Kung Food - West Palm Beach, FL Hands down one of the best takeout experiences I've had in West Palm! Rolled in on a bustling Friday evening, placed my order for the General Tso's meal, and was blown away from the moment I opened the bag. First off, the portion size is insane--we're talking a mountain of perfectly crispy chicken coated in that glossy, sweet-and-spicy sauce that hits every taste bud just right. Paired with fluffy steamed rice and a side of fresh veggies that actually tasted fresh (not the usual soggy takeout fare). Everything was piping hot, made-to-order, and clearly prepared with care. Let's talk value--the price is an absolute steal for the amount of food you get. I left feeling like I robbed the place (in the best way possible). The restaurant itself was immaculate--spotless counters, organized pickup area, and a kitchen you could see was running like a well-oiled machine. Staff was friendly, efficient, and had my order ready in under 10 minutes even with a full house. Kung Food isn't just good Chinese takeout--it's destination-worthy. Already told my friends, and I'll be back next week (maybe twice). If you're in West Palm and craving bold flavors, huge portions, and a clean spot that delivers every time, this is your spot. 5/5 -- Can't recommend enough!

TLDR: the food is 5 star! But there's no decor/ambiance. And as other reviewers have said, it's plastic ware and takeout containers even if you eat in. We would not have found this restaurant in a nondescript shopping strip had it not been for Yelp reviewers. We don't live in the neighborhood and although it's not far away, it's not an area we would have normally gone. But saying that, I'm sure glad we finally tried them. I'd read a review way back and bookmarked it "to try" but never got around to doing so. After a busy week of dining out and a big dinner coming up that evening, I was looking for a little something to tide me over. I knew I'd probably get some soup and an appetizer. And that's what I ordered -- wonton soup and 2 egg rolls. My husband got their vegetable ramen soup. We noticed they were doing a lot of takeout orders. However, there are a lot more tables inside than I'd thought based on the reviews. And a few others were dining inside when we were there. The people where you order and pay could't have been nicer. They brought our food to us where we were seated. You help yourself to plastic ware and packets of various sauces. Bot out soups came out steaming hot! My wonton was in a 2 pint plastic container. There were scallions and pork strips along with the wontons -- all in a very tasty chicken broth. I ate half there and took the rest home. The egg rolls were the traditional kind and nice and crispy. And I liked the crunchy filling. I was planning on eating one and taking one gone but wound up eating both of them. My husband's ramen was delivered in a very large china bowl. It has broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, carrots, and scallions. And the ramen noodles, as well. It was in a spicy miso base. He said it was actually a bit spicy as mentioned but not overpowering. He loved it. He also took some of his soup home. They have several combo meals that are very well priced. In addition to ramen, they also have pho. And all the usual traditional American Chinese dishes. We will certainly be back now that we've tried them.

Sign still says Fon Lee, but is supposed to change soon.

Taking my own advice and getting take out. If you want to experience China on Gun Club Rd, try this. I haven't been yo China, but I'm guessing the decor and atmosphere is pretty spot on. The food was good last time. Hoping for the best. More to come!

Im not a big fan of American Chinese food but I do get an itch for it once in a while especially when I come across a take out restaurant with nearly a 5 star rating, I'm going. The reviews don't lie, the people running this restaurant are taking "take out" to another level. I do believe mostly everything is made in house and cooked to order, you can really taste the difference. We ordered almost every chicken dish and they were all fantastic, with very little batter/breading. The lo-mein was delicious but the fried rice was the winner, you can taste the sear of the wok. Honestly can't go wrong with the crab ragoons and eggs rolls either. Everything was affordable and the lady behind the counter was friendly, helpful, and you can tell she's proud of the food. The restaurant does have plenty of seating if you want to eat there but it was abit warm for my liking. This is a no frills place, traditional take out items and more, but to a higher standard and at about the same price point. Highly recommended and will be back to try the Pho.

A group of 8 of us went for dinner at Kung Food as we heard the food was good. For the most part it was. And the service was excellent. But if you're looking for ambiance, you won't find it here. Kung Food seems to be oriented toward take-out. Although the restaurant can accommodate dining in, the seating is limited and not particularly inviting. Even the usual condiments such as soy sauce, spicy mustard and duck sauce are served in little take-out packages. When we arrived, the air conditioning wasn't working, so the restaurant employees moved some tables out front for us. This worked out okay except for the flies which descended upon the food en masse as soon as it was served. (Obviously not the restaurant's fault. Welcome to summer in FL) The food is very inexpensive and cooked to order, which is good. The downside is that some people in our group waited a long time for their food while others quickly received theirs. And for many of the entrees, the chicken is fried. Most people ordered the combo meals which consisted of one or two entrees from a choice of 7 - 10 mostly chicken dishes along with a choice of white rice, fried rice or lo mein noodles. The large combo meal is only $1 more than the medium combo and the primary difference is portion size. The portions were generous and most people in our group took some home. The food was generally flavorful although the chicken fried rice which I had (not part of a combo meal) was quite dry. I "borrowed" some General Tso's sauce from my husband's combo to give some much-needed moisture to my fried rice. A few people in our group ordered egg rolls and a couple ordered wonton soup. Both items were delicious and consisted of nice-sized portions. Unlike most Chinese restaurants. King Food does not offer any soup, egg rolls, ice cream or even fortune cookies with its combo meals. The price is surprisingly low, so if you want these items, especially the soup or an egg roll, just order them separately. The server was very accommodating and handled all of our requests with a smile and a cheerful attitude. Bottom line: Kung Food offers generally good, but not fancy, Chinese food at a great price. Go for the combo meals and plan on take-out rather than dine-in.

