The food was horrible- frozen "egg rolls" mainly stuffed with rich a few shredded carrots and tasted disgusting.The pork fried rice smelled horrible, I pushed it aside and refused to eat it. This is my very first visit to this restaurant and it was enjoyable. I generally eat steamed and fresh veggies, sushi and other raw preparation, HOWEVER, on my 1 cheat day a week, I chose Tempura. I'm so glad I did. It is Deliciously piping hot and so crispy. The sauce is savory and not spicy at all. The staff is nice and welcoming. They have a nice group of regulars, which means that they are all about providing great & friendly customer service. I will be back and plan on bringing friends with me. read more

Sorry, too many of this type of place to make it a destination food habit. Not too far from me, would have been nice to place it in my go to bag. The inside was meh, they do have a bar that was pretty full neighborhood folks l surmise. Service was a bit rushed for a half full restaurant. I had the Maryland Roll. Nope, nope,and nope. First time l had dry sushi! It was topped with crab that was stringy and flavorless. My guess had a dinner special with soup and was not impressed. Too many of these type establishments in the county to get by with meh. Throw a rock in any direction and you will hit one. Fried rice is amazing, usually but this last order was worst. I was wondering if there was a different cook in house of something. Everything was extra salty, our entire order, all $99.75 worth. My ordering didn't have the extra item that I requested, egg rolls were undercooked and again, everything was extra salty ...fried rice seemed like it was cooked in gallons of soy sauce. Oh and ordered two large soups ...had to pay extra for the soups wontons. They only provide one bags per soup, regardless what size you order which' is ridiculous. I have to give a nod to Golden Pavilion for their food and service. I went with a large group and all of our dishes came out looking great! I ordered the Ikageso Karaage for something different and it hit the spot; Not overdone yet a great crunch on the outside. My entree was orange beef. It seemed a bit heavy on the batter but I found beef in every bite, it was cooked perfectly, and was well flavored. Some times large groups can be a challenge but every dish that was brought to our table looked amazing and the service was attentive and friendly. read more

This is my new favorite hidden treasure, quick stop restaurants, located in a strip mall hands down! To think all of these years dating way way back to my years at BSU I assumed it was a simple carryout only. But low and behold it's a full blown restaurant with a full bar! Apparently, I'm super late to get the memo because there was plenty of customer traffic in and out of the door nonstop! For dinner, I went with the Mongolian beef which is one of my all time favs and ole reliable meals. I HIGHLY recommend it at GP as it's the best ones that I've now tasted twice there. Good food here! Ordered take out for lunch. Shrimp egg foo yung, general tso chicken, shrimp fried rice. The shrimp dishes were very good! General tso tasted more bbq like, so we didn't like that dish. All 3 dishes were cooked fresh, rice was soft and moist (like it should be) and the spring roll was good too. Now I don't eat spring rolls because they are usually hard and dry. But NOT these!! Soft, moist contents, good flavor. This is actually a restaurant (not a carryout). Entrance, waiting area, and bar were very clean. Seating appeared comfortable (I didn't sit). Staff was pleasant and welcoming. There were a few customers at the tables eating also. What a hideous experience this was...it started out nicely enough: we were warmly greeted and shown to a nice booth in a very clean dining room. Drink and food orders were taken right away...and that's when everything pretty much began to go into the tank. The hot and sour soup was unlike any other I've had-very thin light brown broth but decent enough in terms of flavor. The wantons, however were stale-seriously stale-like days stale. My sweet and sour shrimp were so overcooked as to be hard inedible hockey pucks with a stodgy batter and sauce that was goopy and flavorless. The stodgy-ness continued into the fried rice which also had a weird unpleasant taste. The egg roll was burned and the filling was full of red stuff. My husband's chicken chow mein was decent. After we ate we waited...and waited...and...you get the picture. There was literally no one in the dining room. After a long time I went to the bar where there were 2 men-one on his cell phone and the other prepping the sushi area. I stood waiting without any acknowledgement even after saying "hello" -nada. Finally I went around to the kitchen to say that we were ready to pay and that my husband needed a to go box. While I was there, I noticed a bucket on the floor with some gray water and pieces of floating fish. I was so ready to love this place. I've ordered pick up once and dined in once. My review will focus mostly on the dining in experience. We ordered three entrees, Pork Chow Fun, General Tsos Chicken and Whole Duck. The duck was absolutely delicious and the serving size was quite substantial. General Tsos was only okay, it was quite unamusing, nothing special to discuss. Chow Fun was quite good when we ordered it for take out, but for this dining experience, we had to ask to re-cook it twice, as the noodles were still raw. The duck definitely saved this review from being a 2. I think we will come back another time to give it another shot and to try different entrees on top of the duck. read more

