    2. Chicken Gyro 3. Combo Gyro Fries 5 Pieces Falafel
    Taryn M.

Pulled up to Gyro King around 9pm Saturday night and it was moderately busy. Heads up - this is a food truck and no outdoor seating areas. Ordered the Chicken Gyro, Combo Gyro, Fries, and a side of Falafel. The food took about 10 minutes and came out hot! Overall, it was a good meal. The Chicken Gyro was lacking a bit of meat but the Combo Gyro was loaded. Both were solid options, veggies were fresh and the sauces were excellent. Fries were standard and paired well with the sauces. The falafel was not my favorite - very oily. Good quality and portions - give it a try if you're nearby!

I saw some specs of hair inside the top of the box and thought nothing. Maybe it was ours or something stuck to box. But then saw this nasty pistachio in this. I'm disgusted by the hygiene here. Unsure if I'll come back. How does something like this even end in the food?? Cucumber was so bitter too.

I've been getting take out here for the past 5 years. The food is always excellent and I appreciate their location close to the medical center. I always like to order ahead of time but it's usually less than a 10 min late if I order onsite. The employees are always so nice. I like to get the combo (lamb & chicken) over rice with white & red sauce & sometimes an order of crinkle fries which are on the softer side (my fav style). I like how it comes with a side salad. I like to get extra side of white sauce for my fries. Parking usually isn't an issue since it is located in a Chevron gas station lot. The food truck looks like it got an upgraded look too!

Absolutely amazing. The best gyro I've ever had, very filling portions, and not greasy at all. The lamb is a must

The bread was almost too hard and chewy for me to eat. Found a small bone in my lamb gyro. A bit more lettuce would make it tastier.

Hi! How do I book indoor or outdoor reservations?

the 2424 old spanish trail location is a food truck. but you can find all their locations and reservation/catering info at houstongyroking dot com

When did the prices change? Today the guy said lamb over rice was $9.74 (cash) when for years it's been $8. I pointed to the menu that said $8 and asked him when it changed. He said 6mo ago. I've been within the last 6mo and paid $8...just curious.

I’m sorry we have changed our prices since we upgraded to a school bus! We do not compromise on quality and since the meat market has increased we have no choice but too . We hope you understand!

    Is it halal?

    says it on the truck

Does the white sauce come drizzled on the platter or on the side?

They drizzle it on the rice itself and they also give have extra white sauce in a small to go for 50 cents.

Before I arrived, I didn't realize they were located inside of L.A. Fitness so finding it was a little confusing. There's a parking garage where L.A. Fitness will validate your ticket so you don't have to pay. The parking garage also serves several other businesses so it may take you a little trial and error to find the entrance to L.A. Fitness. Part of the reason I stopped by is that I saw they have a Yelp Deal. After buying the voucher and trying to use it, I was told that the previous owner created the deal so they were unaware of it. Luckily, they were still willing to honor it. I'm not sure if they've taken the deal down, but if they haven't, here's your heads-up. Since the Yelp deal is for a good deal of money, I ended up ordering quite a bit. They have a combo deal where you can get a sandwich and a smoothie. I got four different smoothies and four sandwiches. For each smoothie, I added an add-in for an additional charge. That got me to the value I needed for the Yelp deal. Lunch for all week! They have a couple of tables if you'd like to eat there but it's more of a grab-and-go spot. The sandwiches are paninis and they were good and used healthy ingredients. They have a grilled cheese option, chicken pesto sandwich, etc. A lot of their sandwiches have spinach. You can easily make a comparable sandwich at home but you do have the convenience factor here, especially if you work out at the gym. The smoothies were also good but nothing to write home about. All-in-all, a convenient and solid addition to L.A. Fitness. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here if you're not a member of the gym, but if you are, I'd take advantage.

They closed the location at my LA fitness unfortunately, however, this is an amazing smoothie bar!!…read moreI did get a chance to visit this location and the service and smoothies were still up to par!! Keep up the good work you guys!!!

