Dr Boyer and her staff are people of true character, feelings as well as professionalism. They give you their absolute best no matter what the situation or how many times they have had to deal with it. I recently had to face the inevitable decision that a lot of us dog lovers do and had to and put my grey on " the other side of the rainbow". I can't tell you how compassionate the whole staff was and Dr. Boyer especially was amazing. She understood my emotional pain and really helped me through the process. After over a decade of seeing Dr Boyer I came to realize how awful this vet really is. She does not check the weight of your dog to determine the correct dosage of heart medicine. My dog was on the incorrect usage until I verified with another vet the CORRECT dosage. This vet fired me and my 3 dogs in the middle of treating them for major medical disorders. I believe she did this because she was not experienced enough to treat them properly. I found error after error. She's an unethical practitioner. She is high strung and very insulting. She takes 100% of your money (she's one of the most expensive vets in Tucson) but offers only 50% or less care. And she does NOT care for her patients nor their families. She refuses to answer questions like dietary needs or tests and procedures that need to be done. She misdiagnosed and mistreated all 3 of my dogs. I would not use Kayla Boyer she is terrible and has really gone downhill over the years. She's nasty and refuses to answer important questions because she lacks capability and knowledge. Moving is always hard, but I actually cried hardest when saying goodbye to Dr. Boyer and her staff. I contacted them a few years ago when my cat was acting strange (not eating, hunched, sleeping a lot). Given that she was a senior kitty, I thought she was on her last leg. But Dr. Boyer was like a dog with a bone (pardon the pun), determined to find the reason behind my cat's illness. Turns out, she was just anemic and needed frequent Epigen injections. The turn around in my cat was incredible. She is like a spry kitten again! And she's 18!!!! The genuine care and concern Dr. Boyer and her staff have for your pet will be second to none. In the time I took Sophie here I always felt completely taken care of and trusted them more than anyone with my baby. My hubby and I find her to be down-to-earth, high integrity, compassionate, warm, very experienced, and super-knowledgeable. My hubby says she's like a solid, down-home, ol' fashioned country doc. The whole staff is great, especially Robert the Vet Tech. And we never feel rushed, even when they are busy. She's fair-minded, has appropriate pricing, and does not employ the fear-mongering upsell tactics that we've experienced at a few other veterinary practices in town. (Ex. almost $500 for a simple UTI at PAWS with over-the-top bloodwork costs and unnecessary follow-up appt and more bloodwork... when it was clear it was a common, simple UTI.) read more

I am the dog-mom of a very nervous 39lb german shephard mix. I knew that when I picked him up at PACC, that I wanted to find a good quality vet for a lower price. I picked this location for the good reviews. Our experience wasn't bad, I just admittedly don't feel like it was a great fit. Their exam room is relatively small and did nothing to ease his anxiety. When they gave him his shots, I watched as they muzzled him and repeatedly tapped him on the head "to distract him." Whereas this might be okay for most dogs, my buddy flinches at the lightest of taps when he is as terrified as he was. It was an incredibly stressful environment for both of us. Seeing this, I decided I'd be willing to dish out some extra money to find him a place that is a little less stressful on him. Again, it's not as if they did anything wrong, I just don't think it worked for my anxious buddy. A 3-star rating of A-OK is perfectly reflective of our experience. read more

