Beef PattiesDumplingsJerk ChickenPeas & Rice This was the worst experience ever with a restaurant ordered on doordash ,first time trying this restaurant and will be the last .ordered Large jerk chicken small jerk chicken beef patties dumplings and drink ... when food arrive sealed bag from restaurant 1 small jerk chicken an1 beef patty only spend 50 to get two items contacted doordash no help so contacted store as well 3 hours trying to just get the food I paid for had ti drive to location none of staff could help so owner showed up mind you I ordered at 530 pm and it's now 845pm get to location employee tell me to wait for owner instead of looking at my receipt and giving me the food I paid for that they didnt make sure was in the bag .so I wait for owner she say well I'm not in the business of giving away stuff ,I said it's not giving away what I paid for she then proceeded to say well I can only give you 1 large jerk chicken but we dont have what you ordered get a refund from doordash .. so her employees say we have the beef patties owner say no thise are for my daughter mind you I still have no refund I said well we will take those instead she proceeds to say no . So needless to say she dont care about customer service and making things right ... while she proceeded to give away food to family while we are there trying to get just what we paid for . Rude ,unprofessional food was cold didint get beans and rice as asked ,food was the worst not good at all I will stick to cool runnings there food is better than this place on Westheimer Stay away bad business read more

I have had a taste of Jamaican food lately and I heard of this spot so I had to check it out. I know that it's a chain, but wanted to see what they offered! They have a pretty expansive menu, which includes oxtails, curry chicken, and jerk chicken. I elected to get the small plate of the Jerk Chicken. The plate also comes with rice/peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also added a spicy beef patty and a piece of the festival (bread). I was very happy with my food! It tasted pretty good to me! The chicken was cooked perfectly and had the right amount of spice! The rice/peas were good. The plantains were GREAT - just the right amount of sweetness. Now the festival was a bit dry, but this can be explained by it sitting out for so long I'm sure. I'm willing to try it again...earlier in the day. The patty was AH-MAZING! Omg. So much flavor and it is actually spicy! Soo good! I will definitely be returning and will sample something else. Highly recommend! read more

This was my first and last time ordering from Golden Krust. I ordered several cheeze beef patties, jerk chicken wings and a jerk chicken combo plate. I could not identify the ingredients inside of the patty. I called the store and she told me that they come in fully cooked and frozen, the are heated up and served. She believed that it was meat or meat and cheese only but could not confirm. The chicken wings and chicken combo was dry. I really wanted to try this place and like it! I ordered the large oxtail plate. The large section was full of rice and peas, one shall section was half full of the cabbage and the other small section had about 5 tiny oxtails and bones. The oxtails were perfectly tender, with a "can't put my finger on it" slight sweetness, peeking from behind all that great seasoning, lol. The rice & peas were delicious as well, not too dry, and not overly moist. The place is pretty small though, so I would recommend taking your order to go. I heard about this franchise upon hearing of the founder's passing. I saw online there was vegetarian options available so I stopped by. I was prepared a vegetarian plate and a vegetable patty. I must say the rice, plantains, vegetables and the veg patty is excellent. All very fresh. The owner of the franchise was very kind and knowledgeable regarding the product and gave me some literature about the founder. Golden Krust is a national chain based out of NY known for their beef patties and the CEO actually went on Undercover Boss. Needless to say, this chain like all other chains are solid just not the best you're going to have. As someone who's thoroughly addicted to Jamaican food I thought I'd try this place out, and it's ok, just not going to blow you away. The portion size is decent and the pricing is decent as well. It's a cafeteria style set-up with your traditional Jamaican fixings: stew chicken, oxtails, jerk chicken, curry chicken, rice and peas, plantains, etc. My jerk chicken was pretty flavorful, and the generous portion of rice and peas made me happy. I was a bit disappointed by the beef patty, not very flaky and a bit skimp on the actual filling. The restaurant itself is small, with just a few hightop tables for dine-in. The customer service is superb. They ran out of beef patties the first day I came in and I decided to give them another shot. I came back the next day and they had a lot of beef patties to be devour. They even had so much that they gave me a free one, talk about rewards service. They serve other Jamaican dishes without the wait which is also a plus. read more

I can't really give this place any stars because I didn't taste the food but I will say they have a variety of patties: beef (spicy, mild, regular), jerk etc. I went w/ a friend who wanted to try it out. She was not pleased at all with her meal. She didn't even finish it. She's Jamaican so I definitely trust her judgement. My son had the Jamaican rainbow cake? We all know how kids are about sweets and desserts...he took 1 bite and threw it away ‍ this restaurant is based out of New York so I'm sure the authentic one is good but I'll just stick to cool runnings. The food is overpriced, they have terrible customer service I called to see why my order was canceled twice in a row and the employee actually argued with me for almost 5 minutes.. today after six months I tried to order again my order was canceled imagine when you want to eat some thing and you're waiting for it and then you just get a notification saying your order is canceled but it's not the first time is the third time! This was the worst food I EVER had. This was a door dash order. 1st of all it took forever to get here, so I am starving (i will blame door dash for that). I knew right away that I wasn't going to like it. It had a funny smell from jump. The coco bread tasted like it had been sitting there a day or 2. The beef patties were DEFINITELY old. I could not even bite into it, like it was hard hard. And the vegetables were not packed properly and the juice was all over the bottom of the bag and that was where the funny smell was coming from. The vegetables were gray.. I wasn't touching that. The wasted juice did not even soften up the beef paty. I just threw it all away. Tried the meat patties, overall they all were pretty good the best to me was the spicy beef. They came hot and the first was kinda flaky. Not the best ever but if you want meat pies they can satisfy your craving. The seasoning was pretty good on all of them. Yes I ordered all of them and #SampleLifed all of them. Just finished lunch at this location. Great experience and food! Luckily, I came before the lunch time rush, so I didn't have to wait in line. Had the fried chicken, which was seasoned VERY WELL, with rice and peas, both topped with oxtail gravy. (FYI, oxtail gravy on top of anything tastes AMAZING!) I also had a side of the traditional veg mix, which had lots of bell peppers, and gave the cabbage a very good taste. The rice and peas were moist, unlike quite a few places in Houston. (As much as I like Island Sizzler, I have never had moist rice and peas there; I usually have to mix it with gravy to wet it up.) They had some ackee left over from breakfast, so I got some of that too! All in all, it was a good experience,and I plan to return. TIP: Ask for a sample! Although I knew what I wanted, I saw a couple of folks come in and get samples to help them decide what they wanted to order. I love places that give samples. Whoever cooked the food tonight did great with the oxtails and cabbage. I've had this place before and the flavor was good but the oxtails were tough. Today, very tender. It would be nice if they had drinks other than water they were not overloaded with white sugar.
