I have had Golden Phoenix over a dozen times. It is my bosses favorite Chinese food, but I don't find it to be anything special. He loves their ribs, soups, spring rolls, lo mein, chicken dishes, etc. I have tried most all of them and find them to be subpar compared to other nearby Chinese joints. This place serves steaming piles of hot garbage. It's typical hacked out Chinese food served with day old rice. Plus they are jerks.

Was not overly impressed. Sesame steak was hard to eat. Soup was ok and bourbon chicken was just ok also.

The food is delicious! I'm partial to the Mein Fun. The employees are pretty friendly. They always hook it up. I was short a few cents for an egg roll once and the dude totally took care of me. Service like that makes a huge difference. Bonus: Their rice is good and not hard like at other places and the portions will most definitely leave you with leftovers for second dinner. I tried this place today after prospecting the area for a good Chinese restaurant. I love Chinese food. I received the food quickly (probably less than 10 minutes), but sadly, this place was very disappointing in terms of Food quality. I ordered the Honey Garlic Chicken Dinner combination, Came with Pork Fried Rice, Wonton Soup, egg roll and the main dish of Honey Garlic Chicken. The Chicken was well over cooked (Considering that this is the same chicken used for Sweet and Sour chicken, you have an idea of how the texture should be. It was over-fried and was an unpleasant crispy. This was also the case with the egg roll. It was overly greasy and there was a small pool of grease at the bottom of the egg roll's pouch. The pork fried rice was was also over cooked. It's possible that the cooking grease was dirty at the time I went, so all the items just came out terribly. The wonton soup was the only good item. The broth was thin, as it should be and there were a total of 4 wontons. Definitely more than I usually receive in a small wonton soup (Normally 2). Overall, I will look elsewhere for my Chinese food. Unless I feel like Soup. Pro: Fast Service and Good Soup. Con: Greasy egg rolls. Small portions. Rice was overcooked. read more

I would give no stars if I was able too. I ordered Shrimp w vegetables and Kun pao chicken. Came home to find 2 chicken orders and when I called them they had no clue what I was saying or pretend not to understand a complaint in English. I'm a little upset because when my boyfriend and I found this place we were very happy good Chinese food and reasonable price. The first time we ordered my boyfriend told me he found a piece of hair in his food... we decided to try again and once again there was a hair in his food and tonight we were very hungry and decided to yet again try... big mistake... once again there was a hair in our food. We called to complain and the only way they will give us our money back is if I take them the food with the hair in it... sorry but it's 10:30 at night and the restaurant is about 20 minutes from our house. I had a HORRIBLE experience. When I got home our food was not what we thought we were getting and when we called back to talk I was yelled at by the women the same thing for 3 straight minutes and were not helped at all. This was the worst Chinese Food I have ever had the misfortune to purchase. The overall appearance of the establishment was very generic looking. Even the pictures looked like stock photos available online. But who cares what the place looks like it's a Chinese takeout it's about the food. I'm going to break it down for you. The hot and sour soup kept getting stuck in my throat and the complimentary fried noodles where so stale I could fold they without snapping. The vegetable fried rice tasted overly greasy and at least 3 days old (just reheated). The sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and reminded me of zepolis(Italian fried dough) with small dried chicken pieces in the batter like center. Even the fortune cookies didn't have fortunes in them. None of this is an exaggeration I will not be returning to the Golden Phoenix even if it rises up from its chard ashes. read more

I'm a big guy and it would take me at least 2 days to put down a dinner combo meal (even at my hungriest). Flavor is still there, just wish I knew about the changes before I ordered. I get the sweet and sour chicken dinner or lunch special with honey garlic sauce on the side. I've eaten here about 10 times and they've never disappointed. Their egg rolls are good. The food is bountiful, the people are nice, the packaging is a step up from other Chinese take-out places, and the prices are fair. I think Golden Phoenix is a godsend, personally. read more

Tried this place when I first moved to Boynton Beach. It is next to my local Publix. I was checking out the menu board when I overheard the customer in front of me talking to the owner about the Singapore Cho Mei Fun. I had never heard of it, but the guy was saying he got it a couple times a week. So I ordered it on a whim, and WOW what a dish. Took one home to my wife and now that is all she will order. This place isn't across the board good, it's just a take out joint. But the service is very friendly, the owner learns his regulars very quickly, and I know of no place else that can serve the Singapore. Give it a try, it's worth it. read more

I think everyone needs to be realistic with their expectations. This is Chinese (really American Chinese) takeout; if you're expecting some mind blowing authentic cuisine, this is not for you. But if you're looking for cheap, filling, tasty Chinese takeout then this is the place for you. The prices are reasonable, there are lots of tofu and other vegetarian options, and the people who work there are reasonably friendly. The best I can say about this place is "meh." It was on the way home and I was starving, so I figured I'd try it. I had the egg drop soup, the veggie lo mein, and steamed dumplings. The only thing I'd consider getting again would be the steamed dumplings, even though they weren't anything special and the dipping sauce was really sweet. The major downside was the lack of flavor in the rest of the food: the egg drop soup was really thick and bland, and lo mein was also bland and overlooked. Unfortunately neither were worth finishing, which was disappointing because the meal cost me $17. I may try this place one more time since it's so close to home and try a chicken dish or a cheap combo platter. But I'm less than excited to say the least. read more

It's Not Real Meat Folks. I ordered the Moo Shu pork and chicken. There were little fingerlets of what looks like meat, but if you look closely and touch them, you'll notice that they are spongy and all look mass produced. And indeed, they are. We ordered takeout from here for the first time because the little Chinese place nearer our house has closed. We wanted to see the place before we ordered so we went there instead of phoning. Small, but clean and well-lit. That was a good start and it just got better from there. Super nice lady took our order and from the counter it's easy to see into the kitchen. It was very tidy, organized, and clean. We ordered the Family Special with extra egg rolls, total $33. It came with a quart of soup, 3 egg rolls, and a quart of pork fried rice, plus 3 entrees. We got the pork lo mein, chicken and broccoli, and bourbon chicken. Everything was fresh and delicious. Our favorite was the bourbon chicken, which we hadn't tried before. The rice was fresh, fluffy, and tasty and the lo mein noodles were fresh and yummy. There wasn't anything about this meal that wasn't perfect. We've found our new favorite Chinese takeout. read more

This is one of the "better" Chinese places in the area. I hadn't gotten take out in a while since I no longer live near them. I stopped in last night since I was in the area. The food was decent but the salt level was very high (especially the moo goo gai pan). I hadn't had that issue before. I am still guzzling water today. If I could give this negative stars I would. I am new to the area and ordered my roommate and I some food for dinner tonight. The order was wrong, and I had already waited an hour for it. When I called to ask them to correct the order they told me that they only had one driver so it would take another half an hour and they refused to refund just the part of the order that was Incorrect. The jerk on the phone continuously put me on hold while taking orders in the background and told me they would send a driver back to pick up my order (without refunding mind you) but couldn't get one here fast enough to just bring the part of the order that was wrong. Also, the jerk on the continuously belittled me on the phone, and told me I could "do whatever I wanted about it" I'm extremely disgusted with the way I was treated.
