The AYCE skewer concept at this place was really great. They have a room where you grab all the skewers buffet style with some sides and some other cooked items. There were some items where you had to order from the menu. The menu was just a bit confusing because most of the items on there were available to grab yourself and was not differentiated from items you have to order with the waiter. I love how the grill is setup. It automatically rotates the skewers so you don't have to. Underneath, you can grill meats yourself or you can choose to have half the grill rotating skewers and the other half self-grilling. This place honestly could have been a 5 star, but there were some things that could have been better. This place has a time limit like most AYCE places. We normally don't meet the limit at most places, but they took a while to replenish the buffet. There were times we were waiting for the items we wanted and we weren't able to order it off of the menu to be delivered to our table. Other than that, it would have been great. Great variety and decent quality for what you pay.

I am a big fan of chinese skewers so I visited Golden Time BBQ. The value and quality is there but the flavor and grill could be better. The eggplant was not very garlicky or tasty. Additionally there is some opportunity for their buffet side dishes and cold dish areas. Our grill gave us some challenges, there were sections on it that just did not cook the food, we had to move and it was not much better at the second table. The booths seating makes it hard if you have a bigger group because you can only get in and out from one side (challenging considering it is a buffet where you get your own skewers). I would recommend the made to order skewers, the lamb was the best there. The chicken knee and beef skewers from the fridge were good too. Watch out for the marshmallows because they are massive haha The restaurant is designed like a bar, cool lights and firey displays. I would suggest adding unlimited beer or soju option for an additional price.

AYCE meat on a stick!!!! Love this place. It is definitely something different than your normal bbq. A must try in Chinatown.

I was in a party of 8 people for a birthday dinner and we were split into two tables. Our waitress doesn't speak English very well but she was nice. It was our first time here and she explained to us how this works. There is a smaller menu that we must order though her, otherwise most of the side dishes were self served in another room. She also let me know the owner said that their lamb is from New Zealand. This place was all you can eat, and there was plenty of options. Unfortunately, they don't restock as quick as I would like them to and the self-serving room. In the self saving room there were hot side dishes, and cold side dishes. All the skewers were in the refrigerator and these are all raw. You put the skewers on the middle of the table where there is a grill. Let them rotate until they're ready to eat. There's also a wire net underneath if you want to put anything on the grill directly or if your skewer item falls down instead. This was a nice experience but I would really like them to restock their skewers in the self serving room better. The one I really wanted to try wasn't restocked while we were there. Things I'll try again are the honey beef , seafood item, lambs (any cut), fried shrimp(warm side dish), giant lamb (order via waitress), corn cheese. Lastly, there's free parking lot outside.

Houston finally has a super affordable AYCE grilled skewer spot! For only $29.99, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat skewers, making it such a fun concept for a group dinner or a casual night out. Everything is grilled fresh right at the table, and there's a great variety to choose from

We all put a few of our skewers on, and it cooks in approx.6 min.

We decided to try and loved the whole experience! Our waitress explained everything, answered all questions, and was super patient. We tried so many items and loved them all! Definitely a fun experience and yummy dinner!

Went on New Year's for dinner. This restaurant is busy busy busy. It took about an hour wait for a party of 5. Service is a little slow because they are pretty understaffed but once things got moving, it was great. It's a busy place and right now, everything has Nezha decorations. You can order a pretty wide variety of meat items, ranging from skewers or grilled pieces. The skewers are a fun, new way to do BBQ but it also offers some more traditional routes. You can get lamb, beef, pork, chicken, bread (!), veggies, etc. They had a mix of other side dishes as well that were good, such as the pickled radish, grilled garlic eggplant, and corn cheese. It's a bit hard to determine how much food you should order and once it comes out, none of it is really labeled, so it's a bit of a guess for the meats that look similar to each other. Rotating skewers also cook much slower than just straight up grilling it, so I feel like you don't eat as much because it's just a slower process. But that's okay, you still leave feeling pretty stuffed, but not disgustingly so. The meat was good though! Chinese sauces included garlic sauce, cumin powder, and chili powder, which are not my favorite flavors, but was something unique and different compared to your usual KBBQ fare. We ended the night with roasted marshmallows, which were great and came in an original and strawberry flavor. Overall, for the price, it's a pretty fun and inexpensive experience! Come when you're feeling hungry and when you're wanting something a little different than the usual flavors of other AYCEs. Will definitely be back!

I ABSOLUTELY loved the place, the concept, the food and the service. I got the buffet and it was absolutely worth it. Short rib and lamb skewers were delicious, spicy beef slices were amazing too, the chicken soup, egg plant, and to my surprise the simple and so delicious banana dessert! It's my new favorite spot for all you can eat bbq for sure! Service was amazing by Williams as well!

Solid ayce Chinese skewers place in Houston... come here to get your grilled protein fix! The meats were all tasty, and the grilling to your desired cooking all left us with full bellies. Bonus, they are open super late.

