My mom took her cat there today because he was having trouble peeing. The vet told her it could be UTI or Idiopathic Cystosis and she wanted to do a test for the Idiopathic Cystosis and my mom asked "well what is that?" and was told by the vet "Look it up yourself" Imagine being concerned for your cat and taking it to a vet (who is probably just trying to charge you for tests) and the vet tells you to "look it up yourself". Absolute horrible business. Do not recommend for anyone who wants quality care for their pets. read more

I see some bad reviews and wonder why? The staff is extremely friendly. The doctor was great. She took her time and went over everything. I have taken my dogs to Dr Maria Curtis for the past 10 years, but no more. During the worst surge of coronavirus in Arizona, she refused to wear a mask during our visit yesterday. When we questioned her decision, both she and her vet tech told us that if we were uncomfortable with the situation we were welcome to go to another vet. Her cavalier attitude, which of course extends to her staff, for the health and protection of her clients is unacceptable. Wearing a mask is such a simple thing to do to help reduce the spread of this disease. Her refusal to do so baffles me. When so many other vets are going out of their way to prevent the spread of coronavirus there's no reason to support one who does not. read more

Grover had to have his teeth cleaned other places wanted to remove all his teeth but Dr. Goodenough only had to remove 2 large teeth and 1 small I'm over the moon happy. My mom has always used Dr. Curtis at Eastside pet clinic and when it came time to euthanize my best friend of 18 years, I called them also. It was already a traumatic day and this clinic added to that. They took my cat to the back of the clinic for about 5 minutes and when they returned, they told me they had sedated her. She was a mess and began vomiting. After doing that twice, I was told, "oh, sometimes they have that reaction". Shouldn't I have been warned?? My last moments with my cat are horrible and she had no clue who I was. They also told me to knock on the door when I was ready for the doctor. I knocked 4 times, stuck my head out front and opened the door to the back. Nobody ever came and my cat was getting worse. Dr. Curtis was kind but the overall experience was nightmarish. read more

Went in to have our Kitty euthanized. The vet diagnosed her with breast cancer a little over a month ago. We had one question to ask the Dr. and insisted we didn't need a consult or for her to look at our sweet animal, she was dying. We stated this to the front desk clerk, she left slamming the doors and came back and said that the doctor wanted us to take the cat and leave the office. This was the most horrific experience that I have dealt with in my life. I'm still in a state of shock. Please go elsewhere if you need any type of pet services. People that treat other people in this fashion, when they are hurting and in duress need to find another line of work if they're dealing with animals and their owners. read more

They must be short staffed... I had to wait over 15 minutes when I had an appointment. I went in for a simple health certificate and although the staff was nice, the attention to detail was not there. My dog got her vaccinations all on the same day (I showed them the certificate of vaccinations) and on the health certificate I received they all have different dates. I didn't have time for them to redo it since I was already late for work but kind of sucks and I'll probably be going somewhere else from now on. read more

Dr. Curtis and the staff are very friendly to the pets and people. My first visit was about 12 years ago due to a stray dog needing medical attention. The vet I chose first was also good with the dog, but when it came to surgery it was necessary for me to get some estimates. Eastside was considerably less and the personnel were efficient and knowledgeable. Needless to say, after surgery I had a dog;) I have referred other pet owners who are also pleased with the care provided at Eastside. read more

The last visit, Dr. Curtis was very uncaring and sarcastic. She said I worry too much. Yet she took my $58.00 dollars for 5 minute checkup. She was not complete in her checkup of my pet. I have previously had good experiences with this vet, but this last visit has made me realize I am better off going elsewhere for my dogs care. I want to start out saying that the front staff and technicians were nothing but helpful and respectful during my visit. On the otherhand, Dr. Trueba is an oppressive and uncomfortable man to be in the same room with. My dog has been having an issue with holding her poop and subsequently pooping in my bed. I came in today to ensure that this was not medically motivated by anything such as pain or illness. Before even seeing or checking my dog, Dr. Trueba announced that he didn't think it was medically related and I had to fight him to even give my dog a check up regarding this. This exam was not done in good faith that something could be wrong and I do not trust this man's judgement that nothing is truly wrong. I would be ecstatic to know that my dog is not sick, but none of Dr. Trueba's actions gave me confidence that we know this for sure. I simply wanted my concern to be taken seriously. This man came across as sexist and unwilling to work with dog owners to make sure their animals are okay. He insinuated malicious intent on a dog pooping in an unfortunate place because she is holding it for an unknown reason. Dogs do not plan to poop in people's bed as revenge, they do it to communicate that something is wrong. He mansplained my own explanations of my dogs behavior back to me as if I did not just say it myself. To say that I am upset and uncomfortable with this whole experience is an understatement. Furthermore, he dismissed that black widow bites are a serious medical condition. His belief is that it doesn't happen because he hasn't seen it himself. Considering they're not an emergency vet and closed in the evenings, it's really unlikely they would have to see dogs for this. Black widows are nocturnal and dogs are most likely to be bitten outside of this vet's open hours. Do not spread misinformation that could get animals killed. Ultimately, this man is very dismissive, inflexible, and looking to fight dog owners on their knowledge of their dogs. If are not a man, expect this vet to be particularly uncomfortable in the way he talks to you and in his view of you as a person (or as less than a person). read more

