I hired Golden Hardwood to rehabilitate two levels of top-nailed oak floors in my recently purchased 1909 home. The prior owner, who bought the house in 1977, said he had never refinished the floors so you can imagine what shape they were in. There were deep gouges on the surface and the finish had almost completely worn off. There were also several areas of damage, including burn marks, water damage, and a few places where the prior owner had made amateurish modifications. Tony, along with his father and team, did a fantastic job restoring them to their original majesty. They meticulously reset every nail, patched the water damage, fixed the subfloor and stairs, and did a full resurface and refinish job -- all at a fair price. Moreover, Tony is a great communicator and kept me informed of each step in the process while seeking my input on key decisions. I am extremely pleased with the results. I seriously can't say enough good things about this place. I received 6 quotes from multiple hardwood floor companies and finally decided on this team because of price, schedule, and personality. Tony communicates constantly and Joe is old-school, making sure everything is done with respect and precision. Our 110 year old house had original Douglas fir floors under carpet that we wanted to expose. Turns out- once ripped up, there was linoleum asphalted (?!!) onto the hardwood. we of course paid a bit more for the unknown additional work (hey, that's renovation), but they gave us a fair price and we never felt taken advantage of. It took the team 3 days just to peel and sand to remove the tiles. It was awful. But they never gave up! Within 8 days, we had beautiful floors with a matte Swedish finish. Of course, it doesn't looks new - we didn't want it to! - but it looks gorgeously imperfect. Thrilled with the work! We plan on refinishing our oak floors on he stairs and main floor in 4 years and we will definitely be calling them again! read more

We are really disappointed in the way our floors turned out. On the first day, we checked in with the contractor to ensure they had no problem accessing our house and they informed us that they would not be showing up that day due to their sander being broken. Now, I think a better business practice would be to inform the client when you can't show up rather than the client project managing the contractor (issues come up but please inform us!). Once work commenced, it seemed rushed and sloppy. We have a ton of sanding lines throughout our floors. They did not do a stain test with us so that we could pick a stain. Rather, they just stained it whatever color they felt was appropriate. This was really disappointing and unusual in comparison to my other home remodeling experiences. Anyway, it was already done, so nothing we could really do at this point. They then slopped on some poly for the Swedish finish and there were a bunch of puddles. They were just going to leave them until we called them out on it. They "tried their best" to even the globs out but it's still not great. Finally, they did not remove any old filler between the planks nor sand off old glue. At the end of the day, the floors are usable but we will need to get them redone in a few year when we sell. We will go with another vendor. Note: it's telling that there is only one Yelp review and most photos are from the business owner. read more

Once we awarded the contract to him, he immediately got to work. Given we were looking at a strict time crunch to move in, Tony and his father Joe, worked their magic. The closet space in our bedroom was tricky to say the least with the closets fixed to the ceiling. Tony & co. managed to such a perfect job in there - it looks as though the space came with the hardwood flooring! The treads for stairs were also nicely done and finished. Our living room area had originally come with hardwood flooring and there was considerable water damage to one of the corners near a window. We got the flooring refinished and they look exactly like the new floors we installed in the other areas.
