nothing complicated, just solid food you can count on. I usually get the chicken teriyaki bowl with less rice and extra veggies and it's always the best. The veggie tempura is perfect, and I especially love the mushroom tempura. Got the combo of spicy thai chicken and beef teriyaki with rice and veggies which was a perfect pair. The spicy thai chicken was spicy enough for my taste while the beef teriyaki was sweet which made them a complimentary pair. The service was fast and the crew were nice. I got the salmon plate , and opted for broccoli instead of the salad , I paid $3 extra for a scoop of broccoli, the broccoli was ice cold so I found it strange that it was on a plate of hot food , the food was good , but I wasn't to happy to receive a $3 scoop of ice cold vegetables. This is one of the staple restaurants in North Natomas. It's location is excellent as it is in the little playground-plaza area that has outdoor tables. On any given day of the week, there are always tons of families eating in this area. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. The wait time for the food was a little longer than I would have liked. However, the teriyaki bowl is a good size with lots of rice. I'd say the size is smaller than a bowl at Chipotle (if you are familiar with their sizes) and also less expensive than them. You will most likely spend less than $20 for a meal for two people. The price for a bowl was right on the money. I thought the extra teriyaki sauce was a little too salty, but still edible. Went there for a quick bite, thinking a Teriyaki bowl would be awesome. Well, I was wrong. A Chicken Teriyaki Bowl and a soda set me back about $18. There's a machine at the counter that can take your order, but there's also a guy in front of the machine taking orders, so that was sort of weird. The bowl was a bunch of lukewarm rice, some ice cold vegetables (I'm guessing they purposely put the vegetables in the fridge before putting them on the bowl. Either that, or they just gave me cold left-overs.) The chicken was DRY. DRY DRY DRY. The teriyaki sauce that accompanied it was good, but very small container was given to me, and that didn't make a dent on the dryness. My feeling after reading the reviews here is that they didn't like me and they gave me the most "we don't want to see your face back here" meal they could think of. I did see them greeting some customers who were obviously regulars with happy faces and the customer getting food they were happy with. Unfortunately that wasn't me. It's been over three years since my last review. Me and Teriyaki Time have been an item since they opened up their doors for business many moons ago. They have been a constant standby for my go to for teriyaki. Good ole basic neighborhood eatery serving up affordable and simply tasty Americanized teriyaki. The family and staff that runs the restaurant are the best. Sure staff has come and gone, but they all have been friendly and outgoing. Anyway onto the food. No frills, basic teriyaki. Simple and classic. The sauce has no HFCS nonsense. My faves are the salmon plate, sesame chicken plate, and beef short rib plate. The plates run $8-10. The bowls are cheaper than that. I order the protein with sauce on the side meaning they cook it without the brushing it with the sauce. Believe it or not, the salmon and short ribs still taste yummy without cooking with the sauce. The sesame chicken is panko coated and fried to a golden crisp while still keeping a tender, moist chicken meat. The fried potstickers aren't much to look at but are deceptively yummy. Actually at first glance they look burnt.. but aren't. The sauce they give out with it has a slight spicy kick... spicy without the heat. Kudos to the chefs. They only offer one rice option...white rice. The menu is simple and basic... it's not diverse nor innovative... no need. The serving sizes are hearty. The prices are not bad. Good price points. One of the cheaper non fast food dining options in the area. The place itself is basic and no frills. Folks don't come here for the ambiance, it's for the food. I gotta say the dining room could be kept a little cleaner. But I noticed the customers sure don't help them out in that regard. That darn delicious teriyaki sauce and their other dipping sauces sure makes a sweet sticky mess, especially with the kiddos and ok... messy adults. read more

This is a regular "go-to" for us! Lots of options and the food is always fresh, hot, and delicious. We order both via online and in person and the staff is always friendly, and making sure our order is correct. The dining space is open, clean and welcoming. We usually order the Teriyaki Beef Bowl and the Teriyaki Combo Plates. I usually mix it up, but my husband orders the Honey Spicy Chicken. The last time we went, I ordered my plate with Thai Chicken and Sesame Chicken which is breaded. The chicken is always good especially the Thai Chicken and they only offer white rice. The plates come with a salad and supposedly steamed veggies. I have only actually had steamed one time, they usually give you a weird slaw which I never eat. It would be nice if it were actual steamed veggies like advertised. They do offer steamed broccoli as one of their sides so I suggest ordering a side if you're hoping for steamed veggies. The Teriyaki Bowls come with a small amount of steamed broccoli though. I usually order a side of their pot stickers too. Overall, is it my favorite teriyaki place? Nah, but it satisfies our cravings. I wish they offered brown and fried rice, but their white rice is cooked well. They can be a bit slow too depending on the time of day and line so be prepared to possibly wait! I happened to be in this area and used to come to this spot alot before so decided to see if it was as good as I remembered but unfortunately it was not. The place was busy as it was dinner time on a weekday. The service was not the same as before and it took unusually long to make my food like they forgot about it. I only ordered spicy chicken and went with noodles instead of a normal rice plate. The noodles were over sauced and leaked everywhere and worst part was I found a hair in my side of rice.
