My son brought his Subaru to get an oil change. A little less than two weeks later lights came on in his car. AT Oil and 2 other lights. He brought it to a mechanic to take a look at my suggestion and he was told the oil was dirty, smelly and over full. Understanding that you have to be really careful not to overfill an engine. It can cause major problems, especially in a car that has a certain transmission that Subaru thought would be a good idea to put in a car. He brought it back to Goldstein, who did an oil change, but said the oil was clean and it was only a little bit over full. I proceeded to call Stephanie Goldstein twice I got her secretary Sandy. Who then told me the service manager would call me I got the assistant Harris. Who proceeded to tell me the same thing my son told me it wasn't dirty. It was only a little overfill yada yada yada he also told me he offered my son to pro bono. Take a look at why the lights were on check the transmission yada yada yada. He said my son refused.. when I texted my son to bring his Subaru back to Goldstein. He said I don't have it. He said he had a new one from Subaru in Troy. He tried to talk to the sales team, Zachary or Zachariah about getting a new Subaru from them. They weren't helpful but the Troy Subaru dealership was. I firmly believe that Goldstein Subaru was responsible for whatever happened to my son's 2017 Subaru.. They the book just like they said that Stephanie Goldstein would call me but her assistant did. They said that the manager of the service station would call and then his assistant did and my son was trying to think that they were decent service station decent sales place giving them the opportunity to get a brand new car from them and even they drop the ball . I have such a bad taste in my mouth. My son had just paid off that car and was hoping to get a few years out of it without a car payment and Goldstein Subaru will they are not worth going to. They pass the book they lied to me and made my son look like the bad guy. Car dealers are like bad lawyers can't be trusted. I would not bring my car there I would not get a car from them. They cannot even be bothered to return a phone call and that's the GM.!! that's a Goldstein I could add more... but I think everyone should get the gist of it!! Brought car in because I was experiencing a tire leak. Stated that I had the low pressure light several days in a row, had to put air in every day. Further stated that I would be working late, in a remote area, the entire next week and needed this properly fixed. They did what I can assume is a very, very basic assessment, found nothing, inflated tire and looked to send me on my way. Of course, next day, same issue. Here we go. Had to leave work (second day in a row) to bring car in. Second time they find a nail in tire (did I mention, the first time they told me they don't really look too closely until customer experiences issue two or three times?!). So now I have taken time off with two days in a row to get a $40 issue resolved, that a high school Vo-Tech student would have resolved first time? Super happy with my experience here today! I was visiting the area from Rhode Island and my key fob started dying and set off the car alarm. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of trying to find a battery and figure this out myself when out of my home area so I just drove here and parked my car, walked in without an appointment and was immediately greeted. I explained the problem and was pointed over to the service desk where I was outfitted with a new battery immediately! Was here like less than 10 minutes and walked out relieved to have had this taken care of. Granted, I am sure I could have done this all myself cheaper at home and even had a pack of batteries sitting back on my desk in RI, but I gladly forked over $7 to have this resolved in minutes with no hassle! read more

So i wanted to give a review unfortunately it's not good at all. I went in to get my car serviced and was told transmission is a dud AS WELL my warranty has expired. Of course instantly was recommended to look into trading it in. I just went to another dealership to get a second opinion and was told that my warranty WAS indeed NOT expired and now I am getting a new transmission valve body replaced for FREE. Both my wife and I drive Subarus, so when our teenage son needed a car for work, we chose to purchase a certified pre-owned Impreza from this dealership. The day after bringing it home, we noticed several small dents and rust spots around the back fender. We trusted the certification process and didn't conduct a thorough inspection, which was our oversight. That said, we believe the dealership would have addressed the issue had we noticed it before finalizing the purchase. Unfortunately, when we reached out to our salesperson, we were only given a body shop recommendation rather than any offer of assistance. Refused to do an oil change on my car, because "the owner has blacklisted me due to a negative review I left them back in 2016". The bad review was because I waited 2+ hours for an oil change and bulb replacement, and they put the wrong oil in my car and completely neglected to change the light bulb. So, it was a well deserved bad review. I originally did not recall the incident from almost 9 years ago, and could not even find the review, but I guess I'll leave a new/updated one based on my experience today. I would suggest putting the right oil in cars to possibly prevent negative reviews, just sayin. Not sure if a justified bad review is a good reason for blacklisting someone who has spent close to $100K there, and purchased two new Subaru's from Goldstein, but obviously will not be a third. Also they pay people $25 to write good google reviews, so good reviews equals $25, bad reviews, because they put the wrong oil in your car equals being black listed from the dealership in perpetuity. Finally, don't let them pull that fake invoice trick on you are considering buying a vehicle from them. It's an old sales trick. Do your own research! read more

