Everyone was pleasant and friendly. Food was excellent for a golden krust. It deserves 5 stars for what it is.

Nothing wrong with the food, But the customer service could be a lot better. I placed an order through DoorDash, called the store to make a change only to find out that two items on the order or no longer available. Was told that I need to cancel it on my end. Couldn't do that, so I called DoorDash to resolve the issue they said they will have to call the store to confirm the items are not available so I can get my refund, so I waited on hold only for them to call me back saying they couldn't reach the store, meaning I can't get a refund. I called the store multiple times (couldn't get them the first couple times). After the 4th-5th time somebody answered I told them the issue and what needs to be done only to be told that DoorDash customer service never called. Yea don't know what kinda scam is being run here but this is beyond me. Just be careful ordering online. read more

Oh my!! Been wanting patties for a while. I love patties and the fact that they usually have vegetarian options. Was driving out of the Family Pack and Ship just down the ways and bumped across Golden Krust. Just as quickly, pulled a maneuver into the parking lot and ran in to get me some! The service was slow... but that's kind of to be expected when there's just one person. When I asked if they had any patties left, first I was told no. But then I was told yes and the only options were the veggie ones. Spinach and Vegetable, the rest of the options were sold out. I have lived in the Tampa Bay area for around 5 years and I've been looking for a good Jamaican restaurant, this is authentic and delicious Jamaican food and that's in my humble opinion as a born and grown Jamaican. I hate to give this Black owned business a less than favorable rating. However, the woman working there usually has an attitude and she talks very fast. She needs to understand that not everyone understands Patwah. She shows frustration while interacting with customers while standing 15 feet way and the customers don't quite understand what she is saying. The food is great. You could sneeze and miss this place in the plaza, so keep your eyes open because it's worth it. I stopped here for lunch during a training one day and had the curry goat lunch special. That comes with cabbage, rice and peas, and I added plantains to it. I tried to tell myself I would only eat half of it and save the rest for lunch the next day. However, I gobbled the whole dish up like the Cookie Monster and loved every second of it. (My iPhone autocorrected Cookie Monster and capitalized it... Weird.) Having tried 3 other Island food places in St. Pete (? on Central Ave, Randy's on US19&13 AV N, ? on US19&22nd AV S), this is by far my favorite one. Surprisingly, this is a franchise. The original has a very inspiring background story; I learned about susu, ""using the Jamaican concept of susu, whereby everyone pitched in $100 a week to raise start-up money after banks refused them a loan." Dine-in? Maybe. There are a couple of tables & a few chairs. Food? Delicious. So very tender meats & and very flavorful spices. Ox tail, curry chicken, jerk chicken (too spicy for me), and many more. Each meal comes with a plateful of rice&beans (yum), sauteed cabbage (yum), and fried plaintains (yum!). You can ask for other veggies in place of rice&beans. Drinks? Ginger beer. carrot juice w/ ginger, soursop w/ ginger, other fruits w/ ginger...and your regular high frutose corn sugar stuff. Dessert? Carrot cake, chocolate cake, other cakes. I drive over the Sky View bridge to get a meal from here, that's how much I enjoy their food! I primarily get the fried chicken, which is always delicious! You can request gravy on your rice and peas (usually oxtail gravy for me.) The meal also comes with cabbage and two plantain. The cabbage sometimes is a hit and miss, but I still enjoy it. The bun and cheese and patties are good too, wish they had the patties available more frequently. I've had other meals from here and it has been good. No issues on my end, so I definitely recommend trying the food. Be careful when trying to find this place though. It's right by the BT&T bank (I think so), you'll miss it if not looking properly. read more

There is no menu so you have to ask what they have and she just turns around and relays what there is available while she does something else. She acts like I have no right to be there and my presence is an inconvenience. I've gone several times hoping to get someone else with no luck. Very nice staff. I love beef patties and wanted to try out this authentic Caribbean place out. I ordered 2 beef patties and small braised oxtail meal. To my dismay the patties looked like they have sat for longer than they should in the warmer. They were very dry and not flakey on the outside. The outer edges where the beef was squished out looked burnt. Hoped they would taste better than they looked since I was hungry... wishful thinking lol. There was a nice man that normally worked the counter; however on my last visit they had a woman working the counter with a serious attitude. The small plate could feed three. Jerk Chicken comes with what I call 'dirty rice and beans and plantains as does the Curry Chicken. Satisfying my desire to have something uniquely different. Monte, one of the owners, told me the place has existed for four years but I've only been here for over a year. 2 stars because of the attitude and availability I popped in here tonight because Publix was jammed (night before Thanksgiving) and I'm a big fan of curry or jerked chicken. She replied 'yes' and proceeded to tell me they only had curried chicken and curried goat. This was 7pm. They close at 8pm. Anyway, I said "perfect!" Since that's all I wanted anyway. She disappeared around the corner for 2 seconds and then shouted to me that they only had curried goat. Again, I replied "perfect" as I tried to be friendly as possible. A few minutes later she delivers a styrofoam box, puts it in a bag and I leave without looking at it. Now, the food: The curry goat was really tender and spicy. Bones, fat, spices, all mixed together. Very tasty. The rice was pretty tasty too. I saw that other reviewer's receiver plantains and cabbage. Mine didn't have either of those. So, in summary, I'd go back one more time to try the curry or jerked chicken. When I went to pay 10 minutes later, my bill was over $42.00. Hmmm....something's not right. The minute I arrived I was greeted by a very nice lady and knew I was in a good place. It was lunch time and I ordered the curried goat. Bang, wow, perfect!!! Instant love on my first visit. The "small" was a full meal and came with plantains, rice, and slaw with a huge helping of the curried goat. As someone who has eaten goat all over the country and in multiple countries, I can assure you this is good goat :-) Perfect spice and incredible flavor.
