They advertise NFL on Sundays, but if you are planning to see a game there - WARNING - don't! You may walk in at 1pm on a Sunday during NFL season to fi d them playing car racing on every single TV... (Are you kidding me?!!?!!?). Went here on a Friday night but was easy to get a seat (kits location). This is not a place for a quiet sit down dinner, it's more of a party on a Friday vibe but that is what I was going for that night. They have a lot of options for bar food and drinks, my top favourite were there loaded tator tots! I was also very excited about their taquitos but, I didn't think they were worth it for the price as well as the quantity. I got their lager for drinks and my friend got a bunch of their cocktails. Food is not bad. Reasonable priced. It has some good selection. Had the nanchos there and the food is different than the nancho you get elsewhere. You really have to try it. The Nancho are seasoned and then on top you have the cheese and bell peppers and jalapeno. That was pretty special. Also I had the poutine. Not bad. good portion size. Not too much gravy so the fries are not soaked. I do like that. Wings are not bad. The salt and pepper was good and goes well with blue cheese. The flat breads are not bad. Pretty good service. Decor is not bad. Place is clean. But the place isn't big. It does have a few TV hanging. But the angles are so so. if you are sitting at the booths, you don't really get a good angle of the TV. Tried a bunch of appies, as well as a couple of "handheld" dishes - the BBQ Onion Ring Burger, and the Beef Dip. Flatbread pizzas - actually quite good. Probably my favourite of all the dishes I've tried here. Nice thin crusts, and fresh and light toppings. Nachos - fairly decent. BBQ Onion ring burger - onion rings were too heavy on the batter. Almost a meal by themselves. Burger was pretty tasty though. Beef dip - decent, but the jus was way too salty. I couldn't finish it off, even after using it as a dip for my fries. The good: - Ambiance (lighting, seating, volume) is good for casual dates. - Attracts the most energetic bar crowd in the area (but this is still Vancouver so don't expect any socializing with strangers). The disappointing: - Boring food. Nothing especially tasty nor bad. - Not sure why I should drop $7 on standard beers you can get anywhere. If you want an interesting beer selection (and better food + similar atmosphere), go to Darby's. If you want affordability with a nice side of character, there's Fringe nearby. I usually avoid this place due to the massive crowds of drunks that are constantly there, but occasionally pop in during a quiet afternoon or the last hour before they close (not in Friday/Saturday) when it's less busy. Tip: Tuesday has cheap beers so it's usually the best day to pop in during off hours. Edit: apparently now they only offer regular menu beers cheap; rotating taps aren't on special AND they only pour them in pints, not sleeves, so no longer worth bothering coming here... I normally avoid places that don't over flights or 4 oz pours, but at least if they have a 10 oz sleeve I can justify trying a couple new beers that are likely not very good (original rating was 2, now lowered to 1). Food is below average, standard pub fare, nothing to go out of your way for. I suppose the fajitas are decent. Beer offerings are okay, but the biggest gripe I have is that they constantly mislabel the beers and the staff have no clue what beer is what. There is literally zero product knowledge. Most of the beers they just put (brewery) (style) such as "Field House IPA", but Field House puts out more than 40 different versions of an IPA! Or right now they have "33 Acres Passionfruit Popper", but it should be "33B" or "33 Brewing Experiment" because it is a separate company from 33 Acres. These mistakes constantly happen and show the sheer laziness of whoever is in charge of their products. read more

First, everyone must come here on a Tuesday the drink specials are on point. Now that ball park nachos. The cheese dip was watered down and you couldn't really taste the cheese. It was runny enough that it would just run off the chip. Not sure why a restaurant would serve such watered down cheese dip. I would prefer the nacho cheese from 7-11. The nacho chips tasted stale. I came here at the suggestion of a friend on a Canucks game night. They have been opened for about 3.5 weeks. The space was a good mix of high tables, booths, tables and bar seating. A slightly upper scale pub. Lots of TVs around. The menu had a lot of different takes on your usual. We had the "Winning Wings" and they were definitely winners. Maybe a bit pricey at 6 wings for $12 but it's wrapped in maple bacon and stuffed with cream cheese! It was really yummy! Their French Fry Bar menu looked awesome. We had the Beer Battered Lemon Pepper Fries. Definitely another winner. They were perfectly seasoned and crispy. The special that night was $3 draft beer! Can't beat that price! The atmosphere was fun and casual. The waitress was friendly and attentive. It's a hit! We'll be back. read more

