Staying in Bloomington for a few days my boyfriend was not feeling great and we did not want to trawl all the way to MOA just to eat. As far as we could tell the only place within walking distance was a Jimmy Johns sandwich shop, a fast food Mexican place and a restaurant (with not the greatest reviews) and we just really wanted to stay in the room and get something delivered. Research indicated that pizza is pretty much all you can get delivered in Bloomington, then we stumbled on some Yelp reviews of this place (Golden Wok OR 617 Golden Wok). They were exceptionally helpful on the phone, their website makes ordering a breeze too and they had no issues delivering. The food was fantastic, healthy, fresh and tasty. No greasy residual at all as is sometimes common place with Chinese food. The veg were so very fresh and crisp. We ordererd from the Chinese menu (they have a Japanese menu too). Chicken curry, schezuan beef and the diet steamed veg with white rice. It was delivered promptly with plates, utensils and everything a hotel dweller needs. Would definitely order from this place again if we happened to be in Bloomington and recommend the food (quality at low price) to anybody who is local. read more

I was on a project in Bloomington and ordered Golden Wok at least once a week--quick, cheap, and delicious! For one, they're one of the only places (besides pizza) that delivers to the Bloomington area. (There is a minimum order of $16) My standard order was Crab Rangoon, Cream Cheese Wontons, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and soup and it was wonderful every time. The order showed up in a quality manner and the driver even helped me out when I forgot my card in my room by taking the time to call in and give them my card number over the phone! The quality is dependable and they never forgot the utensils or the fortune cookies :) I would definitely recommend it. read more

I've gotten take out twice from Golden Wok. I always like to try a new place at least two times before I make a judgement about the quality of their food. Everyone can have a bad day, right? The first time I ordered pork egg rolls, cream cheese wontons, orange chicken and Mongolian beef. The pork in the egg rolls was an unnatural fuchsia color. They tasted OK, but I couldn't get past the color. I suppose it could have been from cabbage, but it was so bright, I couldn't imagine it being natural. The wontons were excellent. The orange chicken was pretty good. The chicken was cooked nicely, but the sauce was a little bland. The Mongolian beef lacked flavor and was not the least bit spicy. The second time, I ordered chicken egg rolls, cream cheese wontons and orange chicken. The chicken egg rolls were excellent. They had great flavor and no unnatural colors at all. Again the cream cheese wontons were excellent, but I'm convinced every Chinese place can make them just as good. The orange chicken this time was awful. The chicken was tough and overcooked. The sauce was unflavorful. I couldn't even taste any hint of orange in it and it wasn't the least bit spicy. I might try Golden Wok again and try a completely different entree, but then again, I might stick with Leeann Chin. read more

I always order from Golden Wok whenever I crave for Asian food! I love their online ordering system and swift delivery. I went to the place once but I can't say I love the atmosphere/ ambiance, but I definitely love the food. Their generous amount of jumbo shrimps in the seafood dish is for the win. It's a good portion because we get to have leftovers for next meal. The only small thing I would complain is that their fried rice and lo mein is kinda salty. read more

The family and I order delivery from here all the time over the last few years, great alternative to the pizza places! We have never tried anything we don't like! We ordered fairly traditional fair - orange chicken, General Tso chicken, crab puffs. Delivery was quick, food came hot, portions were big, food was really good quality. we asked for diet coke and got regular... but overall good lunch, reasonable price and we have been dying to find a Chinese that delivers to our office. As a regular customer I agree that they are consistently fast and friendly (except when their teenage employee answers the phone simply, "Hello?"- very unprofessional.) Veggies are the best in town. I order there many times. Never had good experience with the cashier on the phone. I had delivery before and the person was a little slow. I called back to know if he left and she gave me an attitude and said something rude and also calls me dude. You don't refer to customers as dude or man or woman or girl. Usually sir,maam, or you. Another time I order inside this place and ask her why has the price changed? Back 4 years ago i could get singapore udon for under 20 dollars with coupon. Just last 2 months ago I could get it for 25 something without coupon and 22 something with coupon. It's only been 2 months and the price was at 29 dollars and they don't give away coupons anymore. From 22 to 29 is a big difference. The price wasn't even the least of my worries though it was that woman. She gave ma an attitude and probably yap something in chinese to the cook so he cooks it for me in less than 5 minutes. Party trays should be cooked longer for better taste,more flavor, and not to get sick. I had to go home put it in the oven longer. What a terrible service. It seems like they treat their customers like crap when the customer just wants to know why. I should have not paid her first. I did ask very politely why the prices changed. I didn't make faces or raise my voice even a slight bit. read more

