This morning was my first time at this Resturant and it won't be my last. Awesome food & wonderful service.

So I enjoyed this visit. The french Toast was really good, Eggs were cooked exactly as ordered and my food was served promptly. The server was friendly and attentive and I was greeted when I entered. That said, the staff here are hit and miss. Though this time was very nice, the last time I was here the waitstaff was surly, inattentive, and ignored anyone who didn't look like they spoke spanish. read more

This is one of my father's usual haunts. We went there for an early Father's Day meal. I liked my eggs bennedict and potatoes. I was thrilled that I qualify for the Senior Menu! Even with the smaller senior portion, I was unable to finish my bountiful portion. I would have given a five star, except that two of the three of our meals were delivered WAY before the third. Wow! I am so impressed with this place! I walked in the door, and was greeted right away. My mom and I were each presented with a single rose to celebrate Mother's Day as the hostess put our name on the waiting list. After no more than 10 minutes, we were seated and greeted by our fantastic server. I had the country scramble, my mom had the California omelet, and we split a side of biscuits and gravy. From the first bite, I could tell EVERYTHING was homemade. It was some of the best sausage gravy I've ever had! The server and busser checked on us frequently, and made it a wonderful experience. We've been going to the Golden Waffle Cafe, in Placerville, for years. The food is GREAT; real food, FRESH with great taste and plenty of it. We also love it for it's great owners!! They are awesome, caring, hard working people, ALWAYS with smiles on their faces and a fun-loving energy that energizes all who meet them. We try to go at least once a week and everything we've ordered has been top notch. The WAFFLES are the very BEST I've ever had. They have the right recipe and the toppings are great, too. I have never tried this before after living here for seven years and now I am asking myself, "why not?" Waffle, 2 eggs, and 2 slices of bacon or sausage for $7.95 is on the regular menu and certainly the best breakfast pricing in town. when my brother asked where we should eat, we saw this cute little diner that seemed most promising. what could be better than waffles? service. service could be better than waffles. we arrived to the waffle shop and entered the front door. there was a sign that asked us to wait to be seated. My brother our friend and i waited 5 minutes for a bus boy to see us and look confused as to why we were standing there. all the while two waitresses had walked past us and help numerous customers and ignoring us, even after making eye contact. when we finally got seated, we were once again looked at and passed by, for 10 more minutes until another confused waitress came up and took our orders. 20 minutes later, we were STILL waiting for our food, and a water + a refill on the warm orange juice. during this time two tables were cleaned and resat. the two gentlemen that were sat after us, were greeted warmly and served before us, and even got their food and refills before we got any food. when our food finally arrived(after another 25 minutes), it was good food(thus the star i gave them).My friend and i had the Eggs Benedict, with biscuits and gravy, while my brother had the country omelet with a waffle. but when we finally received our water, it was the size of a shot glass. never once did our waitress come back an ask how our meal was, she didn't show back up till we were all well and done, with all our plates stacked at the edge of the table. she put our bill down said thank you and walked away. when i went to go pay for the bill, two waitresses were there, going over receipts, not one of them looked up and me. i put the bill on the table and money on top of it, and they finally looked up at me. the senior waitress looked to the other and told her to wait and help "thi-- this LADY first.". then the other couldn't figure out the bill. when i finally paid for it, neither of them thanked me or even made eye contact. they just went right back to what they were doing beforehand. so i left and i don't believe we will ever be back. read more

This place is cute - it reminds me of the breakfast spots I used to go to in Tennessee. Small town and nice people... biggest opportunity for growth would be the service. It wasn't horrible, however the server could definitely have been a lot nicer, friendlier, etc. Was easy to grab a place to sit for two, which was nice on a weekend morning when other places had lines out the door. we used to go to carrows as a tradition at the end of every camping trip.. and the last time we attempted to go they were closed :( but we found golden waffles and gave it a try and to my surprise i am very pleased with the food and the service here! Everything was good until my food came. Our server brought me the complete wrong thing and I explained that there must have been a mistake. I hate to get upset with anyone in the service industry so I was trying to be polite but our server was really hostile and upset about this, putting all of the blame on me. I finally got what I wanted and it was good but the whole experience was disappointing. I pleaded for her to let me pay for the extra dish which she didn't so I left a way too big tip of a tip. If you are in this area, I may suggest finding somewhere else to eat. read more

Terrible service unless you 80+ years old. Was pointed to our table and then sat there for 5 minutes before I was even greeted by a waitress. Everybody get coffee refills but us.. until I ask. The only good thing is the food was actually very good. So that being said at the end of it all, our waitress comes back to our table says she will get our check and then forgets about it, 10 minutes later she is at the table next to us taking there order and looks up to realize.... oh s#@t there still here, goes over and puts our check together and sends the bus boy over to give it to us.. I will never go into this place ever again. I had a great server but the rest was crap. I witnessed a guest find a cockroach in their food/drink. I also heard a server let another woman who worked there know that she had to run to the rest room and the woman told her "NO" she couldn't go off the floor. The server said it was a personal female issue & the woman still said "NO" you can't leave the floor. This once up on a time was a great breakfast stop. The last time I went there we ordered 2 omelets, the service was so slow that I read an entire gold panner 2 times before the food arrived. I had a omelet. no big deal I am not that impatient.. I ate the potatoes that come with the omelet first .. they are ok.. Coffee service was great... but my omelet tasted of chemicals and grit, they kind they clean the grill with, The waitress tried to convince me that the grit is simply seasoning.. I know my way around the kitchen and that was just insulting, I am just disgusted and I never send food back so I am just done with them at this point .. so they charge me for the potatoes! A decent sized diner, with plenty character. The establishment houses a quaint cafe style aura, the bar wraps around the open kitchen in the middle of the wall side booths. The service was jovial and attentive, along side rapid replacement of our refreshments, and interesting recommendations to please our palates. The food on the other hand seemed to be lacking, of no fault of the server, but maybe inquire about the size and quality before ordering. Great clean restaurant with booths, counter seating, and tables in large back room. Contrary to previous report on Yelp, the lady of Hispanic descent with hair in a ponytail, was very gracious and efficient. They have a senior menu which included a half order of eggs Benedict. Waffle plate with eggs and bacon was generous portion from the regular menu. We'll stop here again next time on way to Lake Tahoe. read more

In Placerville last weekend for a wedding and had the opportunity to brunch here twice. As other reviewers have noted, the place certainly isn't much to look at. On the first occasion I sat at the counter by myself and ordered the Golden Skillet. Staff was super friendly, attentive and pleasant. The food was perfectly cooked, tasted great, was a generous portion and didn't cost much. On the second occasion I sat in a booth with friends and ordered the California omelette. The dish was quite well presented, cooked perfectly, tasted great, and the portion was perfect for me, costing less than the skillet the previous day. Again, staff was super friendly and paid extra attention to the 2 year old sitting with us. We left a 50% tip in appreciation for the positive experience. read more