I have been odering from this restaurant for a while now but I've noticed that the food that I usually order has gone down in quality. I used to like the combination lo mein but it tasted different now. It is so dry and very little toppings. The steamed fish is so dry and doesn't taste fresh. Very disappointed. read more

We have been going here for takeout since 2015 when we moved to the area. I called randomly our first week in Bowie, thought it was as good as the good place near us in DC, and stuck with it. They seem to use high quality ingredients and deliver it fast. We have tried most of the others in Bowie at one point or another, and always come back to Golden Pavilion. On average, it is very good. I just wish it was more consistent the last couple of years. 9/10 times the eggrolls are terrific. 1/10 times they are cooked way too long and taste like old oil or they are way too salty. Tonight, the beef stick (the only appetizer my kid likes) arrived basically rare, chewy and inedible, although they have been perfectly velveted and crusted the last 10 times we got it. Recently the crab rangoon, which we always get, was oddly doughy, like the oil was not hot enough - not crispy with little bubbles. We often order it for family get togethers, and people like it a lot, but lately there is always one dish that is way off. Tonight it was the beef sticks, while everything else was very good. If Golden Pavilion could get it together and make it awesome all the time (instead of most of the time), I would tell everyone I know about it. read more

So, for the second time, we received a "noodle" dish via delivery with no noodles from this restaurant. Chicken lo mein came with just chicken, sauce, and onions. Pork chow mein came with pork/sauce/veggies and sprouts. No noodles. This is literally from the "noodle" part of their menu. Very disappointed. We enjoyed the egg rolls, and mu shi. SOOO GOOD!! Was looking for food on Christmas Eve around 830PM and this was the only location that was open (besides the liquor store;0) I ordered the Chicken Lo Mein entree with fried rice. Came with an egg roll and soup (wonton). Crispy noodles and a few fortune cookies were also available. The noodles were sooo good! The Chicken was soooo good, i nearly ate the whole plate in one sitting. Egg roll was delish. I wasn't a fan of the Wonton soup. There is also a liquor bar where bartenders seemed to be making pretty big and delicious drinks. I'm rarely in this area but if i find myself here again, i would def. stop in! read more

This Chinese restaurant is always my go to spot for Singapore rice noodles and spring rolls. The spring rolls are small but crispy and delicious. They are filled with veggies and shrimp. The Singapore rice noodle dish is seasoned well and it always comes out the way that I ordered (chicken, shrimp and beef with added snow peas) even though it usually takes me awhile to explain my specifications. The shrimp are a decent size, and they are not over cooked. This restaurant is more expensive than my other Chinese spot( my usual order comes to about $16), but the place is well kept and the food is pretty good. Why does everything taste so different? The house duck sauce tasted spoiled which pretty much took away an entire star. The sweet n sour sauce was too sour. And the rice tastes like they ordered it precooked. The table we sat at was sticky which makes me worry it wasn't cleaned well. I am so unhappy this place seems to have changed for the worse. Good Chinese restaurants are hard to find and now Golden has been added to that list of mediocre not so great places. Our server was very nice though. read more

