This is an update from my last review. I LOVE milk tea with tapioca! But this location is 25 minutes away from our house (we stop when driving back from Houston), and it takes them 20-30 minutes to make it! Places in Houston have it ready in about 5 minutes. So I bought tapioca. First try making milk tea with tapioca - less than 10 minutes. Please explain why it takes so long at this place! read more

Went to eat at Golden Imperial this evening. Placed my order and added fried rolls. First, Raymond entered the incorrect order number for the pager for our order. When we received our order, my husband was told we didn't order fried rolls. I pulled out my receipt and saw where Raymond charged me for egg rolls instead of the fried rolls. I requested the fried rolls or refund my money for the incorrect item. Raymond refused to do either and stated he was the manager. He stated there was nothing he could do. They use to have a buffet. Then they went to menu orders at dinner. They had a tea room for awhile too. Now you go to a counter and order and pick up food when number is called. So this buffet is very small compared to what I'm used to. Their selection is very small. Not a lot of seafood. I'm used to paying the same price $12 for the ones that have so much shrimp, crabs, crab legs and so much more. Their food was good though. I only had one plate. I tried a little bit of everything. The sushi was pretty good actually. The restaurant was clean and the staff were very friendly. They were constantly coming to the table to get us water or take the plates. Very attentive. read more

Good food. The variety doesn't ever change, they prepare the same things everyday. They also offer sushi which isn't too bad for buffet sushi. I don't really care for the desserts, but that's good because I don't need them anyway. The service is pretty good. read more

Bring back the buffet. This place now feels like a low end burger place. The restaurant is too nice for that. The food is also not great but at least with the buffet you can try different subpar items. Everything was pretty tasteless but I would still prefer differing items. It's Golden Pagoda from Bellville on steroids. Life has peaked. I will never know another Chinese buffet again. I should probably only go twice a year simply because I'm going to die if I eat that much food again. Do it, just do it. There's different things most "common" Chinese buffets don't have. First chinese buffet in brenham. The food is not bad but some are too saucy and cold. So maybe the best time to go is when they open. They had a huge tray of floating general tso chicken. Never seen that before. The taste is ok. I actually went there for that but I must say it wasn't good. BUT the sushi wasnt bad! My favorite actually was the tempura shrimp and salt and pepper shrimp. Even the calamari wasnt bad. The fried stuff are okay and the other stuff are questionable. Didn't try the soup. I was actually expecting more since its the weekend but they dont really have much to choose from. Wish they just made the food area smaller and close to each other. Walking around for spread out food is nuts. Dessert for example its a whole counter and they only have 3 plates of dessert there and both taste old. They also have floating wings. Really don't get why they saturate everything with sauce. Unless they're all left over from the night before.... I hope not. My fave here salt and pepper shrimp, sweet and sour chicken, tempura shrimp, and various sushi. Ambience is nice for bdays, hang outs, good for fam. Staff is really nice and very attentive. Only thing keeping this from a 4 or 5 star rating is selection. Service= great, cleanliness= awesome, food= great and price is very reasonable. What they have on the bar is very good. There was no buffet on a Saturday about 1:00 or 1:30. Actually there were no customers except for the people that went in right before us and they brought their dog which was not labeled as a service animal. The restaurant didn't seem to care so we turned around and left. So I don't have a review on the food but won't be going back. Right across the highway was a really good buffet. read more

Establishment is clean,beautiful, and the selection of foods is vast. Chinese and Japanese all with very good taste. The sushi bar is well stocked. Hot and sour soup, crab puffs, general, orange, spicy chicken, dumplings, sweet and sour, not very expensive. They don't have much of variety, a few of the serving trays were empty when we got there but from what I served myself the food was good. Not packed there was just two other families eating. We came from Houston and found this Chinese restaurant on Yelp. We always look for Chinese food, being Chinese with Chinese stomachs. We almost left after hearing there's no buffet on Friday night. The young waiter convinced us that the foods are well prepared. He is not pushy at all, so polite and sincere. The foods came prompt and very tasty, felt like home made. It's been a few weeks back when all this took place but I think it worth getting out in case someone has the same problem. To start off let me say I like the food it's a great place to eat Chinese. But the problem was that my wife (at night meal) was eating their soup found a wire in it. And all most swallowed it This ruined this meal for her. But we got thru it. I called over the waiter and told him and showed him the wire. His reaction was " not again ". The manager showed up later an apologize for the problem. Wonderful food! There was a huge variety to choose from, and the sushi bar alone was worth the trip! I've eaten here dozens of times and the food is good, but service hurts them. The last two times I've eaten here I called in my order for take out. Both times I didn't get all of my order. It's very small, the buffet is very close to the tables everyone sits at which is a little uncomfortable, and there isn't a big food selection. The waiters seem inexperienced and the buffet isn't kept filled well.On the other hand, it has a big parking lot, has a nice ambience, and the deserts are delicious. Honestly, you wouldn't think Golden Imperial is from Golden Pagoda, sadly. This place was new, a while back. Now it's old news and it will stay that way. Brenham already has a buffet of Asian cuisine but it's really not even on par with that one. The sushi is warm, and the Asian choices are quite limited. Fear not though, for some reason the most consumed food here is American, such as pizza, corn nuggets, fried chicken, and various other American delicacies.
