Curry goat lunch plate with spinach rice
Fallon L.

Love coming here; the food is always CONSISTENTLY good, and they always have a variety of traditional Jamaican favorites. Whenever I'm in the area, it's a must that I come here. I've tried pretty much everything: the curry chicken, curry goat, jerk chicken, beef patties, mac and cheese , vegetables, rice and peas, etc. Each time I visit they usually have a new item they've added to the menu such as spinach rice or different types of fresh juices. The cucumber gjnger and sorrel are so refreshing as well. I prefer coming to this location because their customer service is always warm and friendly. Plus the good tunes playing in the background adds to the taste of Jamaica. Definitely check them out, you won't be disappointed.

Bop! Bop! Bop! Wah gwaan, Jamaica?!! Golden Krust (GK) has entered the chat. This restaurant chain is known for Jamaican food staples like rice and peas and beef patties. I had to give GK a try myself. I selected rice and peas (w/ gravy) and a (mild) beef patty with cheese. Unfortunately, they were out of the chicken patties - I wanted that too. At first bite the flaky, soft beef-filled pastry was tasty and I can see why it is a favorite. The restaurant even has an "express patty" line, that should tell you how much of these they sell in there. My mouth watered at the smell of the rice and peas, and it did not disappoint. Covered in oxtail gravy it was delicious and filling. The restaurant is small and seating is limited, so keep that in mind if considering dining in. The restaurant is brightly lit and full of fliers and posters on the walls and glass window highlighting Jamaican events and culture, as well as the Jamaican flag hanging proudly in the window as a reminder of what and who they represent. I love that. With reggae music pumping through the speakers you can definitely feel the Carribean energy in the place. I would say, don't expect to receive a warm welcome or a smile when walking in the door, it may not happen. Just have your order ready in your head and be ready to say it. Side note: If visiting for the first time it may also be in your best interest to review their menu first to see what you'd like before stepping inside or walking up to the register to order... I did not get the feeling that they were all that excited to go through it with me. Lol, oh well. All in all for $10.78 I got my money's worth. For the portion size I'd say the price was not bad at all. It only gets more expensive if ordering something like their oxtails. I may consider going back again. Try it out if you're in an island mood! Enjoy and keep it Irie!

Meat pue (absolutely fabulous!)

First time here. I don't really eat Caribbean food, but since I was in Houston during the hurricane, this was one of the only places that opened up. I'm so glad i stopped in. I ordered the fried chicken plate with spinach rice, and a mild meat pie. Who can go wrong w/ chicken? Especially fresh chicken?? The spinach rice was good but a little spicy for me. Next time i'll try the pea rice. The fried plantain and steamed cabbage were amazing. The meat pie was the winner for me. It was so delicious. I've definitely would go back !! Thank you for opening up after the hurricane hit because there really wasn't anywhere to eat. These employees deserve a bonus!! The hotel lost power as well so they couldn't offer us anything to eat either so getting out to find something was the only option. That meat pue though!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! You have your try!!

Came here for a quick meal and was happily impressed! The staff was very welcoming and helpful with the questions I had. I was unfortunately in a hurry so I grabbed a fresh juice and a curry beef and jerk chicken patties. The juice was incredibly fresh and had a wonderful ginger flavor. The patties haf a great amount of filling and the spice levels were on point. Only tiny thing I would change is having the patties cooked a little longer. They could have been a little flakier if they cooked just a tad bit longer. That being said I look forward to going back!

Small curried goat meal

Fantastic service. Restaurant was super clean and organized. Food was mid but as expected. Jamaican food wasn't created to be fast food. Period. Rice and peas have a fast food taste. :( Curry goat was extremely spicy and lacked depth in flavor. Generous portion size.

I ordered chicken curry to-go. I ordered online and had to wait a little in store because there was only one person working the counter. But the wait wasn't too bad and she was nice. It was a lot of food! I had more than enough for another dinner. Golden Krust is a good place to have in your to-go rotation. Fyi- they're only doing to-go orders right now.

Mild Beef Patty

I ate on this entire meal two days straight! That's how much food you get here! It's delicious! The meat patty has a delicious filling - it was a little hard on the edges but that's okay. I know those are made in the morning and I ordered right before closing. The curry chicken was so good and tender. The rice and peas were amazing. The steamed vegetables, eh, needed more seasoning but mixed in with everything else, it was no biggie. I can't wait to try the oxtails!

Oxtails, rice, cabbage, and plantains
Joiya A.

Ooooooweeeee! So delicious! Finally stopped by here to try them out. I purchased a small plate (huge portions) with oxtail, rice (cant remember the exact name) cabbage, plantains, and a beef patty. It was all so flavorful. The beef patty was my favorite. The crust was so flaky and the temperature was jut right! The staff was super friendly and offered me samples of any and everything I wanted to try before I purchased. I will definitely come back here for a meal.

This place belongs to some friends we were stationed with in Heidelberg, Germany. I drove three hours today to try it.

The woman let me know ahead of time that the potato salad had a pink coloring due to the beets used in it; I'm glad she told me, atherwise the color would've taken my by surprise. I could barely taste the beets, but the relish and mayo were great combos. The rice was super fluffy, though the chicken was a bit bony and not as plentfiul as I am accustomed to when ordering from other Jamaican establishments.