Well, that was...okay! Pretty full restaurant for an early Sunday dinner around 5:30~ Fun concept but it's so slow.. not the fault of the servers..I don't think? I feel like they'd do better if they had tablets installed at each table so you could order as you go. Once you get your first round of things to cook, it does move a bit quicker. We tried to order a bunch each time we ordered because there's not a rhyme or reason on how things came out The concept is unique here, but also wasn't explained really as I told him it was our first time. Some things come cooked, some things are raw, no differentiating on the menu lol. When you order, you tell them how many of each item you want, most cuts on each skewer are pretty small so keep that in mind when you're ordering. If you order any of top row on that meats section, you cook it on the grill, doesn't come in skewers. We missed quite a few dishes, just lost in the kitchen or whatever. I'm sure they're having to manage a lot. The garlic sauce on the table was yummy, you put all your used skewers into a bucket, the atmosphere is fun. I don't know if I'd go back any time soon but cool to experience.

Yay another Chinese skewer restaurant in Chinatown! We have so many Korean bbq restaurants in Houston already so I was happy to see that Golden Time BBQ was serving Chinese bbq. My boyfriend came here a few months ago during their soft opening when they were selling the skewers a la carte. We visited about a week ago and noticed that they've since transitioned to an AYCE format. It's now ~ $32 per person, which is on par with other ayce bbq spots in the area these days. As for the food everything was flavorful and tender. We especially liked their beef items! Service was alright. I would return but would try to come hungrier next time. We both felt like we did not get our money's worth. Each of us ate about 10 skewers each (they used to be under $2 per skewer when it was still a la carte).

TikTok brought me here. $29.99 for AYCE skewers?! Why not, right? They even open until late night. Cute anime decor. Nice bar type vibe. Huge menu. You can order some items through your server, but service was EXTREMELY slow. And, with the time limit of 2 hours, it was not a good idea since we waited forever for our items. I waited the entire time for pork feet, and they never brought out more. They have a frigerated area full of meat/tendon/pork/seafood skewers, a hot area with chicken nuggets/fries, fried rice, stir fry noodles, and peppered items. None of the hot items were good. Tasted old and "stale?" There is a sauce/pickled veggies area and the pork feet tray (which was empty the entire time I was there). Tiny meat skewer portions (because it probably has to be able to rotate on the grill). You can order larger skewers, but like I said it takes FOREVER to come out. Their ramen is pretty much mama noodles + veggies. Cheese corn was good. The entire experience was dampened by the fact that it felt like a sauna in there. Eating and sweating the entire time---and I don't sweat that easily. A couple of us had to go outside in the Houston heat to "cool off." How ironic is that, right? Price was good for what you get, concept was cool, but we probably will have to wait until they can figure out how to make our dining experience better (quicker food turnaround and better ventilation).

Mac & cheese, potato salad, and creamed corn. And both types of puddings! The brisket was so tender and fell apart easily, which also went very well with the spicy bbq sauce. The chopped brisket was tasty too and went great with all the sides and the piece of bread. Everything was so good and to the point, which made it such a comfort food. If I really had to nitpick, I felt the potato in the potato salad was slightly underdone and crunchy, but not a big deal. Mac & cheese hit the spot and wow, the cream corn came out hot and was such a hit! The surprise standout for me was the banana pudding. It was perfectly sweet, delicious, and somehow didn't feel too heavy at all! I'm still craving it and wish I lived closer to this area just so I can swing by anytime. They also have a great assortment of beverages and a cute little souvenir stand. Definitely recommend!

After doing my research and seeing food bloggers post online about this place, I decided to try it! We went on a Saturday afternoon at 2 pm - packed! There were no tables available inside and there were people inside and outside waiting for their orders. That's something to be ready for if you come on a Saturday. Our order didn't actually take that long. Or maybe it took a little while and we didn't mind waiting. Either way, it wasn't that bad! Luckily it's located in a shopping area so there's always parking. My main gripe is that they close at 7pm. I'm sure there's a good reason for that but I've wanted to try it multiple times before but they've been closed! I ended up going with the infamous brisket and fried rice. The brisket was super tender - I was able to pull it apart with my fork. I typically shy away from brisket because usually it's tough. But this was delicious - tender and had a nice smoky flavor. Not overwhelming or too salty. The rice had a great flavor too. There were chunks of meat in that as well and the rice had a nice smoky flavor. Not too salty or greasy. It also came with some accoutrements - pickled onions, fresh pickled cucumbers, jalapeños, bbq sauce and bread. The cucumbers and onions stole the show - very fresh and refreshing. We were surprised at the pickled onions - they were soo good! Overall - worth the hype! I'll definitely be back to try ribs, chicken or pulled pork sandwich. I heard everything is good here!!

