I was getting a busy signal at Sid's and was in a hurry to make an appointment for my brakes to be checked again...so I called another mechanic. Who proceeded to lecture me on all the things that could be wrong, tell me how busy they were so couldn't guarentee a time, and more or less talked down to me. Once I had hung up with them, I called Sid's again. They told me the likely problem, the approximate time for repair, and to go ahead and come in this afternoon.

Answered all of our questions, gave my wife and I space to discuss things and never once came across like a typical car salesman. He was great. They got us a great rate with outside financing so there was none of the typical car buying game of "Let me talk to my manager" or "How much can you pay a month" He told us the price of the car and found us the best rate we could get at a credit union and we were out the door. His resolve, was to register the car in another state. Fed up with situation, I went to pick my car, to find that they had to jump it to get it started. Rains charged me for a new battery, that I had to replace a month later. They're an upgrade, bolt-on shop for newer cars.....Again, 11 months and couldn't resolve or even find the actual issue causing the emissions test to fail. I didn't bother writing a review at the time; just wasn't worth the effort, but as I was customizing my car after the occurrence, I found another VR4 owner who had a poor experience with Rains, but that's his story to tell. So, I wanted to make other people aware about the shop and how they do business. I have all receipts and documents, which shows timeline and obscene costs, if debated or questioned on the facts. Now, I'm sure the owner, will reply and try to talk himself out of the factual occurrences, by either downplaying the situation or speaking poorly of me. That's fine. But facts are facts....for a "pro" shop to have a car for 11 months and can't resolve a emissions issue on a car with only 62K miles on it, is just ridiculous.

Ok whatever, I wait another two weeks and they finally call me to tell me they THINK there's some broken springs in the head but need to tear it down, I give them the ok on the tear down. I wait ANOTHER 3 weeks and then they call me to tell me that my car is ready! Wtf?! Ok so what was wrong with it? What kind of parts did you put in it? What if I wanted them ported and polished? Zero communication, they just decided to fix it. I didn't give the okay to fix anything! Just to tear down the heads! So I ask what was wrong, I was told there were broken springs and they replaced them with all forged parts, and the wait time on port and polish would be months and same with built thitek heads. Which is complete bullshit, bc I called around.... So I ask how much the bill is and the owner tells me $8k!! I tell them I didn't authorize any repairs and he says they can tear it back down but still going to be $4k. At this point I don't don't want them even touching my car anymore. I bite the bullet and pay $8k.. not even 2 weeks later I notice there is a substantial oil leak in my garage I take it to another shop and they tell me I have a rear main seal leak and missing/mismatched bolts on my oil pan!Thank god I was watching my oil pressure or these dipshits would've made me seize my built motor!! At this point I'm livid, so I call them to tell them they fucked up. The owner tells me that they didn't go anywhere near the rear main or oil pan. Well who the fuck did then?! It didn't have any leaks before I brought it to them and no other shop has touched my car since the motor was built. The block was painted so you can tell someone was in there because they put in the mismatched bolts in the oil pan. They of course denied, denied, denied...GO FIGURE RIGHT?! so now I get to pay another few thousand to have my rear main done bc of these crooks. Basically their customer service is a fucking joke just like their workmanship. Save yourself ALOT of money and a HUGE headache and just AVOID AVOID AVOID this place!! Wish I could give 0 stars!! Where to start…read more.. The bad tire they sent me out the door with at night and refused to replace after they told me the tires were brand new. The oil leak in my engine their mechanics missed. The failure to process my DMV paperwork and my four subsequent visits to the DMV. The fact that they only listed my husband on the registration paperwork yet we both purchased the car. I spoke with Robert the owner who actually admitted to having multiple problems with registration. Wouldn't go here without knowing a huge headache is ahead of you!

Daniel walked us through the pros/cons of buying vs leasing, and found us two cars that matched our overall household car budget. We ended up purchasing a new car and buying out the lease on our other car, which Daniel also helped us do without paying any sort of penalties. And the car we ended up purchasing was a car a never knew existed until Daniel brought it to us as an option. Besides staying within the parameters of our budget, Daniel actually brought us cars to our HOUSE to test drive and personally delivered our new car to us. This morning I received a text from a person interested in purchasing the Mazda and we had planned to meet at 2 pm so they could test drive the car. Upon asking the persons name I was told his name was Daniel. Daniel asked me for the vin # (which is already listed on CL),he asked; if the car had been in an accident, had hail damage or had the car been smoked in? I told him no accident and I don't smoke but it had minimal hail damage (cant notice it) and I sent him more pictures that weren't on CL. @ 2:01 Daniel called while I was in transit and I told him I would soon be there and he told me his car was in the shop and he had to wait for it and now we couldn't meet until 2:30 - 2:45. My son and I went straight to our meeting destination because we didn't want Daniel to have to wait for us if we were going to be wasting time while we were waiting for him. My son and I waited for Daniel in a parking lot starting at 2:15. At 3 pm Daniel texted me and said he pulled the car-fax and it indicated accidents and before he headed down there would I go down on the price? I hesitated answering him because I knew I had not been in an accident not in the Mazda or any other car and I had to contemplate what was going on. I did text back with a "possible" of lowering the price and I thought maybe if he saw the car he would see that the car is nice. Daniel said his ETA to be there would be 3:30. At 3:45 Daniel was still not at our meeting place and therefore; I called him. Yes, I called HIM. He did not seem to have any intention to call and let me know he'd be backing out. When he answered he acted confused about who I was and why I was calling and only seemed to "recall" when I mentioned the car and that it was past the 3rd time he said he would meet. Daniel told me during this conversation that he had a friend he was looking at the Mazda for and he didn't know that she didn't want a hatch back and he wouldn't be coming any longer. I am upset because: -We came to find out that Daniel is an auto broker, which he could have been up front about it from the very beginning. In my opinion concealing that information is bad business practice. - Why did Daniel as a broker not know his friend didn't want a hatch back? - My son and I wasted 4 hours of our day trying to accommodate Daniel in which 1 1/2 hours was waiting for Daniel in a parking lot. - The "accidents" on car-fax were (2) minor window replacements and a no fault minor bump in the rear in a parking lot while I was in the store that broke the lens and put a dent in the hatch that was repaired with new parts. People should find out what happened before assuming anything major. - This is my experience today which has concluded me to believe that I was treated without consideration and with a person who is driven by self motivations. It is in my opinion that a good business seeks mutual benefit for all parties concerned and in this situation trust could have been developed with honesty from the beginning in knowing the true intention of what his motives were.