This was my first time trying this while I was in the area and it was a great experience. The food was so delicious and the host, Quiny, was the sweetest lady ever! The broth from the ramen was so tasty! I will definitely be ordering this next time! We waited about 20 minutes for our dinner but it was worth it. The dining area is small but it wasn't very busy so we were able to find seats. There were a good amount of pick up orders though.

Oh my god I am licking my fingers as I type this review! If you're reading this & thinking about eating here GO NOW!!!!! I moved to Florida from NYC & haven't found consistent decent Chinese so one night I was in the mood for Chinese & saw this place & it had some good reviews so I decided to try it. I pulled up to the restaurant & it was PACKED so that's a good sign & it was clean. I ordered & the wait was a little but after getting my food it was worth it! The egg roll was crispy & fresh. The wings were fried to perfection& the fried rice was full of flavor & lots of shrimp ! The food was so good that I went back the next day & the food was DELICIOUS AGAIN!!! 1000000/10!!!!!!

Was house sitting tonight and just randomly looking for some Chinese food. We were hungry. We were willing to take what we got. 3 words, DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS, DELICIOUS! We loved it! They even had Pad Thai. And normally places sprinkle the shrimp and you're searching for them but the shrimp, although not the biggest, were abundant. Every bite was super tasty and they deliver! We were very thoroughly happy. I truly feel some of the best Chinese food we've had for sure.

I ordered their shrimp pad Thai bento box. It came with soup or salad. I chose the miso soup as I'm not a fan of mixed greens. The soup was okay. In the bento box was a fried vegetable roll, a four piece California roll, the pad Thai, and two orange slices. The California roll was very good. Expertly and tightly rolled. I didn't care for the fried veggie roll. However, the shrimp pad Thai was wonderful. A half dozen large shrimp with rice noodles, bean sprouts, scallions, eggs -- all in a slightly sweet pad Thai sauce. And there was a lot of pad Thai packed into the section of the box. My husband got their sashimi lunch special. There were three types of raw fish -- salmon, tuna, and a white fish. Each fish had three fat slices. The meal came with a mixed greens salad. Along with a California roll, and that fried veggie roll. He liked it, "nice and fresh", he said. Although a bit out of the way for us, we felt the food was worth a drive. On the way out, we even got to meet the owner who told us that their menu is available on line.

The yamazaki swinger was very watered down and we barely tasted the whiskey. The Lua Pele Scorpion bowl wasn't much of a show and while the drink did taste good, it was mostly filled with decorations. It's supposed to serve 2-4 people but after we took all the decorations out and poured the drink into a cup, it was barely a full cup. The vegetables were mainly cabbage and there were a couple pieces of chicken in it. The light broth, however, was good with little bits of fried garlic in it. For a split second, I thought maybe the place had been rented out for a private party we weren't invited to. But, trusting the good reviews, we decided to stay and risk it. Worst case? We'd get our food before the menus even hit the table. We started with the curry puffs--crispy, warm, nicely seasoned. Solid little bites, though not exactly the type of appetizer you dream about later like an old high school crush. My salad with peanut dressing followed, but the dressing was more watery than I'd like. Tasty, yes, but I like my peanut dressing to hug the lettuce, not run away from it. And then--boom--the Penang curry chicken arrived and stole the spotlight. This was the real deal. The flavors were rich and balanced, with that "made from scratch" depth you can't fake. I asked for mine spicy and they nailed it--just the right amount of heat to make me sweat a little but still want to keep eating. And, I like it hot! Mission accomplished without losing flavor!! My wife went mild, and hers looked like it had been painted in softer pastels while mine was done in neon flames. Same dish, two totally different personalities. The owner came by to chat, and she was a delight. Turns out they grow their own peppers and make all their curries from scratch. Suddenly, it all made sense--the freshness, the layered flavors, the fact that my taste buds felt like they were on a guided tour of Thailand instead of eating reheated sauce from a jar. So yes, the restaurant was empty when we walked in. But this isn't a ghost town--it's a hidden gem. A 30 years in business hidden gem. Next time, I'm bringing more people along, partly for the company and partly so I don't feel like I accidentally booked a private dining experience.
