It's the typical walk in and go Chinese food. Nothing surprising or fantastic. Consistent and reliable.

Conveniently located but service is horrible. I wanted to order extra shrimp but have them placed in a separate container I was told no! I respectfully asked why and was not given a clear answer. I was even willing to pay for the container I just wanted my shrimp separated out. I also requested no onions or vegetables but wanted egg they actually charged for the egg. Food is always fresh and hot and well-seasoned. The customer service is great -- the woman & family who work there are always courteous, polite, and strive to get your order 'just right.' We've been coming here for 10+ yrs, and have never had a problem or complaint - their food is always good, and their prices are very reasonable, the staff are kind. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a big fan of take-out/delivery Chinese food. I just find it to be a letdown most times--poor quality and weird portions favoring cheaper fare like rice and veggies instead of chicken, pork, beef, etc. Great Wall is not that different, but I will say a few things for it. First, the chicken, while not served generously, was not as dry as most Chinese places. I hate it when it's like that. This chicken was actually okay and didn't get stuck in your teeth. The beef there is okay, nothing great, but okay. The pork fried rice was quite tasty with soy sauce. The egg rolls also weren't bad for being a frozen bulk food item. The service was good. The girl behind the counter was quick and intuitive, and her English was really good, which I think, unfortunately, is somewhat important to the overall experience of ordering Chinese food. I've certainly experienced language barrier issues at other places, but this wasn't the case here. It's a nice little place and I wish I had something like this closer to where I live. Worth checking out: the General Tsao's Chicken... As stated previously, the quality of the chicken itself isn't too bad, not too dry. And the sauce isn't overly sweetened, which is something I always look for. read more

Nestled in the Farm Fresh shopping center on Kempsville, is a gem of a Chinese Restaurant known as Great Wall. It may be hard to find as it is located between a Bank of Hampton Roads and some sort of martini lounge. However, if you are able to find it, do stop in and order something. Tonight my sis ordered Chicken with Broccoli, Shrimp Egg Foo Young, Steamed Pork Dumplings, Shrimp Lo Mein and Shrimp Fried Rice. The total bill was $28.45. Not too shabby considering it fed 6 people to the gills with food still left over for an after midnight snack. The lo mein and egg foo young were top notch. The rest of the items were good, but weren't standouts like the first two items. I used to order food from here quite often when I lived in Chesapeake and suggested that we order from here when no one knew what to do for dinner. My parents were impressed, my grandfather couldn't stop eating, and my youngest sister stated that the lo mein was the best she's had in Va. I suggest you get to steppin' and taste for yourself. Eh. I wish I could say more. Unfortunately, I still automatically associate Chinese food with the late/great Peking Duck Inn. And, unfortunately, nothing quite stacks up ... But, then again, this is fast-food not gourmet. Thus, my very average review. I order from here probably more than any other Chinese spot and they are always very quick with the delivery. They do not advertise delivery, in fact they actually advertise that they do NOT deliver. But rest assured, they do. If you're big into fried dumplings, the ones here are not particularly special even for fast food-style Chinese. However, the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce and the Shrimp with Broccoli are pretty decent. First time eating here,chose it because it had 4.5 stars,wrong choice...the beef & broccoli was plain,no flavor and the broccoli was under cooked.Crab Rangoon were horrible,egg roll was the best thing and it wasn't good. Nothing Great about this place. The Wonton Soup had a weird taste- almost like a cleaning product while the C9 boneless spare ribs were supposed to come with pork fried rice but instead included plain white rice. I called and was not given any specific reasoning- seems like a way to save money for the place. I will not be back even though the location is right down the street. I usually HATE fast food Chinese food. They usually always tasted weird and full of yuckiness. I just moved here and looking at Yelp reviews I decided to try this place. I ordered Generals Tso Chicken with rice, egg drop soup, crab ragoon, and an eggroll. You can tell it is a family owned restaurant and their daughter is always there playing games and studying while her parents run the restaurant. They have four tables for people who chose to eat inside. It seems fairly clean in the inside. I ordered my food to go, and they packed everything nicely in the bag so that everything didnt spill. When I got home I tried the General Tso and it was delicious! It was crispy with the right amount of sauce. They give you a fair amount of food. I ate it for left overs for three days! The crab ragoon was good...plenty of cream cheese and sweet and sour sauce. The egg drop so was awesome. I am very picky when it comes to eggs and egg drop soup in general. Im not a fan of eggs but if you make a really good egg drop soup...then ill always go to your restaurant. I always get bland tasteless egg drop soup...or sometimes it will taste like a cleaner...but this place made it perfect. Its fast food chinese...so its not super premium, but the food was good and worth the money I spent. read more

Had beef and broccoli. Seems like enough for two to share or left overs. I found it had a balance of beef and vegetables. I also had the fried won tons. Even though they fried them up fresh, they didn't taste all that great. Not sure if they lack some flavor or tasted old. Or perhaps the grease needs to be changed out. read more

Best fast food Chinese place. Interior is nothing to write home about but the cashier and her daughter are the sweetest people you'll meet. The food is so good and they often will memorize your order for every time if you're the sort who usually gets the same thing every time. I moved to Chesapeake over a year ago, and one of life's little pleasures for me has been ordering delivery of Great Wall's food-I particularly like their their orange chicken, fried rice and spring rolls. That makes a great dinner, with leftovers for the next days' lunch. I keep meaning to order the orange beef, but I like the orange chicken so much I haven't done it yet. The restaurant is located alongside the Farm Fresh on Kempsville Road. Their accuracy with deliveries with me has been 100% (which I cannot say with all the deliveries I've ordered from other places.) I find Great Wall to be reasonably priced.
