In desperation, I tried sending this email but it bounced back. the phone has gone unanswered the sign on the door says reopening 4/25 but we have gone there repeatedly for 2 weeks. no answer. I took 5 simple everyday knit dresses and a pair of Jean's to be hemmed. Very over priced for work done. $25 a dress not wedding gown, but plain knit dress. Took over a week to get the clothing. On the Friday I was scheduled to pick up the items I was the first one on the schedule for that day. Yet when j was going to pick up my clothing the shop called and asked if I could pick it up on Saturday after 1PM. When I arrived, the owner said they were not ready. I asked to pick-up the items that are ready. I was told nothing was ready! Why? You has the order for more when a week. I came a day later as you instructed and it still is not ready! Had to wait till monday. Seems not hidden. Can see all the threads. NOT HAPPY! OVERPRICE & NOT RELIABLE. Would not recommend. read more

I'm new to the area and went to this business based off of previous reviews. DO NOT GO HERE..I REPEAT DO NOT HERE!! I dropped my item off on 8-5 and was told it would be ready by 8-11 and it was not. I informed the seamstress I needed my garment by that particular date. I was stressed out about trying to find something else to wear. DO NOT GO THERE! My daughters wedding is next week and my dress is ruined! ... the tailor Ana ruined my dress. She hemmed the sheer overlay correctly but the dress underneath is above my ankles. It looks ridiculous. She attempted to correct the pleating and caused it to bunch up than denied doing the work. I have photo of the before and after. She proceeded to yell and scream at me in the presence of two customers. The owner just cowered and didn't do anything! Never again! read more

Came here to get my grandmother's vintage wedding veil cleaned and lightened. They were very honest with me up front about not being sure how white it would get. It didn't turn out as white as I wanted, but I really appreciated their honesty and attempt. The tulle did get a lot softer though. It was also extremely affordable! I would come back. read more

Amazing! If you need to go to a cleaners, this is the spot you would want to bring your items! I can't say enough about this place. Last week, I brought in 7 items (blouses and blazers) that needed a GOOD cleaning, and a blouse that was ripped that needed to be sewed. I actually decided to step into this place due to all the positive feedback per yelp on this place and I am so glad that I did! The man at the front desk was so friendly. He took my items and asked when I'd like to pick them up, and gave me my pick up from. And the price was was beyond right! I was SHOCKED! I pick up my clothes yesterday, and they look better than when I initially purchased them! All blouses were pressed, cleaned, and hung so neatly. The blouse that had to be sewed, looked brand new! I'm greatly impressed by this place. This spot is thus far the best cleaners that I've visited. I will definitely return. read more

When I got my bridesmaid dress in the mail 1 week before a wedding, I didn't think I'd be able to get the much-needed alterations in time. Based on another Yelp review, I tried Golden Needle. Let me tell you, the seamstress is an expert who does it right the first time for an unbelievable cost *ON TIME*. She was also kind and revised it for my comfort at pickup (it was done perfectly already, but I was nervous). During the wedding, it was comfortable yet highly fitted, making me feel confident. Very dishonest. They did not make my alterations and when I re tried it on, they decided to re pinn it to take in. They said it was a "re do". When I went to pick up second time, they wanted to charge me again 25.00 to take my blouse in. They refused to give me my blouse unless I paid. read more

I had two suits altered and they did an excellent job. I can't say enough and their work. Most of all the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend the alterations to everyone! Horrible service. Time and time again my items werent ready. 'This place overcharged an extra price for something i had in the original order. Also during the pandemic this place have been ridiculous. The owner of this place is very unprofessional. Store just shut down out of the blue during CV19 without calling the customers of whom belongings they have. Posted a date on the door for 4/25. Went on 4/28 and the sihn was still on the door. I went in today for wedding dress alterations and the woman who owns it was great! She knows what she is doing, very nice, and said she'd have my dress ready in two weeks. Not to mention the price was a LOT less than I thought it would be as I am getting A LOT altered on my dress. I still can't get over the price she quoted me. I liked their cleaning of the clothes but beware I took my husbands shirts there to be laundered very nice white shirts and never got two of them back. I talked to the manager to reamburse me for the shirts that their cleaners lost and he only wanted to pay me 40.00 for both shirts.for 50.00 dollar a piece expensive shirts. Needless to say I'm not happy I spend allot of money on my clothes there not anymore we are going to sue him and never bring a stitch of clothing there ever. So if you have nice shirts don't take them there you might not get them back! read more

I always thought I had to go to the city to have my clothes tailored. Not anymore. I like this nice family owned shop to have my clothes hemmed, adjusted, or recut. They understand how clothes should fit and always have me looking nice, from my jeans, slacks and jackets, even shirts and buttons. Their prices are reasonable and they will give you advice on how to look good but not break the bank in doing so. They also rent tuxedos and do dry cleaning. read more

My experience with Golden Needle unfortunately does not reflect the reviews previously posted. The establishment is not responsive to the needs of customers. I phoned Golden Needle early Saturday afternoon prior to making a trip to the location to confirm their business hours and location. I told the individual answering the phone that I needed a dress shortened. I was asked if the garment was a party dress. I answered that it was a formal gown needed for an event the following Saturday. I was told that the individual that fits party dresses was gone for the day. I was told to bring the garment Monday. I explicitly told the individual that the dress was needed the upcoming Friday. I was told that if I bring the dress on Monday having it ready by Friday would not be a problem. I asked if after work was acceptable. I was told after work is fine simply arrive before 6:30 p.m. The individual again stressed that having the dress shortened by Friday evening would not present a problem. I phoned Golden Needle around 4:30 p.m. on Monday before leaving work to confirm the arrangement made on Saturday. I was asked if I could arrive by 6:00 p.m. as the needed employee wanted to leave a half hour early. I was also asked when I needed the dress back. I responded that I needed the gown by Friday evening. I was told that the dress could not be ready by Friday or even Saturday. I referenced the conversation on Saturday wherein I was assured that having the gown ready by Friday evening was not a problem. I also reminded the staff person that I attempted to bring the dress into their shop on Saturday but could not do so because their employee left early. The employee rudely stated that they could be of no help. My attempt to patronize this local business failed. After speaking with many others who had similar bad experiences with Golden Needle I was referred to another establishment also on 183rd Street. The gown will be ready on Thursday evening. Needless to say I am done with Golden Needle. read more

Brilliant place! Had 3 dresses that needed alterations and had them done in 2 weeks. Just got them back today and they are FABULOUS. Very amazing staff, cooperative, sweet, incredibly nice, and very talented at alterations. 1/3 of the dresses would originally not zip up fully, went to 4 different other alteration shops before meeting Golden Needle and they told me that it was IMPOSSIBLE/ 600$+/ nothing can be done. Lastly came to this place known as Golden Needle in Homewood Illinois, and the wholesome lady that does alterations FOUND a WAY to make the dress work. Tried the dress on today and it was BEYOND PERFECT. Nothing else could be said. This place is AMAZING. LOW PRICES. All 3 of my dresses that needed to be altered costed only 215$! AMAZING price + AMAZING staff = AMAZING result. I recommend EVERYONE to come to this alteration shop. Very AFFORDABLE. So IMPRESSIVE. Anything you need, come to this beyond amazing shop!