This review isn't so much about the taste of the bowl, as much as it is the presentation of the bowl, and the service in general. I went to SK in Kirby through their drive thru, the middle of last week and ordered the PB Swizzle only to receive a bowl that was poorly made and with a heaping mess of peanut butter on top - the bowl was handed to me without a bag, however, I did get a spoon. Service that day was lackluster. A couple of days later I went back again and ordered the same thing, letting them know about my last experience and how the bowl was served to me. This time a different young man was at the window, and he apologized for the poor service I received and ensured me he would resolve the matter by creating a great bowl with proper drizzle. He did just that, the bowl was perfectly made, no peanut butter mountain, he gave me the drizzle I wanted and the bowl was done right. He served it to me in a bag and wished me a blessed day which put SK back in good graces with me again. I wish I had asked for his name because he exemplified customer service to the max. Thank you! Since we were already in the area after breakfast at TJ's Filipino Cuisine, we finally got the chance to stop by and try their baked goods for ourselves. We arrived early, so the bakery wasn't too busy yet. The bakers were busy prepping more goodies in the back while my cousin and I browsed all the Filipino baked goods we really miss from back home in the Philippines. They even had suman, sapin-sapin, biko, and other kakanin, which was nice to see. I specifically looked for the chicken empanada, and my cousin wanted to try the ube white chocolate chip cookie. We also saw different kinds of siopao and planned to come back later to buy some before heading back to San Antonio. We tried the ube white chocolate chip cookie first, but honestly we weren't totally satisfied. It tasted more like a regular white chocolate chip cookie with purple coloring and didn't really have much ube flavor. I also tried the chicken empanada. My cousin didn't like it because it was sweeter than expected--we were both expecting it to be savory. There seemed to be caramelized sugar in the outside of the pastry, which probably added to the sweetness. I still like it, though it was definitely sweeter than what I'm used to. Red Ribbon's chicken empanada is still my favorite. Later that day before leaving Houston, we came back for the siopao we planned to take home. We finally decided to just buy a couple pieces for ourselves, heat them up in the bakery, and try them fresh. When we saw the price for a four-pack, we were honestly disappointed. It felt expensive for the size. The siopao wasn't huge, and while I like the dough, there wasn't much chicken filling inside. For the portion, taste, and quality, it felt overpriced. Overall, it's probably not worth making another trip back for us. We did enjoy the cassava ube suman, and I like the chicken empanada, but not enough to drive all the way to Houston just for those. If I live nearby, I might come back to try other baked goods, but based on this visit, I'm not sure the rest would impress my palate. I still give them credit for cleanliness and customer service, although we did notice fruit flies on one of the shelves and reported it. The staff was friendly, and the bakery itself was welcoming. At the end of the day, since they're a bakery, the expectation is great-tasting, quality, mouthwatering Filipino breads, pastries ", and kakanin. While some items were enjoyable, overall it just didn't quite live up to the hype for us.

Not quite sure what to expect, I was pleased to see that it's completely plant-based including the pastries and no extra plus charge for alternative milks (praise!) I ended up ordering their pistachio latte which had a really rich, bold espresso note and a sweet cardamom finish at the bottom of the cup. I would definitely get this again but might try to stir it before drinking for a more even flavor distribution. In terms of the setting, there's lots of small tables and couches to work and study with either a small group or alone. They also have a back patio with additional seating, board games, and even a printer which can be hard to find in this day and age. Overall the vibe is relaxed and casual. Finally, while I had to wait about 30 minutes to order and receive my drink, I had some time to watch their workflow and would offer some suggestions for improvement to speed up their service. The staff all clearly put a lot of care into preparing each drink and were doing the best they could to move quickly, but the layout of the back counter area is fairly inefficient. To start, the ice well for cold drinks is on the complete opposite side of the register away from their espresso machines. This added a lot of steps for the staff to prepare iced coffee drinks. Secondly, the straws were also quite a reach for the staff across the counter, also by the ice well. Finally, the order retrieval process is not the best. There are no names written on the cups and customers are sometimes in the bathroom or outside on the back patio when their order is ready. It can be hard for the staff to locate the right customer or if the drink gets left on the counter, it's hard to know what it is and who it is for. Overall, a pleasant (plant-based!) discovery but hoping they might consider a few steps (pun intended) to reduce the strain on their staff.
