Can't believe I haven't reviewed golden harvest yet. This is by far my favorite breakfast spot in all of the eureka/fortuna/arcata region. Nothing - and I repeat NOTHING - can top the savory magic that is the POTATO CAKE. Divine is one word I would use to describe it; incredible, another suitable adjective. While others have vouched for the other items on the menu, I never deviate from my beloved potato cakes and I never shall. Their country potatoes have the absolute perfect seasoning - combine that with sour cream, cheese, and bacon (or tofu for the non meat eater) and you have a truly perfect breakfast. Pro tip: throw an egg on top of it. You won't regret it. If you like it spicy, add the Cajun seasoning. I always get the original potato cake, and only one because it's quite the serving. You can also customize it however you please with their harvest additions! TLDR: the potato cakes are heavenly and the only thing I'll buy here, although everything on the menu is fab. *small side information: I'm from out of town so I'm not from here* Let's begin. Well I came here with my boyfriends family who are native Eurekians. We got sat right away. From the beginning i noticed wow, why on earth is it so cold in here?! I noticed that the back door is open and i told a server if they can close that door it's freezing in here. I was already wearing a turtle neck with a jacket over it as well as long thick pants. the server told me they need to keep it open to let air in? Like, okaaayyy. I was miserable sitting there THE WHOLE TIME. moving on.. i looked at the menu and i realized these prices are freaking outrageous. $15 for a plate of food? jesus.. What a robbery. Ya'll need to lower the prices on your food! when the food came i was eating it and i realized one of my sides i had was gravy and oh lord why did they taste so plain? like, they also were like gelatiny?! someone needed to throw some salt up in that thing! Also, my food got cold instantly because the door was wide open making the restaurant practically eating in a freezer. ugh. I hope to never come here again. A good place for breakfast. Though covid restrictions are lifting, we opted for the outdoor seating area. Fresh air is always great, although keep in mind here you're right next to 101, so your ears might wish for those inside tables anyways. We had an omelet and an order of the potato cakes. Our omelet, which had bacon and avocado, was very good. There was ample bacon, which made for a heavier dish than we expected. I don't think bacon lovers would be disappointed with the serving received. Not the kind for much greasy stuff ourselves, I think next time we'd just go all-veggie. The potato cakes were liked by one of us, not liked by the other. The main complaint was with regards to the seasoning. It was not the typical potato pancake type seasoning. More of a red southwest spicing type thing. And it should be said these weren't your typical potato cakes either, but country type potatoes with things mixed in. Loaded Country Potatoes might be a good way to describe it. Still, this was one of our better breakfasts during our stay in Eureka. On a return visit, we'd likely want to switch over to hash browns or plain pancakes for the side. read more

We traveled from out of town for a small weekend get away to see the Redwoods. Our initial plan for the morning was to cook at our Airbnb, which unfortunately was infested with ants (insert sad face). So of course I pulled out my yelp app and began to search for a place that had vegetarian and some vegan options. This is when I stumbled across this little gem. I was excited to see a menu that had a little something for everyone. I ordered the breakfast burrito without the sour cream and cheese. At first I was a little scared to have breakfast burrito without the beloved cheese but once I tasted it, I had nothing to worry about. It was filled with flavorful potatoes and ripe avocados. The tortilla was also handmade. Needless to say I killed my burrito and wished I would have added some hash browns on the side. They also offer almond milk for your coffee. The food totally sucked, my chicken fried steak was not a NY steak, it was mushy and taste of raw flour, my eggs I believe were made 3 days ago, the gravy was so strange it had no flavor at all! The food is always good. I have had bad service the past few times I've gone. The main waitress was absolutely rude she acts like the is mighty and boy does she seem like she's on a high horse. Acts like she is too good to listen to you as she walks by. The worse part of our visit was the beard hairs yes plural hairs that was in my fathers eggs Benedict. I know it is a beard hair because I look into the kitchen and saw a chef with a large beard not wearing a beard net. Nobody in there was wearing a net and all of them had long hair with beards. Which is directly against serv safe standards. I would suggest to not go here. Only redeeming factor is the taste of the food but after the hairs in my fathers food I completely lost my appetite.
