I believe this restaurant just opened recently. Great little hidden gem. Wait staff is awesome. Great food and generous portions. They serve a combination of Chinese and Japanese food including sushi. And they have lunch menu all day. Dessert was a incredibly fresh melon, fortune cookies and chocolate. And after paying the bill the waiter comes out with a bag of delicious plums as a take home gift, incredibly pleasant surprise. Leaving the restaurant the owners had a lush display of offerings for Chinese new year. I'm wishing great luck for this restaurant. Looking forward to coming back. read more

My family loves going to this restaurant a lot. My parents always order the golden fried rice, which is fried rice with egg white and crab meat, REAL crab meat! I'm a seafood person, so my personal favorite is the sushi, I always order the smoked salmon and unagi one. Smoked salmon is actually so so but the unagi is not joking, the sauce is suppose to be sweet, which a lot unagi I tried before was too sweet, while theirs is actually balanced at the right point! read more

Ordered beef chow fun last sat. It was the worst looking chow fun I've ever gotten. The noodles were small, dark and broken into little pieces. The bean sprouts looked minimal and way over cooked along with the noodles. The beef was plentiful but dry. I gave it two stars as the flavor had a good wok flavor. Decent Chinese food, can't say the food ordered was anything too special. We ordered the basics... beef/ chicken with rice. The staff was nice / friendly. One of the guy's shirt was a unprofessional/ too inappropriate to be worn in a "family friendly" restaurant. I'd recommend the restaurant invest in some outside lights, at night the front door is literally pitch black. But other than that it's a good family owned restaurant. I had came here for Chinese food here this weekend, but it really isn't Chinese food. Drove a long way here due to the 4.5 star review rating and was really surprised that they serve anything and everything that is remotely Asian from sushi to ramen to "Chinese food". Although many items look really good on the picture, in reality everything has a very strong sweet and sour taste and there wasn't anything that was remotely authentic. For the fried dumplings, it comes with vinegar, but even the vinegar was sweeter than a frappacino and they do not have the basic "unsweetened" vinegar. If you like Americanized fast food Chinese food this might be ok but if you were looking for something authentic or do not want every dish with 2 table spoons of sugar, I would really shy away from this place. read more

This place really irritates me. The Japanese side of this place really disappoints. First, my partners California roll had a little hair on it, but they didn't want to complain. They ordered a $15 Jays Special roll. And the thing was tiny, full of cucumber, forgotten ingredients (crab, that we forgot about until the end), so we couldn't send it back. Honestly though, the tuna was paper thin, and honestly the roll should have been a kappa maki with rice on the outside, with how much cucumber and rice there was. The menus barely have any descriptions at all. The prices are very above what they should be for the portions. They seemed to skip out A LOT on the meats and fishes. Many of the servers didn't understand my questions a lot (which just made it worse. And nothing against them but that didn't help at all, since I hope I can be able to ask questions. We have been waiting quite long for our check. The location: it doesn't know what it wants to be with decor. I hope they pick something and go with it. They had painting of all different cultures and cuisines, and not in a Trendy way, but in a disorganized way. They had a cotton candy looking machine in the corner. The whole time, it was not peaceful at all. The staff were doing something with boxes and bags on a table near the middle and just kind of running around. This was my birthday dinner, and I'm sorry to say it was a terrible experience. I don't want to assume this is how they always are, based on the yelp reviews. But good luck to them, and I hope I was just a bad one-off. But it really ruined the special night. P.S. a side note, my family said the Chinese food was tasty, but some I talked to agreed the portions were small with most. And when I looked, the meat portion (the part that makes the price acceptable) seemed to seriously be lacking compared to other places I have been. This is a very popular neighborhood joint that has a very pleasant well-lit interior. It does both sushi and Chinese food, which is always a little suspect for me. We did a couple of bento boxes, which were solid. Basic Teriyaki salmon and chicken. We also ordered a walnut prawn dish that they forgot then made it for us to take home. This dish was not so successful and did not look like the picture on the menu. Breading was much too thick. This dish requires a very thin cornstarch only coating. The sauce was oddly on the side. Particularly in today's "delivery" environment, nothing is worse than luke warm Chinese food with frozen veggies (my typical experience with SF Chinese restaurants). For a small town "Asian" restaurant (really? Chinese/Japanese) - this place was really good and a great value. The free sesame balls and hot and sour soup to start the meal we're not only a nice touch - they were surprisingly tasty (there's so much bad hot and sour soup out there - this stuff was really good). A nice bento box (with seaweed salad) was followed by and entire orange and more sesame balls after I said I liked them. Moraga does not seem blessed with good places to eat. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I have been 2 times and it continues to exceed expectations. My favorite thing on the menu is the fried rice. It is to die for! Great service!! Cute interior. Prompt and friendly. We loved the veggie fried rice and veggie chow mein. Veggie basil with tofu was good too. Our least favorite dish was Mango chicken, weird texture on chicken and sauce. Decent price for portion and well worth it considering the lovely service and amazing bonus items (free hot tea, fresh watermelon slices, bowl of fortune cookies, random but appreciated box of peaches to go). For the 2 times that I've been here, I would say this is your typical Asian restaurant. Here you can order Japanese and Chinese cuisine. To me, that sort of ruins the authenticity. This place does have good food though. On Tuesday, when I went here with my friend Kat, we ordered one plate of Chow Fun and another plate of Hong Kong Pan Fried noodles. They were both good sized orders, which we didn't even get the chance to finish. The workers were very nice, and would come over to our table every 5 minutes to ask us how we were doing. This is the only restaurant we've been to in Moraga. We came here a few years ago while out in the East Bay boonies for baseball and make sure to stop by every time we're in the neighborhood. I LOVE the tofu with vegetables. They have a dish that is called 'Kung Pao three ways' which is chicken, beef, and shrimp on one plate. And it's delicious. This visit, the kids had the California roll, the caterpillar roll, and the tempura roll and they gobbled it up. Every time we come, they give us watermelon for dessert and mangoes to take home. To top it off, the service is outstanding. As far as I'm concerned, this is the only place to eat in Moraga! read more

Seems to be family ran or at least a group of very close people which makes for a great ambiance and experience. They are super friendly and are always willing to help you out, whether it be seating, take out or editing an order. You can tell they've got their system down. I normally order for takeout since it is very close to my home (within 3 miles) and at this point, as soon as I call, a leave my house to go pick it up and its ready within 10-15 minutes. How they do it i do not know but all i know is the food is always piping hot and as fresh as can be. I would recommend the generals chicken or the secheswan beef. Both are stellar. i also cant get over the price! Its not crazy cheap but compared to a lot of the other option in town, its cheap. 13-15 dollars will get you a large size order of meat and a side of rice with complementary chilli sauce and soy sauce, along with a bunch of fortune cookies and fruit.