I dropped off my vehicle on Thursday 11/16 for service. I was told it would be done by the end of the day, but it wasn't, which is fine. I was told it'd be ready the next day, Friday 11/17 which was no problem. I drive a Crosstrek hybrid and they don't have hybrid loaners. I asked if we could have one of the EV loaners, the solterra EVs, and we were told that they were both reserved for other customers with appointments that day. Anyway, the gasoline-only loaner car was given to us very dirty with preexisting windshield damage, and only about 4 or 5 gallons of gas. We were previously told that the Solterra EV loaners were both reserved but they were sitting there in the same spot both days I was at the dealership. Loaner was brought back with as much gas as was initially provided. Receipt was kept. I asked if they could recharge my Crosstrek plug in hybrid before I picked it back up. I was told the dealership was too busy to plug my car in for a couple hours to recharge before pickup which is disappointing, especially after being told solterra loaners weren't available. The Crosstrek plug in charges fully within 2 hours also, so I don't understand why they didn't plug it in. Also, there is no hybrid loaner car option which isn't very good for hybrid owners that purchased hybrids from Goldstein Subaru. I got my car back Friday, and the hood popped open on central Avenue going about 45 mph, I pulled over and immediately closed it. When I left the lot the hood light wasn't on, but once I started going faster the not-completely-closed hood popped open and triggered the hood light. I believe the staff didn't close the hood all the way. That could've been a serious safety concern if I was on the highway when that happened - and I was just about to get onto the on ramp for the highway! I had a gold detailing service to redeem - everything was cleaned up ok, but I noticed that the center console was not vacuumed out. I also previously Inquired about having my hybrid battery tested, a diagnostic, but never heard back. I asked several days and also a week before my appointment too. Back before they changed and restructured everything and upgraded the dealership, customer service was the best of any Subaru dealer around! Now, the dealership is truly terrible and I would not recommend them at all. I've bought 4 brand new Subarus from them; and I'm thinking my 4th one will be my last! Beware of this dealership. I bought my car here - 2016 Impreza - Brand new off the floor. I am acquaintances with the Goldstein's and fell for the sparkly white impreza on the sales floor. My purchase was about 3 years ago, but I remember it going well and smooth. My salesman was very nice and he still says hello to me each visit. I have to keep returning to get my oil changes or I believe it voids one of my warranties, so I have to come in often. My biggest peeve here is the 'Express Service' versus booking appointments. Usually they won't even entertain the idea of an appointment because of their express service, BUT ask if you have an appointment when you arrive - irritating. My issue is that I can not plan to come here when it may not be busy. I'm usually coming on a Saturday morning and it is mobbed. I do not want to wait for over an hour for the service so it may take many times for me to come in and check the express time to see if its worth it. Just let me make a damn appointment so I can plan it into my day with out flipping a coin on your wait time. The service is pretty good though, after you get it in the shop. They do a mini-multipoint inspection each visit, fill the washer fluid and give the car a quick bath. They also put a reminder sticker on your windshield so you can remember when to return for an oil change. The service is about $50 and they use Gulf Lubricants. But, they do pull your air filters out every single time you are there and ask if you want them replaced. It is a sales pitch - that i pass every time. I have good and bad days with this dealership, so that is how I land at a 3 star review. read more

