I have had a terrible time with Pride Cleaners located in the strip mall on the corner of 183rd and Governs Highway. They took a white pleated dress and ironed all the pleats out. When I complained, the owner said it was a "manufacturer's defect". When I replied hogwash and presented him with my sale invoice which reflected the price paid for the dress, he said ok he would take care of it. I returned weeks later and he told the old same story about not being able to reach the manufacturer. This conversation has been taking place over 3-4 months. I finally told him he needs to replace my dress (wasn't that expensive but it was cute....pleated). He told me to "GET OUT OF HIS SHOP". Do not use Pride Cleaners in Homewood! Attracted by the one-price ($2.59, then $2.79) dry cleaning option, I decided to give Pride my dry cleaning business in the Fall of 2013. I used them exclusively until March of 2014 when they ruined two dress shirts. I noticed the left sleeves of two dress shirts were ripped in the same place (below left elbow area) after pickup from their Cherry Creek location. I returned the shirts on Monday and was told a manager would contact me. Two days later no call was received, so I followed up. Thursday morning, owner (Greg E.) contacted me, telling me in no uncertain terms that they did not damage my shirts. He claimed it was done by another dry cleaner, because Pride's machines could not have caused the damage, and the shirts were buttoned differently than their standard. Further, he theorized that driving and/or wear from desk/office work caused the damage. I rejected both suggestions; I used Pride exclusively for ~6 months and the driving/office wear suggestion was simply foolish. He continued with his diatribe, telling me that he operates an honest business and has accepted responsibility for damaged items in an effort to maintain customer loyalty. However, he offered only $20 in coupons for the two shirts. That was unacceptable. I realize accidents happen, and want only a fair and responsible response. Overpriced and doesn't deliver. I brought in two dresses for cleaning and two pairs of pants for seam repair. $36 seemed a bit pricy, but I needed the pants repaired ASAP. Dropped off on a Saturday and paid ahead; cashier told me to pick up on Thursday. On Friday, I came to pick up, but the pants weren't ready: "Come back in a week." Fine, I did. Pants still weren't ready. I asked for a refund, but the cashier said she couldn't give it. I took my pants and called the manager (owner?), leaving a voicemail to express my dissatisfaction. I've been going here for about 8 years and it used to be fantastic. Great service and high quality. It's never been inexpensive but they differentiated themselves with other things. They used to be open on Sunday and have a drop box for clothes after hours. These were unique for those working. They've eliminated both at the Dixie store and just say to go to Governors store. That store has awful clerks and is on other side of town. No way. There are about 5 cleaners just down the street on Dixie so why go way out of way? Quality is still fine and Jamie (owner) is nice and explains over and over why changes were made but that doesn't help me. And for some reason they think it's ok to take up two parking spaces in the very small parking lot with their dumb truck... Really? There's a huge lot next door to park in and no place ever let's employees take prime spots in front of businesses, let alone two spots! There are times I have to leave wo/stopping because there's no open spot but their truck is happily clogging up the lot. I am going to look elsewhere. Unfortunate. read more

This place has been around as long as I can remember. My parents went to this place so I figured it was a good establishment. I tore a rather large hole in the back of my leather coat and went there to see if they could fix it. I dropped it off on the 18th of January and I was told someone would call me the following day with an estimate on the price. I started a new job that day and the coat was the last thing on my mind. I didn't get a call all week and just decided to go back on the 28th which is what my receipt said when it would be ready. I go in and they have done nothing with the coat. The lady told me she would tell the manager and he would call me. Another week goes by and I still hear nothing. At this point I was starting to get irriated. I go in again about a week later and again the coat is still hanging in the same spot with the same hole in it. I talk to a different guy and he gives me the manager's business card and tell him he will talk to the manager. Low and behold I actually get a call from the manager (finally) and he tells me he's going to talk to the tailor. Good, the tailor calls me and explains everything to me and tells me it will be ready by Monday. I go in there the Saturday after that Monday and it's STILL NOT DONE. At this point they had the coat for FIVE WEEKS! They tell me it will be ready on the 28th of February. I told them if I don't get a call from someone on the status I'm taking my business elsewhere. He tells he will talk to the tailor and he will call me. Another week goes by and still no call from anyone. Saturday roles around and I go in there fully intending to get my coat unaltered and leave, and miraculously the coat is finally done, after SIX WEEKS. They were nice enough to take $30 off the tailoring but it was too little, too late. I will never go to this place again simply because of the way they run their business. I wasn't even really all that upset that it took so long, I was more pissed that they gave me the run around every