Came specifically for mini golf and we golfed at court 3 which they said was most challenging. It was a fun time but we came middle of the day so it was definitely hot!

It's like a blast from the past to come here. Three sets of courses and bumper cars arcade games and now a lazer tag spot? I think that's new-ish from what I remember but kiddos a little too young for that. Just kept things simple and tried to keep the balls on course. Once we got through our 18, we cooled down with some thick shakes. But let's be real. It's more like ice cream than shakes. Lastly, we finished things off with some arcade games. Ran around a bit and ended up with more bouncey balls. Definitely coming back. Maybe on a cooler day though.

Three stars overall but one added star because Golfland provided my child with so much joy and wonderful memories. Not sure if my purchase was a Summer special or if the offering is available daily but we opted for the $30 deal providing X amount of credits. This was perfect for my 4yo. This provided her with a little bit more than an hours worth of playtime at the arcade. Prizes are whack and definitely a huge ripoff IMO but the delight written all over her face was 100% worth it.

Sadly, this is not the Golfland that I grew up with. During its golden years, both buildings were filled some of the best arcade games. Fridays and Saturday nights they were filled with young and old duking it out and trying to beat out the high scores (yeah, like you saw in shows like Stranger Things); DDR had lines of people just waiting to show off their feet dexterity. The golf course was pristine and all in working condition. Now... One building is filled with games that are mainly just ticket focused. Get tickets, redeem tickets; high scores, what are those? A lot of the machines are generally broken, others are based off of apps you can play on a phone/tablet. I mean, my sons like going here, so I take them from time to time. Yes this review is written with nostalgia... and the old Golfland probably struggles to succeed nowadays, but man, it was better that what we have now!

We had our 12 year olds Birthday here in December. Completely exceeded my expectations the young staff were so fun full of energy, great attitudes and so Tentative! We booked the room and had so much room, space for the younger kids to run around without worry. We did the laser tag and boy was it fun for kids & us adults. The golf course was very clean and safe. Our party hostess was AMAZING and a GREAT LEADER. Thank you ELOURA!! You totally love your job and you made our special day so fun! We will back !

Came for a birthday and got the $33/3hr package that gives you 3hrs of unlimited mini golf, bumper cars, laser tag and laser maze. Halloween decor is up and everywhere. Party room is actually a pretty decent size. Disappointed that the laser maze is unavailable at this time. Also sad that arcade is not included with the 3hr pass but the kids LOVEEEE the laser tag. Little bit of a wait though since they're short staffed.

Super fun to do on a random weekday night. Some difficult levels but all fun. Easy parking.

What is the average time to complete one of the golf courses for a group of 4? Also how long is one game of laser tag?

Is laser tag opened due to Covid-19?

Hi Maritza, Unfortunately indoor entertainment venues, like laser tag, are not allowed to be open in Santa Clara county for a while. Thank you for your question.

Are all the attractions open, or just the golf?

Hi Gerald, For now the 3 18 hole mini golf courses, bumper cars, snack bar, and ICEBERG THICK THICK Shakes are open. Thanks for asking.

I noticed they're open during Covid and registration is required. Are there time limits on how long you have to complete course?

The registration is just to help disperse customers throughout the day. There is not a time limit. Just the time it takes to play 18 holes of mini golf or attractions purchased. Typically it takes 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete one round of… Read more

It was pretty dead on Father's Day when we came in but I can imagine how busy it can be and there are lots of activities in as a whole. Bummer that game cards don't let you have tickets for games unless you upgrade it? It was our first time here so maybe something to do with them being free as a bonus to something else. No biggie, kids had fun playing and that's more important. Unfortunately that's where the positives stop. The Bad: service in the main dining area was rough, and that's putting it nicely. I did privately message the business but it seems that only respond publicly. We came in on Father's Day for the first time. Got a young lady with dyed red hair as our server. She couldn't answer any questions about the menu, my mother in law was asking how many wings on the sampler to see if it would be enough (which is not stated in the menu) and a few other questions, all met with "I don't know". Ok whatever, nothing to fuss about. But the problems kept coming. Everyone got their food, she never brought the kids drinks, didn't check back when food got there until having to be flagged down. The whole time, she was within sight but busy chatting with the bartender and coworkers. When we brought up the missing kids drinks her attitude shifted like we were the problem. Had to flag her for beer refills, drink refills, she never asked if anyone needed anything when she did come by to drop things off and she would literally drop an item and zip away before anyone could ask. We weren't high maintenance but when you don't even bring things we asked for to begin with, like yea, we're going to ask for them. The worst part is, when my mother in law got up to use the restroom, which has her walking past the host stand, there was our server bad mouthing us to the hostess, not discreetly at all. She was saying that we're acting like she's not taking care of us. Girl, you aren't! Basic service is not being met when you're not at the least bringing people's drinks or checking on us without having to be flagged down. Especially when there's barely anyone here. She just stopped coming by and we had to flag someone else down just to pay and be done with it. It really is a shame because we did like all other aspects of Big Al's. My in-laws drove all the way out from Visalia to spend the day with us there and the grandkids and to have to overhear your server talking trash so openly is just wildly inappropriate. We weren't copping an attitude, being rude or short with her. Please and thank you for everything, but if people asking you for things is a problem, or you're going to take offense instead of accountability, then maybe service isn't your thing. And management should really address the professionalism or lack thereof. Some people may not take a serving/restaurant jobs seriously, but it's a real job and it's how I paid my bills and provided for myself and family for 22 years.