Downgrade from my earlier review based on back to back to back disappointing (but not disqualifying) experiences here. First off, their service appointment system has an absurdly high burden on the customer. You call, you get transferred, you get put on hold, the hold message tells you you can make an appointment online, but if you go online you can't pick out a time, but only fill out a form -- to request somebody call you back to make an appointment. The one time I did this I got a call back after over a day, and then was put on hold while they searched on the computer for an available time, during which I got transferred back to the switchboard somehow, and then transferred back to being on hold at the service center. I never did get back to the person who I was talking to originally. Secondly, the "miss" rate here for Subaru-specific issues on my older vehicle has been a bit high. I had a tow rig that was a dealer-installed option on my vehicle new, and I needed a new connector. I had a strange conversation with the service manager in which he insisted for quite a long time my vehicle year didn't come with the tow package therefore it must have been an after-market install, despite the fact that (1) I'm the original owner and sort of remembered what I had ordered on the vehicle (2) the owner's manual specifically mentioned the package and (3) I had the original delivery receipt for when the car was new that specifically outlined the manufacturer's package. On the other side of the coin, now that I've skipped town on Goldstein for routine maintenance (largely because I simply can't get through to get an appointment) my new mechanic found a couple of minor things that probably were extant the last time or two I had my vehicle at Goldstein, which they missed. Now, as noted in my earlier review from a long time ago, they haven't done a *bad* job, nor have they done it slowly, nor have the charges been exorbitant. So I'm not ruling them out. But clearly they've got a bit of an assembly line and a lot of mechanics and there's a bit of hit or miss on the thoroughness, and I'd frankly like a very thorough job to try to keep my ancient Subaru running. The whole voicemail-appointment-being on hold run around may be a metaphenomenon but it's symptomatic of a lack of attention to details, IMHO. So I'm bypassing them for now except if I need to get an experienced Subaru-ish fix or estimate. read more

DO NOT GIVE THIS DEALER YOUR TIME/MONEY This dealership has the WORST service department I've ever experienced. For five years I've taken my forester there after purchasing at Goldstein, a plan I had and mostly stuck to while paying the vehicle off. Well fool me over and over. Nearly every experience with service was terrible, and in multiple different ways: - I got dropped off after I was called to come pick the car up. Once there I learned the washer took keys home. I had to wait for them to finish a shower and drive back. This took over an hour and a half. I was stranded. - I was encouraged twice to forgo a brake pad replacement so I could have one done on warranty. Next trip back required me to have to rotors replaced because the breaks were so far gone. - Most times I picked the vehicle up it was filthy. So much for free cleanings with every service. - had to replace rotors a second time after the previous trip included an inspection. The inspection certificate from 5k miles before claimed the pads were in great condition. When I showed the inspection receipt to the service guy he claimed they never check all the brakes and 5k miles is enOugh to go from great to worse than terrible - my Subaru has a knocking noise that I hear whenever turning wide left turns (twice or more a day i hear it). They can't find the issue claim they can't hear the loud knocking sound. - when dropping off for the knocking sound I was told about a recall and that I would have to leave the vehicle overnight if I wanted the recall taken care of. When I went to pick up the nnxt day, nothing was done. They didn't have the recall part in stock that they convinced me to leave the car for, they didn't do the oil change, and what's knocking? I will never go back. I will actIvely encourage everyone I know to avoid Goldstein. read more

the last time i had an appointment for an oil change, i waited 1.5 hours. last monday we brought my son's car in for a service bulletin DCM module issue and to put spring tires on. they had the car for five hours and proceeded to tell me that the DCM was not measuring unusual amounts of draw. (we brought it home and two days later on our multi meter measured 126mz with the car off for an hour) and of course they tried to charge us $80 for the diagnostic which I seriously doubt they did. The service advisor. Doug was extremely rude and the service tech didn't even call me back to address my questions, they just texted me. when I got there to pick up my car which they knew I was coming to get it they still made me wait half an hour for the car to come out with the" valet" then they gave us $1000 less than Carmax and $1300 less than Kelley blue book with a Subaru, guarantee trade value. we have bought three Subarus from this place in the last four years. there is no customer service. There is no customer loyalty and I would never buy a car from them again, nor will I be bringing my car in for service. read more