It was fun lounging in Kits' newest, revamped neighbourhood pub, formerly Kitsilano Billiards (from the same family ownership group), and sipping on a robust Maker's sour (aka bourbon/whisky sour). I dined on some comfort bar food with small twists including winning wings (stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in maple bacon), wok fried squid, and braised pork belly sliders. I liked their friendly servers, bar staff, and company serving up many local beers on tap from Whistler, Parallel 49, and Driftwood brewing companies as I enjoyed the Canucks game on screens all around. read more

I've frequented Good Co. for quite some time now, dating back to before these postcolonial times (i.e., it was still called the Colony). I'm usually a low-maintenance customer, just getting a couple of drinks with some friends at the weekly trivia night. Insofar as that goes, service is pretty mediocre--some waitresses are good; sometimes it takes upwards of 20 minutes to so much as get a glass of wine poured or to pay the bill. But, as someone who, in this eschatologically charged 21st century, is effectively numb regarding the vicissitudes of life, it's basically fine. (The trivia itself is quite good, to be clear, and may well be the only real thing the place has going for it.) Recently, however, I'm trying to opt back into the path of "caring about my health" like the entitled millennial I am, so I've been looking at some of their offerings that are ostensibly healthier than alcohol--to me, in an ideal world, that's low carbs, a variety of nutrient-dense vegetables, and a fair amount of animal-based protein. Even looking through their menu now, I see only three items that, on paper, come remotely close to approximating those basic principles. Please note the superlatively pointed use of the phrase "on paper". I opted for the avocado bowl salad with chicken; it would be charitable to describe what I received as much more than a plate of lettuce in drag. (Nothing against those who partake in drag, of course.) There was a whopping half-avocado for a dish that is in fact named for its use of avocado as an ingredient; that half-avocado was itself partly brown--although I'll grant them that it's hard to ripen and maintain avocados, and I'd rather they not waste basically-fine food anyhow. There were also maybe 4-5 tomatoes, some black beans, and an overabundance of corn. But for the most part it was just a plate of lettuce. No spinach, no kale, not even any arugula--just Romaine fucking lettuce. (As an aside, why one would choose to sully one's salad with nutrient-poor grains like corn is entirely beyond me.) Now, as mentioned, I did have chicken added to the salad. On the menu, this was indicated to be a $5.00 charge--steep, I thought, but I did want some protein. What I received was maybe fifty cents' worth of chicken--I ate it in literally one bite. (Not commenting here on the true value of that chicken's inconceivably hellish life, what with capitalism-fueled husbandry practices, but rather on the market price.) Further, after I'd paid, I noticed they'd charged me not $5.00 for roughly fifty cents' worth of chicken, but $5.75. It's tiny, and it's absolutely not worth making a fuss over, but nonetheless that's the point my morale just snapped. The menu is completely online, all it would take is for them to edit a few characters, and they still can't be bothered do the bare minimum keep it maintained. If I'm being charitable, I would say it reeks of poor management; if I'm not, I would say it is emblematic of an thorough, deep disrespect, both to their clientele and to their staff. All in all, the experience made me just despondent. It broke me to such an extent that I'm bothering to write this to express the full extent of my displeasure. I'm actively imploring my friends to move our trivia night, that's how thoroughly dismal the evening was. I wish never to give them money again. read more

We walked past on the weekend and saw the Buy 1 Get 1 Free Brunch last Sunday and thought we'd give it a shot. The front windows completely open up, and it was another gorgeous day (Vancouver's on a roll!) so even though it wasn't a patio, it still felt bright and airy. The space is nice, and I see there are a lot of daily specials, including $2 tacos on Sundays and $3 draft beers on Tuesdays. They also have an adequate selection of local beers. Our food was mediocre, but brunch at a bar? Perhaps it's a little unfair to judge them out of their element. We had the Chicken & Bacon Frittata (a little dry), and the Breakfast Fajitas. Neither of them did much for me, but passable with the Buy 1 Get 1 deal, making them about $6 each. I'd be up for coming back one night to see what their nighttime vibe and food was like. read more

