I absolutely loved this salon. I went there for a manicure, and to treat my very pregnant sister, whose baby is due in a month, to one as well. Hanna took so much time and care on our nails, and gave us both absolutely perfect manicures. The level of care, detail, and treatment was incredible, probably the best I have ever experienced. The price was incredibly reasonable as well. Thank you, Hanna, and the entire Goldstar, beauty lounge team, for making my sister feel beautiful and forgiving us such a special evening together. My nails look fantastic and I would recommend this to anybody

Be aware of this lady! She is very rude and unprofessional. The other ladies are much nicer and will do a better job.

I bought my mom a Groupon nail service for this place for mother's day because of the good reviews I saw. However, her experience was not great as the lady that was servicing her was unprofessional and terribly rude. She also yelled at another customer for trying to use a coupon for the second time, I understand that she was trying abuse the system, but while you have clients in your store, you need to keep your composure when working in a service industry. The quality of nail polish is very subpar and looks worse than if she would have done them herself. Very disappointed, never gifting this place again. Avoid this place like the plague.

Thank you to the two ladies that took my partner and I in on Saturday. We both had pedicures and my partner had her nails done as well. My gf and I were very close to cutting each other's throats out leading up to this appointment. The ladies Annie and Gina I believe were their names, probably saved us from impending doom. They were very accommodating and hilarious. I even got my nails painted. It did take a bit long but oh well both ladies did a great job! Be prepared to tip because they're awesome. read more

I had a Groupon for a gel mani and booked a pedi with it when I called. I was a bit early, but they were still able to accommodate me, which was nice. The salon is nice enough, the staff is a bit lackluster. The young man who did my nails didn't really talk to me, just gave me hand signs. But at least they were talking among themselves and having fun in a language I couldn't understand. Darnit ;-) The whole experience was OK, but I don't think I will be back. The mani is bumpy and uneven in places, hand and leg massage was more of an afterthought and the towels looked a bit dirty. I'm really very particular when it comes to hygiene in nail salons, so it's a pass from me... read more

Gina is such a wonderful person who is friendly, kind, and very thoughtful. It feels like I'm talking to a nice aunt. She definitely puts time and thought into her technique and the hairstyle that fits for you. Given this was my very first visit here, I'd say she did a pretty fantastic job with my hair. Might not be EXACTLY what I wanted, but certainly was a major improvement over my hair prior to the visit. I've been looking for a place that is cheaper than the majority of places in the Bay Area but also get great service and I think I've found it here. Will definitely be back. Also, she gives great recommendations for southeast Asian food and also has a pedi/mani service on the side that I'd like to check our next time. I'm not giving a perfect score here but that could change over time! read more

I came in pre-Shelter in Place, haven't had a haircut since and can't wait to get back. The first and only time I went was on a recommendation from a friend and long time customer of GIna's. When I arrived, she told me that her appointments for the day were almost all full. She was able to get me in at 6:30pm which made me her last customer of the day (a Saturday no less). I had some trepidation that this would be rushed so that she could go home but not so! She spent a great deal of time cutting my hair, making friendly conversation, going past her closing time and even giving me a complete shampoo, scalp massage and hair gel. I really felt like I was given a personal treatment and will certainly return once Shelter In Place rules are lifted. read more

I absolutely enjoyed my experience here. A small salon on college and I only visited because I purchased a groupon for a gel manicure and regular pedicure for a great deal, but they're regular price of $45 is super reasonable on its own. I will definitely come back if I have the chance. The salon is clean and decorated in an attractive and comfortable manner. Thank you ladies! read more

Gina is a very skilled hairdresser. She listens well to instructions and is a great communicator. I found her by chance walking around in the neighborhood and she for sure is a real gem. Her fee of $30 is below market standard but can be made up via tip. read more

Dip manicure at this place was done in an unsanitary way: at one point, she dipped my fingers in a jar of powder, then tapped the excess powder back into the jar. I had never had a dip manicure before so I didn't know better. The next day, the brand-new manicure started to peel off. I went to a different salon that did it differently (they did a good job). They didn't dip my fingers in a communal jar of powder. I asked her why she didn't use the jar of powder and she said it was unsanitary to dip customers' fingers in the same jar of powder because bacteria and fungus could contaminate the powder. She also said the primer on the first manicure wasn't applied properly and that's why the first manicure peeled off immediately. So I don't recommend Goldstar. read more