My husband brought my car in at the appointed time, and they said sorry, your appointment was yesterday. They had a long wait for oil changes and turned him away. WHY WOULD I CALL THIS MORNING AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR YESTERDAY? Just when I think everything that could go wrong with Goldstein has, their service department finds new ways to screw up. Criminals! Brought our Subaru Forester for a "recall" for our 2010 Forester on airbags and brakes. The brakes had worked absolutely fine before bringing the car to Goldsteins. The very next day after we picked up the car, the brakes went out. My wife could have been in a terrible accident. They claimed that it was completely unrelated to the work they did to the car. If, indeed, there had been a brake problem, why didn't they catch it when they were working on the supposed "brake recall"? Abhorrent place. Terrible staff. I came in about 2 weeks ago to work with Yuko Lovely on the purchase of a new car, and she was absolutely amazing. She responded to my phonecalls and e-mails prior to my arrival both quickly and bluntly (that is a good thing). At no time did I feel any pressure from Yuko, and more importantly she was honest. She did not try to up-sell me anything, she only showed me what I wanted. She answered almost all of my questions (even the difficult ones), and I was treated very well. We've always loved our Subarus, but are having a hard time with their service. The 2015 Forester has this ridiculous problem that the radio stops working if the battery runs down and gets a jump. The check audio warning comes on, but there is NO instruction on how to fix it. When we took in our car to Goldstein, they were very rude, had never heard of the problem, and said we needed a new radio. So we found a YouTube video that explained how to fix the problem for free. There were lots of frustrated Subaru owners who had experienced the same problem. read more

Horrendous customer service - needed to replace a rear view mirror on an '18 Forester and replace a simple cap on rear wiper. Called and spoke to one of apparently many Kyles and was given price quote, order parts. Called a week later and no one had a record of transaction. Started again and finally got a 7a Monday appt. now 2 weeks in. Showed up at 7 and had to wait for an hour to contact a human. I went in on 8/10/19 and had a wonderful experience with the salesman Sean. He was so kind to my father and I and he was really a great person to work with. The numbers for my trade in weren't great, so I told them I wanted to think about it for a bit. On 8/19/19 I call the sales manager (Mike Purcel) to see if my salesman Sean and the car I wanted was still there and if the numbers we had discussed were still honorable because I was interested in buying it that day. He said my car was still available and that he would honor everything, so I made an apt to come in that same day to sign the paperwork and finalize things. I arrive at the dealership for my appointment and sit and wait for about 15 minutes for them to find my car. Turns out the car I wanted was sold and my salesman Sean isn't actually there. Okay, not off to a great start. Me and a new salesman (who was very sweet and helpful) find an almost identical car but just in another color with more miles and less safety features. The Sales Manager (Mike Purcel) that I talked to on the phone earlier that day comes to the back and we go to sit down to look at numbers. The price on this almost identical car are not even close to the numbers that he said he would honor.... About $2.6k higher to be exact. How am I paying more now for a car with more miles on it and less safety features? I pulled out the paperwork on the car I had driven on 8/10 and said that these new numbers are not the numbers we had agreed on- he did not apply the honored discount to this almost identical car. He said "well this monthly payment is around where you want and this is a DIFFERENT car now and I KNOW that you've been looking for cars for a while now..." probably thinking that I would just give in *due to car shopping exhaustion* since I had been at the dealership for about 2-3 hours at this point and sign. The Sales Manager Mike Purcel lied to me about my car still being there to get me back to the dealership, lied about honoring the 8/10 offers and discounts, tried to shuffle numbers and papers around to confuse me & then tried to make up excuses to not honor his word. Needless to say, I did not sign the paperwork because it was clear I was trying to be taken advantage of. I am very glad I walked away from the dealer that day because after relaying this story to others, I heard nothing but horror stories from friends, family and co-workers who had made the mistake of purchasing a vehicle from Goldstein and their disgraceful ways to void your "lifetime warranties". So, so glad I dodged this bullet and decided to go somewhere else. Told this failure is becoming commonplace and Subaru of America wants to avoid a recall. Also found out car has two outstanding recalls for Brake Hose and PCV Valve failures - never notified. I brought my Subaru Forester in to have it get the once over after taking over the car from my elderly mother, who no longer could drive. The car had just over 11,000 miles on it. I specifically asked for the brakes to be checked because they didn't feel right. I was told by the mechanic at Goldstein they were fine and stopped with no problem. Here we are 7 months later and I hear terrible grinding noise and took it to my local mechanic and found out the back brakes were medal on medal and the fronts needed new pads. I wound up needing new rotors and pads on the back and pads on the front. This should have noticed when it was being looked at at Goldstein. I am also concerned why a car with now only 20,000 miles on it, should need new brakes and rotors. My mechanic did show me everything before doing any of the work. read more