single time I was in there. Then they gave me date of when the coat would be ready and it wasn't ready and they didn't bother to call me and tell me it's not going to be ready then. I mean, I was told it would be ready on February 16 and then I go in and they said it wasn't going to be ready until the 28th. Seriously? Just call me and tell me that. I had to go in 3 times just to even get the first phone call about the prices. That's ridiculous. They were nice to me every time I went in and yes they did give me a great discount because of their screw up, but it was handled so poorly that they have lost a customer because of it. I have been a long time customer bring items on a weekly basis including several King size comforters to be clean - spending several hundreds of dollars because at that time before DAN the service and cleaning was adequate and I support businesses in my neighborhood. However several months ago I dropped several bundles of clothes including 7 pairs of designer jeans and when I went to pick them up within two-three weeks max - they could not locate them. I was told they had a new team and some of the ladies were not ringing items correctly and to allow them to search for them - which I did. I called a week later and they still had not found them. They asked if I could wait until the manager DAN came to the store later in the week to discuss and he would call me. Well that didn't happen and I ended up going back to the store to ask for his number which they reluctantly gave. I spoke to him, he said he knew about the missing items, he was busy and to give him a week to investigate. I gave him more than three weeks before calling him again. Still no items and he offered NO resolution and was not willing to pay me for the establishment loosing my clothes. This is ridiculous and I will NEVER do business there again and I caution others to think twice before doing so as well. Pride Cleaners does NOT take pride in their service and it's terrible! I have been going to this cleaners for close to a year. The dry cleaning service did decent work. I recently had to use their tailor services. I took two jackets in for zippers on separate occasions. The first jacket sat on the tailor's table for two weeks. Promises were made that it would be ready. When she finally completed the jacket, I dropped off another one for a new zipper. Same situation. I should have learned the first time. When I went to pick up the jacket the tailor said she had to order the zipper. This is after two weeks again of the jacket sitting on her table. I politely told the tailor she may have lost my business to which she responded, that's okay. I have enough business. Not a professional establishment in my opinion. This cleaners is the absolute worse. I used to go weekly due to my work attire. The old owners really took more pride and care. Recently I sent a blouse there. When I went to pick it up they could not find it. It took them almost a week to find my shirt. Then when I went to pick it up the collar was ripped up and I only wore that shirt one time. This shirt cost me $336.00. And it was a very fine linen. I'm not sure how or what was done to my shirt and the fact hat they could not find it for a week really baffles me. Did someone else wear my shirt and ripped it up? Was it there machinery that did it? Doesn't matter. They did not pay me for my shirt. On top of it I had to send back several items that were cleaned but stains spots or even dirt was still on them. This place is a horrible. The customer device is horrific. I decided to take my jeans to Pride Cleaners this morning to have them hemmed since I have been unable to connect with my usual Tailor for the past 2 weeks. Upon entry into Pride Cleaners I was warmly greeted by a lovely lady in purple named Josandra. I told her that I needed my jeans tailored and asked if there was a Tailor on duty. Josandra said she was the Tailor on duty for today. She measured me and my jeans and told me she could have them ready for me later in the evening. When I returned this evening, my jeans were complete and PERFECT all the way down to stitching at the bottom!!! Pride Cleaners is my new place to have my clothes tailored thanks to Josandra; she has gifted hands and her work is precise. read more

I'm an EXTREMELY dissatisfied customer with the Homewood location Cleaners! I took two pairs of pants to be PRESSED ONLY on July 2, 2019 & was PROMISED they would be ready July 3rd by 4pm. (I was going out of town for the 4th of July holiday.) When I went to pick them up, the clerk COULDN'T LOCATE my pants! I asked her for the manager's number to discuss the matter. She gave me Dan's number & I called & left SEVERAL messages for him to call me. The female employee advised me she left the messages on his desk & emailed him also. She assured me he would call me. Of course he DIDN'T, so after several weeks passed, I became very frustrated & contacted the Better Business Bureau. The company NEVER responded to their inquiries! Finally, I decided to go in person to the Homewood location July 30th & LO & BEHOLD my pants were there! I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED after SEVERAL calls to Dan & the Cleaners! I was told if the pants were located, I would be contacted. I asked the clerk if she would contact Dan to see if I had to pay the $8.40 bill after my inconvenience & trouble. She said no, so I paid the bill. I told her I would NEVER step foot into a Pride Cleaners for the rest of my life & will also advise my family, friends, neighbors, church members & everyone else about my TERRIBLE experience with this cleaners! If I didn't have to leave a star I