Dr. Miller put my old dog, Red, to sleep today. Red was a good dog all her life. Never got in trouble. Well, almost never. But she was in pain and getting weaker by the day. Finally she couldn't stand up by herself and I knew it was time. Dr. Miller was professional but also kind and caring. She talked me through the procedure. She's very good at this. You'll know when it's time, you must be prepared to do this for your pet it's what they need when their little life has fallen apart and they are no longer living their best life but just holding on and quietly suffering. To be honest, Dr. Miller told me she on vacation for 2 weeks, and maybe she would not be the right person to talk to. Didn't even let me have chance to discuss anything. We recently used the services of Dr. Miller to help our wonderful Dalmatian, Gemma, to cross over the Rainbow Bridge, and cannot recommend her highly enough. She returned our call quickly, and set up an appointment to come to our house. I found her to be the right combination of compassionate about our loss, but also comforting that as a medical person she was handling the situation very professionally. What a relief to my wife and I, and to our other Dal to help Gemma like this in her final time. It would have been even harder to load her into the car and drive her to the Vet, and then to take her to an exam room. Instead we were all together around her favorite bed, and she first went to sleep, and then took a final breath. It was hard, but this made it much easier and more personal. I called her on Thursday afternoon and she was at my home the next morning to help Joey cross the Rainbow Bridge.