Congratulations Toyota for having the best snacks not only donuts but there is apples and oranges as well when I stopped by today. Also a choice of coffee, Nokia auto latte and hot chocolate. There is another local dealership that I had a nightmare with. Night and day difference. The boss lady that runs the dealership is true from the heart. She is soft spoken. Smart and petty too. She runs a tight ship so everything goes smoothly. There is a man name Aaron. He said he has been in the business forever. I think he said he has been with the Goldstein dealership for over 25 years. That is pretty amazing when an employee stays with the same company that long in that industry. If a business takes care of their employees they do not leave. Same goes with the customers. On 5/28/2019 my Subaru was at Goldstein for an Airbag recall, no other service was requested. When the service writer called to advise my vehicle was ready she informed me several other items needed to be addressed. " rr ball joint loose-rr upper control are needed- 4 wheel alignment recommended-l&r taillights out in tailgate-lf&rf markers out-l&r dal/running light out". I advised her I would take the car to my mechanic for repairs. I stopped at his shop, a mechanic I've used for over 20 years, and made an appointment for the next day. His findings...and an associate mechanic in the shop where: No issue with the ball joint or upper arm control! No issue with the running lights! Tailgate lights and markers did need to be replaced. My $30. repair could easily have been several hundred had I listened to this dealerships recommendation. I texted my service advisor and told a customer service rep about my mechanics findings, no one has bothered to follow up. I am so thankful to have an honest, ethical person to do my auto repairs. I'm sure many customers would just have said go ahead as long as the car was in the shop, never questioning the need for the repairs recommended. Sales experience was better than average. The service side at Goldstein is fairly poor which is odd since service generally makes more money than sales. Today I had to leave a message during peak business hours for service to call me back--the department didn't even answer their phone. Free car wash comes with vehicles purchased there, but they've shut the service down when temperatures are near freezing--they say the temp is a concern, but other area car washes are up and running, so they have no excuse really. read more

DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM THEM!!! This is my third negative comment about Goldstein Subaru. I bought a used Jeep Renegade in March 2021. Before I picked up my vehicle they told me they were checking the car all over and checking on any recalls. Well here we are in August 2021 and my car is at a different shop getting a recall fixed that was from 2019. So obviously Goldstein DID NOT check for any recalls because I wouldn't be in this situation now. Also, in only 5 months of driving my vehicle I should not be having to worry about breaks. Well my back brakes are so bad the pads aren't even touching the rotors. Which I feel is another thing that should have been fixed before picking up my vehicle. Hell you don't want to fix the stuff at least tell me about the recalls and any other problems so I can get them fixed. Again, DO NOT BUY FROM GOLDSTEIN SUBARU!!!! I learned the hard way, listen to the reviews. Go to a LIA DEALERSHIP, they know what they are talking about and are very friendly. read more
