    Fried Chicken Ramen
    Rae M.

I heard a new ramen restaurant landed in Bowie, so I knew I needed to check it out. Located in Hilltop Plaza, directly next door to the My Eye Dr office, sits the newly open Sakura Express. Sakura Express specializes in various types of ramen and hibachi entrees. You can either dine in, or do take out. Online ordering is also available. I decided to order my food online and take-out. Upon arrival, I noticed how clean and brand spanking new the establishment is. The customer service was very friendly and helpful. I also noticed a cute water dispenser filled with water, lemons and limes at the condiment station. When I got home I tried the vegetarian ramen. It was tasty, but it didn't blow me. I also purchased the fried chicken ramen (the correct name escapes me) but it was pretty good also. I didn't like that the fried chicken got soggy, due to the broth. Between the two, I liked the broth in the fried chicken ramen better. It's a pretty okay place to try, but I don't foresee me becoming a regular.

I like this location as there's Free Miso Soup! Very good along with affordable prices of Ramen, Sushi, and Hibachi; the third I have not tried from the Bowie, MD location yet. The people are nice and very fun to interact with, hard-working. The decorations are really nice and the wallpapers fit quite well with Sakura flowers displaying. I will be coming back, especially for that good tasting free miso soup!

We decided to try this place because of the Uber Eats discount, but that was a huge mistake. The flavor of the food is fine, but the portions are small for the cost. The fried rice was mushy, and broccoli, lima beans, corn, and potatoes is a WILD veggie selection for hibachi. Never again. I'll stick to the Sakura in Kettering.

Empty 8 Piece Fried Chicken Dumpling

Place was clean, service was friendly and fast and they give you complementary miso soup while you wait. Unfortunately the food was very bland. I had the salmon hibachi with fried rice and the rice had no seasoning and was made with lima beans and corn. Not your tradition fried rice. Also had the 8pc chicken fried dumpling and every single one was completely hallow. Basically was just eating fried wonton wrappers

This was, by far, the worst experience I have ever had at a local restaurant…read more My neighbors and I decided to celebrate a birthday at this neighborhood Chinese restaurant. We ordered the Human Delight and specifically requested that it be prepared without any spicy sauce, as two of us cannot tolerate spicy food. When the food arrived, each of us served ourselves and immediately realized the dish was spicy. We called the waiter, who acknowledged that he had entered the order correctly as non-spicy. He took all of our plates, along with the entire entrée, back to the kitchen. When the replacement arrived, we immediately noticed it was served on a much smaller platter and contained no shrimp or scallops, even though those are standard ingredients in Human Delight. We asked the waiter why the dish was smaller and missing key ingredients. Instead of addressing our concern, he appeared annoyed and asked, "What do you want me to do?" We simply asked for the dish we had originally ordered and paid for: Human Delight with shrimp, scallops, beef, chicken, and pork, prepared without the spicy sauce. The waiter then called the manager. The manager identified himself as the cook and stated that he would not add more shrimp or scallops. We explained that we had not eaten the original dish because it was prepared incorrectly and that the entire entrée had been taken back to the kitchen along with our plates. Instead of apologizing and correcting the mistake, he said he needed to inspect the returned plates. After doing so, he claimed he had found only "half a shrimp" on one plate--something that was simply untrue. Eventually, he brought out a third version of the dish. Although it was still noticeably smaller than the original portion, he said he had added "three shrimp and three scallops" this time although he could not account for the rest after checking our plates. We are three women in our 60s and 70s, and we were shocked by how we were treated. Rather than apologizing for serving the wrong order, the staff questioned our honesty and acted as though we were trying to get something we had not asked for. The way this situation was handled was unprofessional, disrespectful, and unacceptable. We left feeling insulted rather than valued as customers. We will not be returning, and we cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good customer service or food.

Let's set expectations: this isn't a fancy place, and it isn't trying to be. You walk in and…read morethere's a counter with a glass partition, and behind it -- ducks, chickens, whole cuts of pork, all the roasted meats hanging right there. That's the whole vibe, and for a spot like this, that's exactly what I want. If keeping things simple is how they keep prices reasonable, that's a trade I'll take every time. I'm here for the food. Came with my family yesterday after the internet spent months nagging me to try it. We got har gow, chicken feet, BBQ pork steamed buns, and the shrimp crepe rolls , plus the roasted meat platter with roast duck, crispy pork belly, and a honey-glazed BBQ that tastes like the five-spice you'd get on ribs. It was outstanding. The duck had real depth of flavor, the skin was perfectly crisp, and the meat was juicy and not the slightest bit dry. It comes sliced, and they'd taken out a lot of the bones, so it was easy to eat without working around anything. And the crispy pork belly was *genuinely* crisp , no sad chewy patches, no negotiating with it. Just a shattering top, tender underneath, all the way across. Nothing was overcooked, nothing was sloppy, everything seasoned like someone back there cared. Now the math. I usually go to Far East, which does have dim sum and which I do like , but they're only open Wednesday through the weekend now. Corner Bites is open all the time, which is how we ended up here in the first place. And once I was here, I pulled up Far East's menu to compare: every dim sum order at Corner Bites is about fifty cents cheaper, with bigger portions. That's not a rounding error, that's a pattern. They also do Peking duck, half or whole, and it's roughly $20-30 less than Peking Gourmet out by Seven Corners, the one everybody makes the pilgrimage to. Somebody near me ordered it and the staff talked it up. I didn't get it this time, but I'm coming back for it, because I would rather drive to Rockville than fight Northern Virginia traffic for a duck that costs thirty dollars more. Great food, fair prices, zero pretense. I'll be back.

So, he requested we visit again for an early Father's Day dinner. The food is plentiful, enough to share around the table. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food except my niece that ordered the crab meat fried rice There sprinkles of "crab meat" in the rice but flavorless!! She still didn't like it after adding soy sauce I had the pineapple shrimp, it had 4 shrimps and a few chunks of pineapple but it was seasoned well....the one at Bahamas Breeze is much better though. The decor is very nice! Love the different seating options and decor. The customer service is not the best, everyone seems to always be rushing you and then no one checked to make sure we had silverware, napkins, nor needed refills on our beverages (which are always flat). They're not overly priced, so that's a plus, and they offer an unlimited tasting options and daily happy hour on appetizers and alcoholic beverages. We'd definitely go back but they should partner with Chick-fil-a for some customer service training!!