This place is always busy and they are totally okay with "standies". It's the kind of place where, if it's busy grab a drink and stand around, and steal a table when you can. I don't mind Colony Bar because I have had some good times here but it's not my favorite pub. The food is standard pub fair with typical Vancouver prices. Nothing overly special too mention. I am always impressed with the service staff because this placed is so crazy I don't know how the do it. Food wise, the Chicken fajitas are tasty but have become a smaller portion over the last couple years for the same price. The nachos are also pretty good but they are skimpy on the meat. Wine list is so so and the prices are typical. They do offer drink specials which is great and when we went today, on the Greek Days Sunday, they had Belgium Moon beer on for $4.75. It's a actually a beer i'll drink cause it's good, but I am just not a big beer drinking. I just realized they also had "brunch drinks" on special as well. I assume that means Mimosas and Ceasers. My complaints for this place are the #1 The bathrooms are always a mess and stink like pee. #2 Front door guy. I mean, we need a bouncer because why? This guy today to reached to grab my bf's coffee out of his hands while we were approaching the door. Not cool. My guy had to stand outside in the rain to finish his Starbucks. Colony is a good spot to catch a game or pop in for dinner. It's a pretty clean, new bar with friendly staff and good food. So far I've had the regular burger, quinoa burg, kale Caesar and poutine (I sound like a fat F but c'mon... KALE!). All pretty good. Beer specials on Tuesday; domestics for $4. Friday's have red truck on special which is a nice bonus. Definitely my new watering hole given we've moved to the hood. read more

For +2.50 you can upgrade your fries/salad to specialty fries from their fry bar, so that's one way to get these Lemon Pepper fries. We came here on a Monday night. The place was dimly lit, looks clean and presentable and I liked the atmosphere. Servers were ok with service but maybe because they were busy with a full house for that night's event. Having said that, I was able to flag them down, but we got the basics of service that night, having to ask for napkins etc. We got to try out some pub food: nachos 15$, pepper lime wings-12$ (my fav there), flat bread pizzas 15$, poutine -7$. They had a nice-looking bar there with a handsome bartender (har har). I also like the front clear window garage opening by the corner. They had booths and high tables. Bathrooms were clean and tidy at the back of the pub. They also have Trivia Wednesdays and we of course won a 50$ gift card that night as a promo. Price on menu is fair. I went here with some family as it was just around the corner from where they lived. I ordered the kale caesar salad with chicken and a side fries as I didn't find anything on the one page menu that I liked. When the salad came, I noticed right away that there was NO dressing on the salad. It was just the kale, some bacon bits, a few croutons, what appeared to be some sort of parmesan cheese and a few pieces of chicken, but there was NO evidence of caesar dressing. It tasted dry and bland. NO flavouring. I couldn't finish the plate. I moved on to the fries because it was the only other thing I ordered that tasted like they were supposed to. My aunt ordered the cob salad with ranch dressing and there was NO evidence of ranch dressing. She had to ask for "extra" ranch just so she have dressing on her salad. I won't be back. read more

The worst and rudest service I've ever experienced in Vancouver. The manager on shift was rude from the moment our group arrived. We were a large party (15ppl) but we had booked a week ahead so we were expected. She rolled her eyes at us, was passive aggressive and continued to usher us with her hands in a very rude way. It got the point that we were going to leave as only half of our group had been served one drink., one of our group asked to speak to her privately, she asked him to join her outside, he shared his upset at her attitude towards us from the off, explaining it seemed like she was annoyed for another reason before we got there. As a manager is is meant to set an example for her team, she was shocking. As a result of the conversation. Had them upgrade my fries to the fry bar and had a choice of various different types of fries I could have chosen from. Was going to get pulled pork poutine, but since I already had some type of Asian Pulled Pork so decided on some beer battered fries which really hit the spot! It was hard to distinguish taste between the bun and the chicken. Bland and old oil taste is the best way to put it. The fries were a good attempt but again suffered from an overdue dryer oil change. I go here fairly often and there are two - Main st and Broadway. I usually go to the Main st location and enjoy their Happy hour specials. It's changed since I started going and it's not exactly what I liked before but it's definitely better value than after 6. Tuesday's they have all the beers on special and that's a good deal too. It's got good staff that are attentive and experienced. I guess if you work in a bar you are used to all sorts of craziness so the wait staff are pretty calm, cool and collected. It was busy enough but our server was good with making sure were doing okay and our drinks were always topped up. I ordered an Caesar, the fish burger and the pickle jar. I do love me some pickles. The fish burger was decent, however I found it to be a tad greasy and my bun started to get mushy by the end so I just ate the fish part. I didn't mind that too much since I should be cutting my carb intake anyway. My only criticism: bigger glass for Caesars!! read more
