Very poor quality Chinese takeout restaurant. Do not eat here if you are craving something good. Ordered the large orange chicken and general tso's chicken with fried rice. Both of the chickens tasted almost identical which is scary. Not spicy at all and there was no crunch, everything was soggy. Terrible flavor. Fried rice was yellow and tasted like it came out of a package. I don't trust fried rice if it looks like there's absolutely no soy in there. You can only get a refund on your food if you take it back and prove that there's something actually wrong with it. Blah. They just aren't cooking with any flavor here. Visually our food looked typical, but then nothing on the buds. You expect it spicy? It won't be. You expect it seasoned? Sorry again. This was the first time I've ever in my life added soy sauce to a General Tso's chicken, just to get a little salty & savory umami flavor. On top of that the lady helping us had an attitude, barely talked, refused to smile or thank us or be kind in any way. Beyond the sour puss you sometimes get at Chinese takeout. And I know she's capable of it, since she was sooo nice to a regular gentleman who came in after us for takeout. For him she was absolutely glowing, full of smiles, "thank you"'s and "come again." Plus she refused to customize our order. China River on May always does that for us. That is what I get for straying from my usual. China House Express on Britton is another better alternative. I really did like this place when I first discovered it, everything seemed to be on point. My last visit was just that MY LAST. First I walk in and say hi , stood at the front for minutes, was never greeted back. Some white lady walks in and I told her I was waiting to be greeted, she didn't care, cuts me the Asian or whatever lady comes out takes her money and just skips me, then she wanna act like she don't know English when I explained to her what happened. With one of the most extensive menus I've ever seen, it's hard not to find something everyone is happy with. Today we had company so we ordered a little more than usual. Crab Rangoon, egg rolls, pot stickers, egg drop soup, hot & sour soup, house special fried rice, chicken with cashew nuts, Moo goo gai pan, general tso's chicken, and house special egg foo young. The portion size for togo was perfect, nice size portions but the food just didn't have any good flavor, the tso general chicken was very soggy but the restaurant was very clean and they took a lot of covid precautions. Egg foo young smelled like spoiled seafood, I ordered the shrimp, shrimp were dried up and old, not fresh, chicken wings were fried so hard I couldn't eat them,and hot and sour soup was so full of mushrooms and other veggies but had absolutely no flavor, was not sour, or spicy at all. You ever have a friend from junior high for whom you have nostalgic feelings? You think about how you enjoyed spending time with him/her, and you tell all of your new friends about how they kind of suck in comparison to this mythical friend from the days of your youth. And then, years later, you get a chance to hang out with your junior high friend and you have a moment. That moment when you realize that one of two things has happened: 1. Your friend became really lame since you last saw him/her. or 2. Your friend was never that fun to begin with and your memories were false/skewed for some reason. Great Wall is that friend. It was really bland. I had emphasized that I want it extra spicy and that request was not met. I just tasted noodles. And noodles. And the occasional piece of meat (to be fair, they weren't stingy about the meat). It's not awful, but because it wasn't anywhere near as good as I remember, it's like I was eating American-Chinese food tainted with lies. This place is fast and convenient. Ordered two entrees and it was definitely enough for 4. It was pretty tasty and good reheated. I got the veggie chow Mai fun and crab Rangoon and B got the general tso's chicken - his personal favorite. Can't hire quality help, food is bland, order wasn't ready when promised - in fact, I had to tell them what I ordered about six times and then waited 20 minutes after the time it was supposed to be ready. Great Service! Ordered crab rangoons, sweet/sour shrimp, rice, egg rolls. FAST delivery, I live about 2.5 miles away and I seriously got my food in around 16 minutes flat from when I placed my order online. Also, my egg rolls were missing, figured I would chalk it up to bad luck or human error, didn't call them back or anything....about 15 minutes later the same driver came back with my 2 egg rols. That is great customer service to spend that much time over $3 egg rolls and I didn't even have to call them for it. Some of you are thinking "well that's how it should be anyway". I agree, however the sad fact is not everyone will do this, I've had whole pizza orders never show up and nobody calls me, so I appreciate this, it was a long day and I really wanted those egg rolls. In this area, my Chinese food experience is dominated by Pei Wei. Sure it's a chain ("booooooooooooo"), but its consistent, fast and has a decent selection. In the adventurous mood, I journeyed across the seas of NW 63rd to see the Great Wall. Walked in and yes, this place is strictly to-go only. So far so good. Placing my order for some General Tso's chicken and steamed rice, I was greeted by someone that clearly didn't care if I or that someone was there. But okay, some days I don't want to work either. After waiting about 8 mins my order was...time wise, pretty decent. I must note there was a good stream of customers during this time, who had called in an order. And now the most important, the taste test. The chicken pieces that weren't drenched in a tasty / ample amounts of heat General Tso's sauce (hoping that's what it's called. But for reviews sake it is. Now back to the chicken) was terribly bland. One could argue the chicken is meant to be hosed down with sauce so why be so darn picky? To which I aptly respond, don't know. I ate it, this is what I thought. Add in the sauce and this was decent. Not great, just decent. As for the egg roll, it backed up the decent label already placed on the chicken. And the steamed rice, well it's steamed rice. If I told you it's the best steamed rice in the world, would that change your dining destination this evening? #ThingsIThinkAboutWhileTyping In review, it's pretty quick, in an easily accessible location, with decent food. I love the Great Wall! I've been getting the General Tso chicken with egg roll and fried rice every couple of months for the past seven years. The food is consistently good (although I get really dehydrated afterward due to the seasonings) and the price is right. I look forward to going every time someone suggests it.
