First and foremost, love that this place is 100% halal (save for the one crab dish they have very clearly labeled as having alcohol in it). They have a sushi bar (it's not all next to each other so be on the lookout). They have all your regular Asian buffet fare, and it's all super good. The salmon nigiri is unlike anything I have ever seen before in Michigan. The slice is thick, tasty, and fresh. The nigiri is large in size too! We recently visited Golden Palace Buffet and overall it was a decent experience. The food selection was pretty good for a buffet. They had a variety of Chinese dishes, seafood options, and the usual buffet favorites like fried rice, lo mein, chicken dishes, and desserts. Pretty average Chinese buffet. Some things were good, some things were not. Hit or miss. Quantity over quality- they could cut out some of the not so good options (Mac and cheese, mozzarella sticks, etc) and focus on the quality of the better foods. My boyfriend felt a little ill after but I felt fine. He had a lot of crawfish which I did not, so I would assume that is likely the culprit. I was impressed with the variety of sushi! Dimsum AND sushi on a buffet? I had to try it. I was looking forward to it for a couple weeks. Loooooonng line to get in. Waited ~10 minutes in line with my family just to try and get a table. On a weeknight at roughly 8pm. The people at the front desk were borderline surly/rude. It wasn't good. The "stir-fry" had a line 10-15 people long the entire time we were there. The sushi was 90% rice. The "dim sum" was mostly empty, and there was no variety. Crab legs on the buffet. Yay! But they were mobbed every time they brought them out. It was like Wal-Mart on Black Friday. Had to fight to try to get a couple crab legs. I have better things to do with my time. I had some good sesame chicken. I had some good sweet and sour. The spring rolls were passable. But this was a $20 buffet and it wasn't really better than $12 buffets closer to my house. We come in with a party of 5 and we tell them we have more people coming... The price was 23 dollars plus tax per person and they were adding gratuity which is fine but that price was ridiculous. Another family member came in and said they would cover all of us. That family member paid and they told someone else from our group that it wasn't paid and tried to get extra money. They charge you all this money, the cashier in charge was very rude loud and disrespectful. They told us it's a 2 hour limit on the buffet and literally they stopped serving us drinks at the 2 hour mark and they stood close by watching and monitoring us giving us the look as it's time to leave. You will get full off one plate so the price is ridiculous. Then you're literally fixing your own plate so why are they charging gratuity. They only bring your drinks literally. Had my family member not wanted to stay I would have got my money back and went else where. I paid for my sister, myself and my 6 year old niece and our bill without gratuity was 69.05... I went here with my family on a Saturday: it was dinner all day for around $24/person (there's also a 10% senior discount). The restaurant is clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking in regularly and taking away plates. Some premium items that were good quality: ginger green onion blue crab, steamed whole fish with soy sauce (labeled as flounder but doesn't look like it - however, was rich and flaky like flounder/sea bass), Chinese pepper salt shrimp, and snow crab legs. All were good quality and didn't taste old or fishy (blue crab meat not very firm so it was frozen, but still tasted delicious). My dad said the snow crab didn't have much flavor, so they were boiled for too long - Other good items: chicken skewers (used thigh meat and had good flavor), chicken & broccoli, steamed garlic shrimp and vermicelli noodles, honey chicken (honey sauce tasted good on the chicken pieces), spring roll (not too greasy, was crispy), tiramisu cake (good coffee flavor, not too sweet) - Mediocre: lo mein (it was really doughy), pepper steak (pretty one dimensional flavor), dumplings (wish they were pan fried instead of deep fried - they were greasy and tasted prepackaged), green beans (kind of greasy), general tso chicken (run of the mill - I've had better) - Not so good: deep fried artificial crab (thought it would be scallops because it was in that shape, but it wasn't...didn't eat the breading), wonton dumpling (had a tiny amount of beef inside that didn't taste great), strawberry cake (cream tasted almost like chemicals - very artificial. Cake was dry and rough), noodle bar (my mom said the soup didn't have flavor). If they didn't have the premium items when I went (which they probably don't have most of them during weekday lunches, I would guess), I would not be giving this 4 stars. So I would recommend doing the dinner option for buffet if you like seafood: with those premium seafood items, you can definitely get your money's worth! The ad says "All you can eat crab legs" but what it DONT say is, IF YOU WANT THE CRAB-LEGS, EVERYONE AT THE TABLE HAS TO BUY THEM TOO. Whether you eat them or have an allergic reaction to them. I think they'll lose people because quite a few of people complained at the register. The Ambiance was good, drinks were OK. Very clean place. Listen. This was the worse restaurant experience I have ever had. The atmosphere was awful! Children running around, people yelling, the food not being freshly made. My son waited for the same chicken for over 20 minutes and it still never came, he just gave up. You are treated like a criminal upon entry! You have to pay before you even sit down and eat or taste your food! You have to pay for drinks before you drink anything! Extremely careless customers forcing the owner to have to make rules like I've never seen, at the most expensive Chinese buffet I've ever been to. I felt bad for the staff and the owners. I'm sure they didn't expect this in Livonia. I know we didn't! I actually felt unsafe and a bit concerned for our vehicle. Had a late lunch here yesterday, and I really enjoyed it. I think they just opened a few days ago. This is located in the exact same spot as the the previous Fortune Buffet that existed here for many years before. The place was very clean and the food was fresh with lots of good choices. The service was also great, they checked on us repeatedly for drink refills and also promptly cleared away emptied plates. They offer a senior discount, but it is not advertised. on the bill, before you've eaten or had any service from staff, they want you to leave a tip. This is crazy!! At the bottom of the bill they have it spelled out: 18%, 20%, 25%. It's a buffet, how much service will the wait staff have to do???? It is clean in the DR. labels could be better on the food items. The baked salmon was good, although a little too much lemon for my taste. The crab rangoon was also v. good, plenty of cream cheese in it, although v. little crab.