We've ordered from these guys for over a year now a few times a month when we celebrate big events in our lives but this? This is inexcusable. Our egg foo young was cold and they didn't even give us the gravy it came with. We called and tried to be nice until the chic working there started giving us attitude like we were the dirt on her white shoes THEN, they proceeded to tell us they couldn't do anything which is stupid. I've worked for the food industry for over 5 years in my earlier years and there is always something you can do. I'm not deterring anyone but just putting my experience out there. I have ordered twice from this location in store. 1st time everything was fine, food tasted okay at best. Greasy lo mein, old soggy chicken with far more breading than meat, fried rice overcooked and mushy. They had also forgotten an entire container of chicken in our to-go order, so we had to drive back 15 minutes to pick it up once discovering its absense at home. Having worked in the food industry, I'd at the very least put in a coupon if we'd forgotten part of someone's order. Unfortunately there was nothing more than a "sorry about that". Sure, we could have torn open the stapled brown bag right there in the restaurant to check if all our food was present, but this has always seemed rather rude to me when the servers and cooks can watch everything. It's also their responsibility to ensure every piece of your order is accounted for before handing it to you. Somehow, we decided to try once more, hoping at a busier time of day maybe food would be more fresh. 2nd time, earlier this week, resulted in food poisoning. All I ordered was vegetable mei fun noodles but they tasted off, and after only a few bites I threw out the remainder. I've been sick for 3 days straight. It's good food. We always order for delivery so we've never been in the restaurant. I like to try new things each time, and have never been disappointed. I enjoy the sushi and the Chinese dishes. My boyfriend always gets the Szechuan chicken and is always happy. We usually get some kind of soup, wontons and egg-rolls and lo mein noodles to share and we have food for days. The portions are huge and great for leftovers, they do have the smaller size available. Occasionally the delivery time is a little long but it's worth the wait. This is the only Blmgtn place that delivers Chinese, I believe. I really like their steamed pot stickers, cream cheese wontons, but always ask for more spice because this is MN. Worst customer service in the Twin Cities now. Period. I've been going to this restaurant since they first moved here from Burnsvilles four or five years ago. This was easily my favorite shop in college, and I would find an excuse to get a combination plate two or three times a week it seems. People change it seems, because not only has the quality of ingredients significantly declined, specifically the use of much lower quality cuts of chicken and fish, so has the restaurant owners' attitudes towards their customers declined. Golden wok now routinely forgets components of my meal, chopsticks, or anything that should be remembered really. Even with specific reminders. Forgotten pops, side orders, and a never-ceasing refusal to ever own up to any of it. I order 30$ worth of suhsi and food, and they forget chopsticks, pop and napkins, and they refused to drive the 0.5miles distance to bring them to me. They instead insist on always "crediting your account" and not only does this credit never end up existing, they offer you the cheapest pittance in the first place. "We forgot your drink and eating utensils? 0.75 off next order. Sorry no more delivery for less than 5$" Absolutely despicable. If they could literally just own up to any mistake i could keep shopping there but fuck that. Im driving 5 miles to Fresh Wok from now on. read more

I am VERY disappointied! I have ordered from these people enough for them to recognize that I am a good customer. These last two times I ordered from them I ordered 4.5 hours ahead of time to assure that I get my food during my work lunch. The first time they were 20 minutes late and I was upset but I didn't make it a big deal I just asked if there was any way they could give me a discount. The manager offered me a measly %10! i said whatever, OK! And today again!! I ordered 4 hours ahead of time and they didn't even have the decency to let me know they were gonna be an hour late?!? i had to call with 5 minutes left on my lunch and the guy was super rude and extremely unsympathetic and did not offer me any sort of compensation or apology!! I love Chinese food and I order all the time, but this is the last time I order from these guys!!! read more

Ordered delivery, #65.Szechuan Chicken for with Fried Rice and #2 - Chicken Egg Roll (2), total came out to $14.82, including $1.30 delivery fee. The delivery driver was friendly and the food was hot when it arrived. The. egg rolls were nice and crispy with the perfect blend of ingredients. The Szechuan Chicken had lots of fresh vegetables and the chicken was tender. I was not impressed with the Szechuan sauce however. The menu indicated it was supposed to be spicy but in reality it was quite bland and did not have any kick whatsoever. My only other complaint is that they did not include chopsticks or and other eating utensils with the food (fortune cookies were :-) ). I suppose they would include utensils if you asked when ordering though (which I did not). The food was reasonably priced and could easily feed two people so it comes out to less than $8 per person not including tip. I will probably try them again but will order a different entree. read more

Golden Wok can never seem to get a take out order right and even if they do the food tends to be bland. No corn comes with corn, fried tofu comes raw, vegetables with sauce come sauceless, chicken comes as beef. Their menu needs some work as well. When you order shrimp chow mien you don't expect to get pork in it. Even worse is when you get it and you call them to tell them they accidentally gave you the wrong thing again and they say sorry that is the way we make it and wouldn't exchange it. I was told I should have asked if there was pork in it or ordered the vegetarian. Should I ask if there is pork in every dish? Really maybe they should get better menu descriptions, cooks and customer service. We haven't ordered from there since the last take out disaster but wanted some Chinese. Last Golden Wok mistake they make for us since we won't be ordering from there again. I recommend checking your order before u leave the restaurant and always ask if your dish has pork. read more
