Would give 6 stars if I could! My 100 year old farmhouse was going on the market and desperately needed its original fir floors refinished. They were in rough shape (see before pictures). I did the homeowner thing and got three bids. One company said they might not be able to salvage the floors, one gave me an exorbitant price (literally more than twice as much as I wound up paying). And then there was Ace of Hardwoods. Communicative, great workers, super reasonable pricing. You can really see the craftsmanship and attention to detail in the results. We just bought a house, and the upper floor was painted with lead paint. We wanted to get that flooring removed safely, and new hardwoods put in. We got three different quotes, and Ace of Hardwoods was by far the least expensive-- half of the most expensive quote! When we went with Ace of Hardwoods, we didn't at all feel like we were sacrificing quality to save some money. The flooring came out beautifully, with no lead paint dust, and a close match to our main floor hardwoods. Some of the detail work they did automatically was what other companies wanted to upcharge us for. There were a couple snafus, but nothing major and very reasonable given the size of the project. A flush wood vent was initially left out, but when we asked them to add it they did so within a couple days. Also, the initial measurements were off, so we ended up having to pay extra for more wood, but they gave us a good deal on that. Finally, the project went two days over the initial timeframe (which was two weeks). I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I'm compelled to write about the team that very recently did such a fantastic job installing my beautiful hardwood. We had been concerned about transitioning from red oak to Cumaru, that would be next to each other. Ashton and Eric removed the 42 year old carpet from my 3 bedrooms & stairway, down from my living room. We chose Brazilian teak, (Cumaru) prefinished wood. Our living room is 42 year old red oak & they completely sanded it down to bare wood and stained it close to the color of the Cumaru so the oak and Cumaru look great next to each other. The Cumaru was installed to perfection and the living room red oak is now a warm, rich color, with a satin finish. All my old metal heat vents were replaced with wood and finished to match the refinished floor. I've had my living room floors previously refinished twice before. No one ever put the effort into preparing the red oak so it looked like new flooring before applying the stain and finish. These young men have an amazing, unparalleled work ethic. We just had our floors refinished by Ace of Hardwoods and were over the top impressed with every aspect of our interaction with Ashton and his team. Ashton was so thorough in his assessment of our needs and even took thee time to put together sooner samples using left over flooring we had from our initial installation so he was confident in how mucH sanding the engineered hardwoods that we had could take and giving us several options for the color and sheen of the finish. He clearly communicated the steps in the process and what we could expect from a timeline perspective. We were scheduled to have the work done the second week of January and when we got to that week we're greeted with a big snow (big for the PNW anyway!) and that didn't slow Ashton down oneebit. He and his partner showed up every day at 8, worked hard all day and came back the next day to continue the work and stuck to his timeline as originally planned. His attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship was clear and never wavered (he was an absolute perfectionist and I loved it)!! Oh my goodness, where to begin, my journey witch Ashton began in December/January when my White Oak floors were installed and they were beautiful. Keep in mind that I was about 25% smack dab in the middle of a remodel. Okay, now fast forward to right before COVID-19 reared it's ugly head and my remodel is about 95% completed. I still didn't have my furniture in the media room or throughout the area, so pretty sparse. I noticed a scrape/gouge in one area of the floor, so reached out to the Contractor who hired Ashton. When they arrived, i pointed out what I considered was the issue but he didn't stop there, he decided to inspect the whole project from the kitchen, small dining area & media room. After looking at the area I deemed "marred", this young man literally got down on his stomach to inspect other affected areas. He determined that the entire floor needed to be re-sanded, basically, re-done. I know what you are probably thinking,"did he do a sub-par job to begin with?" The answer is HELL NO! Remember, I still had 75% more remodeling to complete, so regardless of the cause, he did everything right and it was then and is, stunningly beautiful!
