My office has moved to the Old Town area of Eureka and I have been exploring food spots to try and this trip was disappointing. Walked in to the counter and my coworker was informed the menu was limited. So I was like let's do it anyway, I like to see what peps work with. I ordered the soup special: Beef Stew. I read online it came with homemade Focaccia bread. Nope, soup was ok, had a chili feel to it but was decent. My coworker got a BLT and told to get a bag of chips. He supposed to get homemade banana chips, nope. Not sure if I'll go back, service was ok. read more

I love going to The Grind Cafe whenever possible!! Everyone is always so friendly and kind, and the food is amazing! The atmosphere is also very warm and inviting, and it's nice to sit down for a spell, no matter the weather. :) I have gone by myself, with friends, and with out-of-town family, and no matter who i go with, everyone can agree that it is a truly awesome establishment! (and, in my opinion, the SINGLE best place to get actual good quality lox!) If you have the time to stop by the next time you're in Eureka, I would HIGHLY recommend them!! read more

New ownership, new soup menu, same great coffee, same location, all new vibes! I adore the folks running The Grind these days, and the new soup options are TASTY OMG. Today's special was potato, rice, veggies, and it sooounds kinda boring, but it was NOT boring! Decent level of spice, but nowhere near to the extent your nostrils are on fire and your eyes are melting out of your head. The flavor wasn't basic and I LOVED it. There's tables outside, in the courtyard that's in a canopy of trees, away from the basic sidewalk foot traffic. Too much curry! Most of the menu has curry in it. I ordered an egg sandwich today, which didn't say it had curry in the eggs...the menu said eggs, cheese and plantains. Got back to the office and there is strong curry in the eggs. Had I known this, I would not have ordered it. I also ordered a potato onion soup a month or so ago, and expected it to be potatoes and onion. Nope! It was curry too! I didn't taste anything but VERY spicy curry and ended up throwing it away and stopping to get a burger instead. I'm really disappointed because the owner a few years ago made very good, regular American food. Now they even put curry aioli on the sandwiches! The menu is much smaller than it used to be and not your typical coffee shop food. I honestly can't say anything I've had since the most recent owner took over that is very tasty. And one item I was about to order I was told would take 30 minutes to make! Who wants to waste half their lunch hour waiting for sub par food? I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this place. It's close to my work and I like supporting local when I can, but other than the girl who works there being super sweet, I really can't recommend it. I'm really bummed! read more

Busy street right outside and pretty tight inside. A good amount of seating and a very nice size menu so you can see everything clearly. I ordered a white mocha with two shots and a drip coffee. The drip coffee is average to say the best and the white mocha is strong! SweeT and strong. read more

Came in for a sandwich, have never tried this little place before. The inside is very cute but the food and service is sub par.

It's like that show from the 80's minus the alcohol; and instead of Sam and Diane you've got a mom and son team who always brighten my day.

This place is definitely hidden. If you are not like irking for it then you can will miss it. It's a small quiet space, atleast when I was here there was no one else. I think the prices are a little high but it's nice. Worth checking out! read more

So, I just went down to this little café because a friend of mine has fallen in love with their focaccia bread, and I wanted to see what the fuss was about. The two people working behind the counter were super friendly, but - more importantly - I'm pretty sure that I want to marry both the sandwich and the soup that I bought from this place, so that we can live happily ever after together. The soup was absolutely delightful. I don't even remember what it was called, unfortunately, but it had olive chunks and pesto and lentils and happiness in it. The chicken walnut sandwich was everything a sandwich should be - textured, moist, and flavorful. The focaccia bread was so, SO soft. I hope I dream about my lunch tonight, so I can re-live the experience. 10/10 - would eat again. read more