My husband and I finally had time to stop by on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't too busy and didn't have to wait long. Brisket with fried rice - 7/10 The Viet style fried rice was great and felt comforting. The brisket was not dry and had a smoky flavor to it, however, we were expecting a more depth of flavor. It was missing that oomph to it. Chicken leg quarter - 8.5/10 It was seasoned well and very moist! Surprisingly, we enjoyed this more than the brisket. House sausage - 8.6/10 What a flavor bomb! The sausage had a great bite to it. Although we felt the brisket was lacking, the fried rice, chicken and sausage made up for it. If we're back in the area, would love to try other items on their menu but probably won't go out of the way for it.

You can ask to see the piece of rib before they cut it for you and they will happily oblige (patrons behind you might not be so thrilled with that move, but they'll live). Sides were excellent as were the mashed potatoes with white gravy on the side, green beans that were just tender enough, but also a bit crunchy. Perfect. They were seasoned with pork, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip it. We also ordered their shareable onion rings, easily enough for three people that were huge, hot, and crispy. Let's get this out of the way, some of their prices are a little up there, but if you're anything like me, and don't frequent BBQ places often, it's a rare but enjoyable treat. Sometimes you have to splurge and live a little. Also, they have their regular sauce on tables, but you now have to ask the cashier for their sublime coffee BBQ sauce. Don't be shy, ask. It's worth it. Oh, pro tip: If you want beef ribs, the 'plate' is actually cheaper and a better deal than 'by the pound', so save a little money and get two sides.

I arrived around 5:35 PM, about 25 minutes before closing, and ordered 1/2 lb of brisket and 1/2 lb of ribs. The brisket was $17, and unfortunately it was extremely greasy and so overcooked that the meat had become mushy. It still had good flavor, but the texture was nothing like the brisket I've normally gotten here. Judging by what I received, it felt like I may have gotten what was left at the end of the day. The ribs were $12, and my "1/2 lb" consisted of two individual ribs. They tasted good, but they weren't nearly as tender as I've had here before. I paid about $29 just for the meat, and for that price I expected much better quality and portioning. I understand that I came close to closing time, but I still paid full price and should receive the same quality of food as any other customer. If the brisket is past its best or there isn't enough left to make a proper order, I'd rather be told that so I can order something else. I'm not writing the place off because they've been good to me many times before. But this particular order was definitely not up to their usual standard, and the pictures speak for themselves.

Visiting from out of town and decided to give this place a try. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I was not sure what I wanted to try, so Sam, the owner, gave me a sampling of everything; brisket sandwich, spare rib, potato, salad, coleslaw, beans, macaroni and cheese, jambalaya rice, and french fries. Everything tasted better than expected, especially the french fries, as few BBQ restaurants are able to get these just right. I will definitely return tomorrow to try something new. Definitely ordering the macaroni and cheese and potato salad again. Special thanks to Sam, the owner, who definitely took care of me. He knew I was from out of town, but treated me like a long time customer, which I greatly appreciate. Give this place a try... You will not be disappointed!

The chicken was so tender and sweet but savory. The brisket was good but better with the barbecue sauce. The greens just tasted like onions. I added salt that helped a little. Also wanna note I don't eat just mustard greens alone , they' re usually mixed so that may be the reason why I personally didn't care for them. The jambalaya rice was spicy but seasoned, definitely loved that. I'd have them again just switch out some things. The establishment packed my bag with everything I needed. Very neat and intentional and I appreciate that when dining out through delivery.

Sides were ok, rice was incredibly well seasoned but the Mac and cheese was a bit underwhelming. I think the only thing would be the cost; quite pricey for barbecue. The environment is super cool, plenty of seating, a bar, private rooms, a dessert bar. I enjoyed the atmosphere, but the workers spoke Spanish to each other the whole time until it was time to check out, so there wasn't much engagement. Which lead to a mix up of my order that we had to fix. What we are all here for, the FOOD: Chicken: Very juicy, tender, basic chicken, a great portion. I was grossed out by the amount of blood under the skin. (I KNOW it's an animal with blood but I've never had bbq with that amount of blood on the meat) but I'm not penalizing them for it. Def 7/10! Brisket: Super tender, melted in the mouth, great taste. 8/10 Green beans: Not greasy, tender (not mushy or undercooked). I think they may have spilled the seasoning into the batch they main because holy moly, a TON of pepper and salt. I'm heavy handed with my seasonings but that amount didn't seem intentional. I'd never thought I'd say this but the flavor would've been great with less seasoning. 5/10 Mac&cheese: Nothing special but definitely better than most bbq spots. I enjoy the texture and light flavor 7/10 Elote: Yummy but where's the beloved cilantro?! 8/10 Cornbread: Great flavor, not dry, and had jalapeno peppers in it! Super yummy 9/10. My only thing too, they had only 2 bbq sauce options, a bourbon coffee and their house bbq. To me, they were not good at all. I was extremely disappointed in that. Other bbq spots have like 8 different bbq sauces
