Wonton Soup!
Lorie F.

Call ahead! Place was packed during lunch. 3.5 stars. This was my first visit to a spot that has been in the area for awhile. I ordered Chicken & Broccoli w/ Garlic Sauce extra spicy. This is this dish I use to gauge whether or not I like a Chinese take out. It was sweet and had a mild kick.. (Luckily, I keep crushed red peppers at work.) Sauce was a little more thick than I like but, still good. Flavors were balanced and I was pleased. Nothing worse than having bland Chinese food. I also tried the wonton soup thinking it would be a clear liquid. While there is soy sauce in the soup, it was tasty. I liked the strips of pork that were in the soup. The fortune cookie brand won me over! There is only one other spot that serves this specific cookie and I LOVE THEM! Quick service & extensive menu in addition to the standard! I'd like to try their Pad Thai next..

Metal in my broccoli

The folks are nice but this place is filthy. Rat and roach poop is always on top of the refrigerator. I've gotten enough hair in my food to make a wig. Now I've found a shard of metal in my broccoli. Sorry but I'm done. No stars.

Sesame tofu with vegetable fried rice, and broccoli in brown sauce with white rice (take out, they do not give you halloween paper plates).

Giving 3 stars because the Golden Wok was average. Wasn't the best and nothing amazing about it, but it also wasn't not gross or too oily or anything like that. Your typical Chinese take out for Hampton Roads. Didn't give me an fortune cookies which was kind of a bummer.

The food tasted good can't be upset at that! Opened it the wrong way rushing for work and was like ew why does it look this way lls

Good food. I only have a problem with their steamed plain rice having oil. Yes. Their steamed rice has lots of oil.

Food is good but sometimes they don't remove feathers from the chicken wings. Fast service and ok customer service. No delivery.

Lunch special prices are great and so are their portions. I'm a repeat customer. Food is pretty good.

I called earlier in the day to see if we should make reservations, but was told they wouldn't be busy. Well, we got there and while they had plenty of tables at 6:30PM, but 7PM that place was completely packed! They had lots of carry-out orders happening too, which all made the kitchen a little slow. We ordered many dishes to share and all started coming out one after another over the next hour until the beef & broccoli was the last dish. Again, I attribute the slowness of the kitchen to their being so busy. At least all the food that came out was very fresh, tasty, and piping hot. Some interesting items that were quite good were their potatoes and green peppers. This dish is something I've never seen before but was pretty good! It features long julienned potatoes that they clearly soak in water before wok'ing with the peppers - that was all that was in the dish, but it was still tasty. Their Fish in Chili Oil & Bean Sprouts was really tasty and fresh! The fish is flounder. Their spicy wontons in chili oil were very popular with our group too. Service here was friendly too and helpful. Like I said, we tried many items, so many more than I just outlined and all were nice. I'd definitely return for a slightly more elevated Chinese menu from what you get at the typical Chinese-American joints.

That was reassuring, busy is usual a good sign that the food is good. The location is great, close to the beach. The food was nicely packaged in sturdy containers and not styrofoam! We ordered orange chicken and broccoli beef. Both were tasty and fresh! Highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

It is one of those things where one place might have great fried rice, one has great egg rolls, and another has great lo mein. Overall the food was good as I went with the General Tsos combo that comes with regular fried rice but for a small upcharge if you want to change the rice to pork or shrimp. To me it is still unusual as I thought ham fried rice was just a normal thing that comes with a dinner combo along with an egg roll. Not anymore. I ordered an eggroll (2 per order) to go with the meal along with a teriyaki stick. The teriyaki stick (you get 2 per order) was pretty good and not dried out to the point where it could pass for jerky. The chicken in the dinner was good and not overly breaded. It was supposedly spicy but trust me anyone could handle this spice. Good spot to quench your hankering for some American Chinese food. Parking can be a bit iffy with a few spaces in the front on the street shared with other restaurants but the same holds true for the spaces behind the building.