wouldn't. When I walked in I was skeptical but thought I would give them a chance since the price was reasonable. When I picked up my dress I was told "I needed to make a minor adjustment" What? Surprised I didn't get a phone call even though she said she called. I looked at all my numbers from the past two weeks and no phone call. Didn't apologize or offered a discount, said she could fix it. Or I can come back the next day. She immediately got on her cell phone and left me standing there to pay the cashier. I now have to cancel my other appointments to go buy another dress for my event. I will not be going back there. DO NOT BRING YOUR VALUED ITEMS HERE! (Homewood Dixie Hwy) I rarely, if ever review the businesses on social media. However, this is one of the worst and quickest declines of a long term business that I have seen. It is all because a new owner who doesn't care about his product or his customers recently took over this business. We have been using this cleaners for years. Since the new owner Dan took over this business it has steadily gone down the tubes. The cleaning services are horrible. Your items come back in worse condition than what you took in. I brought in a basic comforter, and it came back with stains that I never had on it, and cat/dog hair all over it. I DONOT OWN ANY ANIMALS! Took it back for a redo-- it still came back filthy! Brought in a coat with a larger spill on it the day after the spill occurred. They let the item sit for 5 days! This ensured the stain became permanent. When we unknowingly went in to pick it up-nothing had been done! They stated " The owner wanted you to sign a release". They never asked us to when we dropped it off, nor did they ever call to tell us this so it could be done. Instead they let the jacket sit there. Had we not gone in, it might still be sitting with no communication from them. We called the owner multiple times. He never returns phone calls. While I was on hold waiting to speak to him, I could hear a customer in the complaining that she had brought in a coat that came back to her in worse condition than she had brought it to them in. She said it her third trip up there to talk to them about this. And he was not giving her any resolution either. Dan never came to the phone, though I held for over 10 minutes. When I called back multiple times the phone went directly to voicemail to a message machine which says it "does not accept voicemail messages" so you cannot contact him in any way. It is really sad, because there are some nice employees who work there. Additionally, people of the Homewood and Flossmoor community have used their services for years, but folks like us will now walk away because of the horrendous service and because they want to keep their items in good condition. I've been bringing my cleaners to Pride for 16yrs without any major incidents and their customer service was outstanding UNTIL THEY RECENTLY SOLD IT. WORSE customer service since this establishment was recently sold! Yes, they ruined an expensive top that I've only worn once!! They claim they are not responsible since they don't use bleach; yet they use some type of solution to clean white clothes with.. I've been following up with them every wk (even went in the shop) and left my number multiple times. The status: "cleaner is in the process and to call back and speak with the manager!" What does this mean, I finally ask. I wanted to speak to the manager (every time I called) and finally someone said, we don't have a manager you need to speak to the owner. Yet, 4.5 wks thereafter and no return calls. The run around, no communication not a word!!! At this point, it's no longer the top; it's the PRINCIPLE! The communication, the Unprofessionalism, the rudeness of this older lady there. DO NOT BRING YOUR CLEANERS HERE even if you do receive that 5.00 coupon, not worth the aggravation. read more

Very, very, poor customer service! This was my very first (and my last) time, even, using this dry cleaners. The clerk, on duty, was very rude. I had informed him that I was new; and asked about the services provided there, and the prices, etc. He pointed, apparently, to signs. I informed him that I had strokes, heart attack, etc.; and that my vision, close up, is blurry, and my health is poor (I was having trouble standing) ... if he can just tell me what they provide. He grabbed my bag of clothing, gave me TWO separate invoices, and charged me what I believed to be an expensive amount. While I was still there, another customer came in, and ordered, a service, that was, apparently, a much lower cost service; and he had 6 very nice dress pants. YES, I was upset, and mad. After the customer left, I inquired about it; and the clerk just stared at me, and said, I told you to read the signs. Lesson learned! I should have just followed my first instinct, and had taken my clothes elsewhere! Heed any red flags, people! The store manager (maybe, even, owner) is ruder than the clerk. A few days later, I called him because Pride Cleaners had lost (one piece) my clothing, etc ... which was just one of the problems that I had (the others that I won't mention here). He defended his clerk of ALL of his actions (he didn't want to hear it, etc.), and informed me that I should have ordered the more expensive service, if I had wanted better attention given to my clothes, etc., that he was tired of me, that he didn't care about my health, etc. And, I'm not, even, mentioning ALL of the problems that I had with this cleaners. I will end this review in THAT I DO NOT RECOMMEND this cleaners, to anyone ... unless you just do not care about your clothing, or the services provided, to you.