UNBELIEVABLE AND SPEECHLESS! 15 years ago when my daughter and I volunteered for the humane society, they mentioned Maria Curtis as a vet that was close to my eastside home. After this many years the clinic has gone severely south. The vet and the administrative assistant just left my husband and I feeling hurt, sick, horrified, and stunned at their lack of compassion and assistance when we met them for our appt. to euthanize our cat that Dr. Curtis just months previously diagnosed our kitty with cancer. After half an hour of waiting for our cat to be seen to euthanize and speak with Dr. Curtis, she was a no-show and refused to see us due to another unforeseen up charge. Instead they wanted to wisk our already terrified cat away to be put down. Through my tears I said to the admin woman, are you serious? At that point she told us that, "Dr. Curtis has asked me to tell you to take your cat and leave the clinic." UNBELIEVABLE, UNPROFESSIONAL, but mostly UNCOMPASSIONATE! read more

I recently had an appointment yesterday at 11am for my 2 large dogs. I arrived a bit early and they took me right back. I was very pleased with how the entire staff was courteous and compassionate to me and my dogs needs! Dr. Trueba gave a thorough exam and explained everything clearly. Terri and Karen were so experienced that they were able to trim my overly nervous & protective dog's nails! (Something that had not been done in years due to his temperament) The staff was so in sync that the entire visit was only about 30 minutes! I am very satisfied with my experience and I will be recommending Eastside Pet Clinic to all other pet lovers! read more

The Vet name Karen (don't remember last name) at Eastside miss diagnosed both my Pit bulls that another vet later did correctly. She also did dental on my small dog leaving a large hole that went all the way into the nose cavity, that was the worst injury but there were many other holes and injured bone left behind. Whatever you do don't let her do dentals on your dog. She doesn't know what she is doing. She also picked up my 11 year old Toy chihuahua up in the air and flipped him over on his back when he has had a back injury in his past. No common sense. read more

Such a great little pet clinic! We're new to Tucson so I had no idea of where to take my dog for any veterinarian needs. I was recommended here by our groomer and he didn't steer us wrong! The Vet here is kind and compassionate as is her staff. Very helpful and insightful. Their prices are reasonable. I went in because my groomer noticed abnormal anal gland extractions and pus around them. I was billed $43 (used the $5 coupon from their website otherwise it would have been $48) $18 for anal gland extractions and $33 for a 7 day antibiotic regiment. Overall my experience here was great. I will be returning for sure. read more

If I could give a minus star, I would. The miserable excuse for a Vet thinks she has all the answers, is insulted when you ask questions or make a suggestion. When my regular vet was out of town in December 2014, we went there on a recommendation - big mistake!! - and had tons of blood work done to find out why our little chihuahua was rapidly losing weight. After the tests came back she told me my dog had Valley Fever and needed the anti-fungal Fluconazole. I asked whether Itraconazole might not work better...as it had in several of our other little dogs. She told me "Itraconozole does not work in dogs..." which is in direct contradiction to serious veterinary research. Sadly I went along with her suggestion. After about 6 weeks when our little one continued to get sicker, I took her back to my previous vet who was back in town. I had the original blood work results faxed to him. It was after speaking with him I learned that my dog only had 30% kidney function at the time of the original testing...We re-did the blood work and after 6 weeks of fluconazole (which is filtered thru the kidneys) her function was down to TEN PERCENT. Iterkonazole would have filtered primarily thru the liver, but at this point there was so little kidney function left that we could not risk any toxins going thru her system!!! So we could not keep her on any anti-fungal medications. Had doctor-know-it-all-know-nothing considered an option, our dog might have survived... Our little one was so ill that we were discussing euthanasia in Feb. 2015. I was able to nurse her along, knowing either the kidneys would fail or the Valley Fever would kill her. Our little dog passed yesterday, December 9th 2015. If this so-called Vet had considered Iterconazole, which is filtered thru the liver, rather than becoming angered by my suggestion - our dog might still be with us and getting better. We spent a small fortune on blood work which she either didn't review or didn't care about...and promoted a drug which killed our dog. This Vet is a piece of work who should retire. read more