I walked into a space that gets loud and warm during busy periods, and cleanliness varied by section, but the overall setup gave my group plenty of options for a few hours of entertainment. The arcade is the strongest part of the offering. I found the selection of rhythm games solid and reasonably well maintained, and the claw and gacha style machines are what Round1 does better than most chain arcades. That said, individual claw machine plays run around four dollars, which adds up quickly if I am playing multiple rounds, and the tension on the machines is inconsistent enough that results feel more variable than skill based. The prize section near those machines tends to run warm compared to the rest of the floor. Racing games, fighting games, and photo booths fill out the rest of the arcade floor, and the overall variety was broad enough to keep my group occupied. Bowling is available but came with some caveats. The ball selection skewed toward smaller finger holes and very heavy options, with limited middle ground, so bringing my own ball would be worth considering if I bowled regularly. Party packages are available and include shoes and games, which streamlines the booking process for larger groups. For a casual group outing, birthday celebration, or evening with a mix of activities on offer, Round1 covers the bases adequately. Going in with realistic expectations about the cost per activity makes the experience more enjoyable. It is not a refined destination, but for what it is, it delivered a fun few hours.

It was extremely stuffy and warm in May, reminding me of a locker room. I definitely wouldn't want to come back during the summer. We won a decent amount of prizes (albeit we spent $240), but the prizes weren't as cute as the ones I've gone to in SoCal either. It was hard finding a machine where I actually wanted the plush or figurine. They also had 6 different machines just dedicated to kuromi, which is great and all but there just wasn't much variety. Hopefully they update their selection and add more skill based machines.

They are held at California Extreme in Santa Clara, Golden Gate Pinball Festival in Lodi and Pin-a-Go-Go in Dixon. California Extreme is not exclusive with Pinball Machines. There are also tons of arcade games for those who enjoy them. We have enjoyed attending these events whenever we're able to. In the past, our work schedules often got in the way. Now that we're retired, our vacation schedules often cause conflicts. The people who run this event have always done a tremendous job of getting others to bring their beloved machines, set on free play, for the masses to play. In return, they get free admission. A substantial number of volunteers are also needed to load-in, load-out, wipe down, perform minor repairs, scorekeepers, registration, check-in, etc., etc. We attend to see Pinball Machines that we've never seen before, to play with machines that are hard to find, to play new machines, but mostly to play in the tournament. Yes, there are cash purses and trophies or plaques to be one. Bragging rights galore! But for players at my level, it's mostly about WPPR Points that affect your International Flipper Pinball Association Ranking. As I write this review, I am 8640 out of 103,576 players in the world. Does it mean anything? Only to my ego. At one time, I was sub-3000. I simply don't play in enough tournaments to keep my ranking. This year's tournament entry fee was $2 per game. That is not particularly expensive BUT there was no limit to the number of entries that one could purchase. This changes that tournament of skill and luck to one of skill, luck and DEEP POCKETS. In my opinion, there should be a single buy-in. Everyone plays the same number of games on the games that are available. Yes, this will reduce the prize money but so what? Whatever happens, happens. If you have a great day, congratulations. If you have a lousy day, better luck next year. But under the unlimited buy-in, you just keep putting out money until you have a few good games to tie together for your final score. What? The tournaments almost over but you're in 11th place and only the first 10 places are in the money. Well, play some more and hope to improve your score and win! Anyway, without the tournament to play in, I will either only attend California Extreme one day only or skip it all together moving forward. Additionally, this year, for the first time, the Hyatt is now charging $40 to park overnight. This was either not disclosed at the time of booking or I somehow missed it. When I complained, it was discounted $20 because I was staying there for California Extreme and another $10 because I'm a Hyatt member. I was told that, "all the other area hotels are charging more for parking and the Hyatt is just trying to catch up." There was a 49ers exhibition game on Saturday, August 19th, and parking was expected to be at a premium and traffic would be a zoo. To counter that, we arrived way early to get a space. We arrived at 8:30 for a 10:00 opening. Because we left the house so early, we didn't have time to eat breakfast, but we had plenty of down time in the hotel (check-in was at 3:00pm), so we opted for breakfast in the hotel (see our review for Evolution). Breakfast Buffet at $28 per person vs Continental Breakfast at $22 per person. So, while California Extreme is still lots of fun, between the costs and the crowds and a Deep Pocket Tournament, it may be time for us to move on.