The food here is really bad. The shrimp in the shumai tasted off, the dough seemed to be made from wheat rather than rice. I threw them out. The fried rice was so dry you could choke on it. I'm updating this review as I feel it is only fair to note that I eat from this place once or twice a month but since its delivery, I don't bother checking in and now that I think of it, might be a tad bit unfair or misleading. Their carryout service is fast- like on a slower night, from order to door is sometimes within 30 minutes. They aren't exactly in my neighborhood, which is why that's noteworthy. Food is always delivered hot and fresh and the few times we've had a problem, they sent another driver out with the correction seemingly immediately. Placed an order for pork fried rice and a soft shell crab, and was very disappointed with the soft shell crab(which cost $10.50). When I called to voiced my deep disappointed I was told that as an appetizer, the way it is served was fried, cut in four pieces and serve with vegetables, (one stalk of broccoli, one fried onion ring, one fried green pepper and something that looks like one piece of eggplant accompanied by their special sauce. The food was decent, the staff was friendly and efficient and the hot tea wad very tasty. this time there were plenty of vegetables and, of course, the fortune cookies. The website is not updated and has wrong information on it. I'm allergic to shrimp and certain spicy foods. I ordered the spring rolls which typically have veggies in it right? WRONG. These spring rolls had shrimp in it but I had no idea and the website does NOT specify. Also, I ordered the pad Thai and the website said it was not spicy. But it is actually pretty spicy. Now I'm breaking out in hives because it was one thing after another with this food. At least the tempura veggies were good. So I have ordered from this restaurant a couple of times in the past but this was the worst experience so far. I ordered the crab Rangoon, wonton soup, volcano salmon roll and ginger salad. Because of the pandemic I had the order be delivered and when the food came it was missing the crab Rangoon. So I called in to let them know and they told us that we could wait for the order to be delivered after the deliverer came back or we could get the credit. I told them we would wait because I had paid cash but I wanted it to still be hot when it delivered. So when it had been delivered it was not hot AND my dressing for the ginger had to be expired. It had this sizzling noise before I opened it and when I did the top popped off and some of the dressing flew out too. Point blank is don't order from here customer service was horrible when we called back and I could've gotten sick if I ate that dressing. read more

As a LONG time customer of this neighborhood restaurant I was a slightly disheartened when it closed for much needed renovations and updating. It was good to see the grand reopening under the new name of GOLDEN PAVILION ASIAN BISTRO!!!! This is my elderly mother's favorite place, so much so that in my opinion she has single handedly helped them finance this grand reopening with all the take out orders(just kidding). I took her in to order food this past week. She ordered from the newly streamlined menu a dish made with shrimp and scallops. Basic, no big deal... I noticed on the menu that they now carry brown rice and I could get said rice as a combination fried rice (shrimp, chicken, beef). JOY! with me and the rest of America trying to incorporate healthier (or somewhat healthier) alternatives into their lives, I chose the lesser of two evils. On the menu it clearly and fairly states that brown rice (clearly a more special rice, because it is a short grain with the husk/fiberous outer layer attached to it) takes more time to cook that there's an additional $2 charge. Here's where I have a serious issue. When I asked, "is this actual brown rice OR is it white rice with soy sauce on it made to look brown", the waitress tells me, "NO NO, this rice is made early and put in a separate cooker and we make it to order". Great! I'll have that, always trying to get more fiber in my diet. When my order comes to the table, it looks like... like... WHITE RICE WITH SOY AND OYSTER SAUCE! I'm aggravated, I have to take my time to calm down, because when I ask someone about a dish, I don't expect to be lied to... I ask for one of the new manager's, and she gives me this dumbfounded look with the additionally dumbfounded explanation about white rice and brown rice. Now, being that I'm not a RICE connoisseur... there could be LONG GRAIN brown rice, it just wasn't on my plate. As not to upset my mother who hates confrontation, I tabled my anger, and paid for my meal. I'm giving this 1 star because I haven't figured out how to do a half, and because my mother enjoyed her meal. I will NOT be patronizing this restaurant any time soon.