Claimed to have told me that white gel will stain? One, no one ever told me that. Two, I've gotten plenty of white gel manis done from other nail salons and they do not stain. Don't be cheap. Update your products. read more

Went here for a gel manicure after purchasing a groupon. The nail tech did a good job and manicure has held up really well. It's been almost 3 weeks out and the manicure is still really stuck on my nail. If it weren't for the natural growth of my nails, the manicure would still be in tip top shape. Adding a design was only $5 for 2 nails. Realized after I left that they never asked what shape I wanted my nails to be but looked great nonetheless. read more

Loved our pedicures with Tu! I made an appointment for a Saturday but brought a friend on a whim, and even though she wasn't expecting us both, she accommodated without hesitation and treated us like total queens! She brought snacks when she noticed I was pregnant, and before we sat down offered us water, tea or wine! Conversation was fun and easy and I could imagine Tu becoming good friends with her regulars. Oh and of course, she did a beautiful job with my feet! Thank you!! Will be back! read more

I've been going to see Gina to get my haircut at Lan's Salon in Berkeley for over 15 years and was heartbroken to discover she'd left. Thank God I was fortunate enough to find her again. Gina is an artist, and like most artists, she undervalues her worth. Currently at, $17.00 for a haircut, rinse, and scalp massage (this is my favorite part), she is a steal (especially on College Ave where a haircut easily goes for double that). Try her out; you won't be disappointed and you'll have a stylist for life. Finding someone who makes you feel and look good is equal to finding a mechanic or doctor you can trust. read more

Hanna and Hien for nails - the only place I'll go to! They previously worked at a salon up the street but have since moved here. They do a fantastic job and are very responsive about booking. Hard for me to find a spot that does my toes well (I have a lot of ingrowns ) and have never had an issue here. Clean salon, run on time, great job, and relaxing environment. read more

At the end of the service, while I was still in a vulnerable state, she took out her phone and began showing me graphic videos, including footage of people being killed. Being shown violent content during a waxing appointment is completely inappropriate and deeply distressing. I did not consent to being exposed to graphic material, and it was extremely uncomfortable. I was also given zero aftercare instructions despite clearly stating this was my first Brazilian. No guidance about heat exposure, friction, exfoliation timing, or what to expect post-wax. Within 24 hours, I developed significant redness across the area. Without aftercare direction, I was left anxious about whether this reaction was normal. This experience felt emotionally unsafe and lacked basic professional boundaries. A service that intimate should feel calm, respectful, and supportive -- not tense, aggressive, and unpredictable. I hope this feedback is taken seriously, because clients deserve safety and professionalism in spaces like this

In the past, I've found that previous waxers have left quite a bit of hair from time to time. Nothing will ever be perfect and there will always been fine hairs left behind, but Shymell makes sure that there is virtually no hair left. I love that the salon carries many of the products that are used as well as other trinkets like greeting cards. You might be able to find cheaper prices elsewhere for the same services, but you won't find this kind of high quality service and care anywhere else. But Alresa is so good with threading that my eyebrows literally inspired art (no joke, someone started using them as a reference for their work). Despite my runny nose and eyes while getting threaded, she makes it as painless as possible. I've even had a Brazilian by her and it was the least painful I've ever had and she had wonderful care tips. She has separate, private rooms for various services, but no matter where you end up, the atmosphere is so calming. She has heaters if you get cold, aloe for eyebrow redness, and paper underwear for waxing. I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else. I just have to rave about the hair salon where we had our recent haircuts. My child had her first haircut there, and Gina, the hairdresser, was an absolute rock star. She has such a great way with kids and made the experience so positive and fun for my little one. I was blown away by how natural and effortless she made it all seem. The result was amazing too - my child looked so adorable with her new haircut! My husband also had his hair cut there, and we were both thrilled with the results. I have been dealing with two wonderful manicurists Hien and Hanna for several years. And I don't want to loose them. The service is great and the place is welcoming. They also have a hair salon here. She does a really good job and actually cares that you're happy with the final look - like she checks in with you, making sure you're satisfied with length/shape/color as she goes, and she's totally ok with making a revision if you ask.