This was literally the 4th vet that I took my cat Norm to while dealing with a growth/skin issue on the base of his tail. The other vets tried various antibiotics and treatments but nothing had worked over the span of a year. After some extensive research, Kayla found a very specific antibiotic that has been working for him and has given me hope of curing this after a year of trial and error. Not only was Kayla doing research but she was also making phone calls on my behalf to animal dermatologist and going above and beyond to solve this issue. I've been in the Tucson area for 4 years now. Back in Arizona since December 2009. And I have to come clean...I've been vet hopping. I'm owned by 5 pets, 3 dogs and 2 cats. My dogs range in size from 19 lbs to 85 lbs to 130 lbs. Small, medium, and large. For the most part they're healthy and doing great, but when my terrier mix developed bad breath (bad doesn't begin to explain it. His breath smelled like he'd just eaten fresh zombies) and was pawing at his mouth, I knew I had to find a good vet. Dr. Boyer is that vet. I've been searching for a veterinary doctor I could trust with my "kids", one who'd genuinely care for them, one who loves what they do, and one who gives a level and quality of care I'd grown accustomed to when I lived in Wisconsin. Last week, my little dog went in for dental surgery. He had to have all of his teeth, and part of his jaw removed. I was called twice during the surgery with updates by the vet tech Robert. Robert is another amazing addition to our experience. He's gentle, informative, and kind. When my fur baby was released Dr. Boyer sat with me, taking her time to explain what she did, then Robert took over with the after care instructions. I'm a massage therapy instructor and had to bring my little dog with me to class after picking him up. I was given a blanket (which I'm going to wash and return) to carry him out with, and a hug from Dr. Boyer. She thanked me for trusting her with my pet. I'll only use Dr. Boyer's clinic from now on. I had an emergency today with my dog and I was frantically trying to talk to the woman at this place. Do not go here for an emergency! She was so focused on the $55 fee that was due before they would even look at my dog who was in serious pain! What is wrong with these people????? I explained that I had left my house in such a hurry that I didn't even have shoes on or my wallet. She kept going on about the $55... Geez! I would have come up with something to get it taken care of, I'm freaking out. My baby is badly injured and she and I are both absolutely terrified!!!!! In my frantic state, I said a curse word and she had to scold me for it. I'm freaking out and don't know up from down and she is focused on my potty mouth and $55!!! Luckily, I realized that I wanted the actual emergency vet which made $1200 from me today! Your loss! I love how effusive Dr. Boyer is with my sweet, mischevious cat and all the animals that come in the office. She always tells my kitten how handsome he is and I appreciate a vet who actually chats with the animals. All the staff who've helped me have been personable, kind, and confident and I really appreciate their calls the day after any visit to check how my cat is doing. I always feel like my visits are honest, efficient, and thorough. Dr. Boyer and staff explain things well and are open to helping me consider options or prioritize care if money is an issue, while still being up to date on the latest options. Dr. Kayla Boyer and her fantastic staff have been fantastic with our two dogs: Big (black Lab mix) and Cindy (pit/terrier mix). Big has had all kinds of health issues - mostly stemming from lesions he gets between his toes. After all kinds of tests and allergy screenings, we have him on a special diet and antigen injections at home. We are certainly doing our part to help with the economic recovery. My mom passed and I "inherited" her dog. I took my dog here because she had a mass on her rectum. A friend referred me and had only positive things to say bout the office and the staff. The staff was super nice and attentive. My dog received the medical attention she needed. Dr. Boyer was very informative on what needed to be done and the different options I had to remedy the situation. The rooms are super clean (no fur everywhere like other vet offices I have been to), you can purchase food in the lobby, and they have covered parking. I'm so glad we decided to choose these great people to take care of our newly adopted Cockapoo, Snow. Her first visit was great. The people were very nice and really cared about her and the other animals. That's actually rather rare when it comes to vets. I've seen many vets who really didn't care all that much about the animals and who didn't understand that they're actually family members. These folks get it - big time! We saw Dr. Crawford and I was so impressed that he didn't immediately grab our dog and put her up on the cold table and start prodding her. He actually sat down on the floor and played with her while he conducted his exam. She thought the whole thing was fun. The staff were very kind and when they did her various blood tests (she's a new adoptee) they took her to a nice area where they could do what needed to be done without stressing out her owners. Everyone on staff had to pet her and play with her and she loved the attention. I don't think we'll have any trouble getting her to want to visit again for her check ups! Update: Our girl needed surgery for torn ligaments in her leg recently. Speedway was able to do the surgery for about half what a specialist wanted to charge and she's done great. The staff took excellent care of her and she's healing nicely. For those who claim the services are too expensive I have to say either you're very cheap or you just don't know what you're talking about. The services were less expensive than other places for her surgery and all of her follow-up visits have been free of charge until she is released to normal play and activity. read more

I am so angry at this clinic! Warning DO NOT take your dog to this vet!! She is a money hungry witch! I trusted her with my dog, she only cares about what money she can drain from you! My dog was full of lung cancer and fluid, I asked her to do an x-ray on my boy and she said you can't tell cancer from an x-ray! I had been force feeding him for almost three months, and there advice was to keep doing it.!!!!! I wish you could have seen my boys chest x-ray today! He also had desert valley fever and she put him on a steroid that made the disease kick in worse, my boy couldn't take the medicine for the valley fever and I kept asking her what was I going to do, she never told me about the valley fever specialist I could have taken him to! When I first saw Dr. Boyer my boy weighted 85 pounds and in less than 6 months my boy lost 20 pounds! If you love your dog keep them away from her!!!!' read more

I chose Speedway Veterinary Hospital because it was recommended to me by several people and it is convenient to my home. I had previously taken my dog to two other vets in Tucson, and I felt they were just not being thorough enough. Something was wrong, and the diagnosis and medication just weren't right. I adopted my dog from a rescue and he had a persistent cough that previous medications had no effect on, so I took him to Speedway Veterinary Hospital based on the recommendation of others. Dr. Kayla Boyer did a very thorough exam, even smelling his ears! She diagnosed his heart murmur and treated the fluid in his lungs that I could actually hear. He also ended up having to have his upper canines removed later on, and Dr. Boyer did an excellent job on his surgery. My dog's recovery went so smoothly, thanks to Dr. Boyer and her staff. I have called around to other vets to compare costs for the same services, and found them either more expensive or comparable to Speedway Veterinary Hospital. I am more than satisfied with Dr. Boyer and her wonderful staff and will continue to take my dog here for veterinary care. read more

I took my dog to Dr. Boyer a few yrs. back and my dog died 4 days later. She said and I quote " I'm surprised she lasted that long". My dog had some illnesses but she was a happy fun loving dog when I took her in. When I picked her up she couldn't even walk. Dr. Boyer is inconsiderate and should not be working with any animals. I know there is risk involved but no explanation or even "I'm sorry". She was more concerned if I was going to pay the bill. Two days after the dog died her lawyer friend called and threatened me to pay or I would be sued. NO ONE SHOULD TAKE THERE ANIMAL TO THIS CLINIC. read more

However, after that I have had a feeling that since my dog and I are now regulars, we do not get the attention and compassion at the same level. I read one review that mentioned they felt Dr. Boyer was patronizing, and I can imagine how that could happen. When I would stop in from time to time just to pick up pet meds, my dog and I were virtually ignored by Dr. B, although the staff was always outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic. I feel Dr. B is knowledgeable and professional. However, as a devoted animal lover, I also look for the "warm, fuzzy" aspect of a care provider. I would like to see if I can find a combination of professionalism and a sense of "family". read more
