I especially love that they offer kids' meals that are perfectly sized for little appetites--and they come with a drink. Not just any drink, either, but a good old Faygo. Redpop is usually my go-to, though it's hit-or-miss if you'll catch one in the cooler. Peach is also a great alternative. The fried okra is delicious and comes in a shareable portion... though I rarely share. Just ask em to fry it hard and OMG!!! Chef's kiss! I add a little lemon pepper cuz I like the spicy tang. Completely optional. Service is kind and quick. For the fastest turnaround, call ahead since chicken takes time to cook. Online ordering never works for me, but maybe you'll have better luck. There are booths inside but I prefer to take it home. I've never eaten there but I could. The chicken is served with both hot sauce and mild sauce... think of mild sauce as BBQ sauce's Chicago cousin on its momma's side. It's the only way to eat Chicago-style fried chicken. I've had this place bookmarked for awhile so I was excited to finally try it one Sunday evening for dinner. Went inside to look and menu...decided on 5 fish and 5 wings Family Combo. Was told about 15 minutes for cooking. No problem. Fish and chicken were fried and seasoned to perfection. Very tasty. There are signs up about an increase in chicken pricing due to the shortage. I ordered 5 wing 5 fish combo, perch for the fish, and this would be 20 minutes before I could pick up, which is about normal. I arrived to pick up my order 25 minutes later, and it was ready. It was accurate and hot, yay! The fish was a little overcooked with more breaded coating that I prefer, but tasty for late munchies. Chicken was tasty again, a bit more breading than I preferred. There's a lot of fish/chicken/gyro places in Indy. Goldens is better than ANY of the others I've tried. Most definitely the ones the start with "J". The food seems fresh, well seasoned, and is good! Service there has always been. The ambience isn't anything special, but serves the purpose of you'd like to dine in. This place has come to the rescue a few times when literally everything else is closed. I don't live in this neighborhood anymore but come back every once in a while. Last night a friend and I ordered. I had a gyro salad with extra tzatziki and a side of pita bread. My friend had a Philly steak and fries. We also ordered mozzarella sticks. My salad was big and delicious. The gyro meat was hot and had great flavor. Also they are not stingy with tzatziki. I stole a few fries from my friend and they were hot and crispy as usual. The best! We always call ahead to place a pick up order and they never take longer than 20-30 mins. Even when i've had to wait in the store for my food to finish up, it's usually less than 5 mins of waiting. They add that lemon pepper on top of EVERYTHING and it's so good! Lemon pepper on fries?? Something is wrong. Ever since Covid hit the quality of their chicken wings have gone downhill. They are extremely dry and lack the flavor they once had. I understand why pricing has gone up but paying good money for dry wings is a problem. They had a good run but now they are just another Jordan's with a different name. If they had 10 stars I would give it! I had a good size catering order on the 3rd of July that was phenomenal...hands down best Chicago style chicken around...and they had it ready on time! What?!?!! For those who love to host but don't want to cook everything...there is a known stress that comes with planning and timing food for pickup. You know having everything go as planned a 1/2 hour before 'go time' is virtually unheard of...the fact that they were so helpful and made sure every was correct for us really goes a long way. We're just in town for a lacrosse game, but I'm glad we were able to stumble across Golden's! The location is small, but it was bright, clean, and most importantly the food was delicious. The person who took our order was super friendly and helpful, and you can see your food being cooked from where you're sitting, which really raises confidence in the quality of the chicken tenders and wings. All of the orders were large, and they added fries and drinks for free despite us coming in after the end of the lunch special. The gyro I ordered was delicious, and the people I were with said the tenders and wings were delicious as well. I would 100% recommend to anyone who likes delicious, hot, reasonably priced food from a friendly staff. I found this restaurant on DoorDash and decided to try something new. I was not disappointed! The lunch specials are awesome and their tenders are seasoned so well. They have this red sweet sauce that you will crave after you have it. Plus, the gentlemen that work there are always so nice every time I come in!
